It breaks my heart to watch this because I left my homestead me in upstate NY 27 yrs ago when we moved to Fl....praying about moving to country to start it again...ty for sharing
I loved the glimpses of the farm, the decor, and the sewing! Although I do love the kitchen videos too -- just the added country feel of this one was so enjoyable!
I find it incredible to hear that not only are you a mother of 8, but are also a size 8. I guess the secret is your love for your family, your cherishing heart and your faith. What I do know is your inner beauty outshines your outer beauty, which in itself is hard to believe. Your husband is a very lucky man.
I really like the top of the dress just as a top...hopefully you find time to craft one...just so cute and classic. I like how you had to have pockets....good Lord you can't go without those :)
Dress is adorable. I would, on you, take a 2" pinch out of the back and just sew it top to bottom to take it up some. That'll be the easiest way so you aren't constantly trying to stay modest. Very cute though! Thanks for sharing!
Something you could do is add ties to your dress. Just tack them on at the side seams at the waste line (no one will see that they're not sewn into the seam). This will allow you to tie them up tight on your skinny days and allow some room when you need it. 💕🌞🌵😷 Ps. Very cute on you by the way!
Gorgeous dress, Lisa! The colour looks stunning on you. Oh, and the strawberry cheesecake ice cream - that sounds like a treat I should make for the children. Thank you for sharing, God bless you and your family!
Your chicken dish looks delicious. Beautiful dress too. I also taught my girls how to sew and crochet and cook. Just to be able to read a recipe is important, don’t forget to teach them money and checking account knowledge, this helped my daughter in so many ways about balancing money. Great video Lisa.
❤ the last 5 minutes that ice cream is in the machine I add the swirl ingredients so it mixes through before placing in freezer dish. I love that you have made sowing time for yourself. The garden looks great Luke! Mine’s a wild mess of herbs getting cut back for the season, but I found a bunny in it yesterday so hoping to find it again for. Round two. 😂
Could you do a series on sewing? Starting with threading the bobbin? (I failed home ec because my sister did my zipper and someone told on me - neighbor across the street). Oh then I had such a bad taste. With sewing for MANY years! You made it look like something so perfect! - you are the authentic I see and adore vs other “famous ppl” 🩰 farm!and adore. Thank you for feeding my soul!
Today's morning chores took me by my strawberry beds, which are lush and thriving, but are nearly overtaken by weeds. It's beautiful, cool and breezy here now, as September approaches, so I'm taking your lovely video about strawberries as a sign to go do battle and retake that patch. They'll fruit again soon, so thanks for lighting the fire, lol! Big hugs!! ❤

Great video Lisa. Love the dress on you and thanks so very much for all you give. I just went for the free sourdough Ebook. God bless you for paying it all forward...
Love that gingham fabric! So cute. Reminds me of a little cottonwood dress. Would look very nice more fitted on you or as a blouse,, etc. I have some sewing skills which I use semi often to mend kids clothes, etc. but haven’t ventured into clothes making because seeing how things would fit together is not my strength. This inspired me though! Also wanted to mention I would love you to give a gardening 101 video some day. Your garden is exactly what I want. But hardly anything grew for me this year and I watered everyday. I’m more the type to just throw things in the ground so I’m sure it’s lack of knowledge…
5:02 Fun fact: when ever a pattern says cut on fold... The fold doesn't have to be down the center of the fabric. The way you placed the pattern in this video 5:06, you got two narrow pieces (both with selvages) left over. But! If you would have folded the fabric at the approx 2/3 (just big enough to fit the pattern piece where one selvage is right next to the cut line) you'll get one big piece left over (instead of two smaller pieces)! 💕🌞🌵😷
You sound like pro! I want to start sewing..I did it a few times as a kid. I don't even have a machine right now. How should I learn...do you recommend a place for me to start?
@@franchescawetter8423, sewing is a lot of fun and give you a great sense of accomplishment when someone asks where you got that and you say: I made it! First, you don't need a machine to sew. Many people enjoy hand sewing, especially after a busy day out in the world. Re: to learn how... Depends on how you learn. If you can read and do, then I would go to the fabric store and look through the patterns marked simple or easy. The one she picked is an easier pattern because it has no zip, buttons or other back closure. It's also loose fitting, so you won't have to alter the pattern. Sleeves are a little more tricky, but still easy if you take them one step at a time. The patterns come with step by step instructions. Look over the whole thing, but don't get overwhelmed... You just want to get a brief idea. Bodice first, then the skirt, etc. Then start with step one and do one sentence at a time. Be sure to wash your fabric before you cut. Fabric shrinks a bit (some a lot) and you don't want any shrinkage before you cut or it might be too tight after. You don't see her wash, but she shows ironing well before cutting. Wrinkles will make the cutting wonky. Iron your pattern on low heat to get out any folds. Don't worry if that's not in your skill set. Many people can't learn that way. If you are a visual learner, there are many TH-cam videos. Many fabric stores have classes, but compare the price to classes offered at your rec center or community college. Some provide sewing machines some don't, so be sure to ask. If the class is more than one session , ask if you can use the machines when there's no other classes. I've taken a couple of classes at community college. They usually are for a full semester and you can get a couple of garments completed with the same instructor. Which is nice. If there are no "open sewing" hours, some instructors will let you sit in one of her other classes and use a machine... especially nearer the end of the semester when classes naturally seem to thin out. Hope this helps. Feel free to ask, if you have more questions. 💕🌞🌵😷
@@franchescawetter8423 my favorite hand sewist on TH-cam is Bernadette Banner. Her video: what you actually need to make clothes, applies to machine sewing as well. Yes, you can put a hem up by machine but I prefer hand sewing hems, so even if you hate hand sewing, I'd still get a thimble. I like a leather thimble with a metal shield built in or the plastic one with a hole in the back to let your fingernail stick out. But like she says finding a thimble is certainly personal and a journey. Sending lots of love 💕 from sunny 🌞 Arizona 🌵. Take care of yourself and each other 😷
@@franchescawetter8423, if money's tight, you really only need a machine that sews straight stitches. A machine that also sews a zigzag will bind the edges if your fabric is probe to extreme raveling. And zigzag is handy for buttonholes (but you can do buttonholes by hand). Some will say zigzag is necessary, others optional. Mine has zigzag, but I've rarely ever used it, so optional. If your fabric is probe to ravel, there are options like french seams, etc. making zigzag not essential. But everything else on machines are optional. I've seen them at big box stores for under $100... quality unknown, so get the extended warranty. But a basic machine will last long enough to see if you really like sewing and give you time to save up for your dream machine. 💕🌞🌵😷
That is my most favorite style dress. I have it in knee length and some ankle length. I really want to get back into sewing. This pattern I would love to have. Probably need to start off little because I am most definitely a little rusty with the sewing, it's been a very long time. 😂😂😂😂 I love cheesecake, probably my most favorite dessert, trying it as an icecream, oh boy it sounds delicious.
This video is beautiful. I loved the easy dress that you sewed. One question for you, do you ever get five minutes to sit down. I cook a lot of Greek food, and your Greek chicken with orzo, looked very delish. Your home is stunning; absolutely beautiful. You work hard, and you have a very wonderful life. God bless your family. ❤

At first, I thought maybe you were right about making the pattern a size smaller next time. But when I saw you slip the bodice over your head, hmm 🤔 maybe not. If it had some kinda closure in the back (zipper or buttons), I'd say sure go ahead, but since you have to slip it over your head???
