I just typed in stuttering and it came up... I come from a large family that stutters. My daughter stutters and I like to show her videos of others just like her...she refers too her stutter as a glitch in her wiring and says even though she has one she still works just as good as every one else.

I describe stuttering the same way. It feels like you have a bunch of air inside of you that you can't push out. I hate it so much. It makes me feel more comfortable knowing that there are other people going through the same thing... But it also sucks because we have to go through this. You're so brave and i hope to see more videos from you!

its so fucking annoying. i have been struggling with it since i was 9 years old and i am now 18. the stupid thing is why do i stutter when im not dumb. I mean, I am in university and always have the highest grades in my class, so why am i not able to perform such a task (speaking normally) that comes off so easy for less ''smart'' people. do you know what i mean... its so weird and stupid.

      Hey,
Yeah I had to do my fair share of presentations in front of the class. Sometimes when i was in a really bad ''stutter'' mood, i choked and stuttered while presenting. This fucking sucked. But other times when I did not stutter that much the presentations were ''doable''. Still i think that if I would never have stuttered that my last 10 years would have looked very, very different.

I agree. I have been stuttering ever since I was 6 and have always tried to get rid of it, but it never worked. This week I'm going to Hollins Communications Research Institute where they will teach me valuable skills and tools to help me get rid of my suttering. I am very excited and hope to learn new things there 😁

When i get stuck on a word. I change the word i am trying to say. So like, i stutter when someone asks me my name alot. So if i stutter when trying to say "Justin". I'll just say, "my name is justin". Or try and laugh while talking a bit. Like bursts of air.

Nova StrykerHD That's called avoidance behaviour which only builds fear in the long run. You need to avoid avoiding stutter, start looking people in the eye when you stutter and stop substituting words, making facial grimaces and whatever. I recommend "Self-theraphy for the stutterer" by Malcom Fraser, you can find the .pdf online.

When I was a teenager I experienced the same. My mother tongue is Spanish, and I ever had problems with it since I was 7 years old. But when I was speaking in English, my stuttering was going away. However, few years later I started to stutter in English too. :(
Now I'm in college, and I stutter more in English than in Spanish. Is there anything worse? I got into German classes, and I had to leave them because I noticed that was really hard to speak in a foreign language.

I'm 18 year old from the UK and I totally know how it feels, it feels like it holds you back from a lot of things and I know we all hate it. But all it comes down to is confidence in your speech, mine started when I was 12/13 years old and it suddenly stopped when i was 15/16 and now when i realise is because I was so confident and I know with hard work and taking on the biggest fears to boost our confidence we can overcome it, all we need it help and to speak to each other and we can do it. Also don't be sorry you're awesome and I have massive respect for you for making this video, YOUR THE MAN!

I'm 14 and female. I have never stuttered before in my life until 5-4 months ago. Along with the stutter I also developed a lisp. I'm not 100% sure why my speech impediment developed but I went through a lot of mental and emotional trauma 5 months ago and that may be why it developed. Every time I speak in class I have to repeat what I said about 5 times because no one can really understand what I was trying to say. My very good guy friend has had a stutter sense he started to talk so I'm not alone and he never judges me. ☺️😊☺️ To everyone that has a speech impediment don't be bothered by what people say to you, love who you are.

Jeezo bro, i feel for you, i know what you're going through, not just physically, but mentally.
I've had a stutter since i was aged 10, i'm 41 now and life has been difficult at the best of times. It feels like i can't breathe at times, the word sits in my mind as i contemplate how to begin to say it.
You remind me of how i was in my younger days. I was with you as you struggled to get the words out, i was feeling the same emotions, fighting the same barriers you are.
You're a hero, it's extremely difficult to bare your soul to people, but you just bared your soul to the world....well done, that's one huge hurdle you've conquered.

I really admire your courage to make this video JD. I have been a stutterer since i can remember. I have been working on my speech since i was 15 till now, at 27. It has gotten better over the years and i can almost speak freely, but that's not always the case. I don't think it will ever go away because I still think the way i do. I am a stutter and I'm ok with that.
My biggest problem was not breathing. I held in my speech with my breathe, instead of letting my speech come out with my breathe. Always breathe. Practice to breath. Meditation has helped me a ton. Got me in tune with my mind, my breathe, my body, and i guess my soul. It's not an overnight thing but overtime it will pay off.
    Keep it up.

It takes so much courage to make a video like this and I can totally get you when you describe your stutter. You really feel to have a burden in your chest which you can't get rid of. I don't have a very serious kind of stutter but in the last two years it really affected my life. For instance, I can't introduce myself to someone because I totally get blocked when I have to pronounce my name.
The thing I always keep saying to myself is not to give in. We can't let this problem influence our lives. I know it's five years you uploaded this video, but I really hope you are doing well! Let's keep on fighting, we are all amazing

mit mop I stutter and im using this thing. Its when you pretend to sing, like when yu sing you stuttering goes away, so pretend to are singing or just song a bit on the words your stuck on. If you are stuck on a word try to sing it out. If that doesnt help then try to read stories out loud, ( poems help a lot ) and do that for a a couple of weeks and it will either reduce it, help it, or gets rid of your stuttering. I hope that helps you, ive been using the singing one and it kind of helps by I still stutter and I'm to lazy to use the reading one.
I am not a doctor of anything I'm just a kid that looks up stuff and reads things about it- wait, I should read it out loud! but yeah i hope it helps you in anyway!

Hi. I am from mongolia. I am 20 years old and I stutter like you do. Even worse in some situations. It probably started when I was 6 or 7. It got worse over years. I am a Christian. As a Christian for me it was hard to except this condition. I was tired of it. I was angry at God. But now I know that my stutter is not just a mistake or something random. God always has a plan. I don't know if you are a Christian or not but I truly hope, and I will pray for your salvation. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.(1 Corinthians 1:27)

I absolutely know how you feel bud, I also "have a speech impediment" since as long as I can remember. I'm in my late 30's and I have had a rough upbringing because of it. Don't EVER apologize, there are millions of people in this world that stutter and some are famous actors and voice overs. I salute you for your bravery to take the time out and try to explain what it feels like. To me, we are all born unique in our own way and should never apologize for the cards that we were dealt with in life. Keep your head up and find that confidence within you and you'll notice that you will start to substitute words for others but in the end you do get you point across. If no one can except you for what they presume a flaw in you, then they do not need to be in your life period. I have accomplished more things within my first 30 years on this earth than others have in their lifetime. Have also noticed that we are more of the kind hearted spirit than others, think about it. Keep up the great job bud and stay positive, YOLO, so surround yourself with positive people and you'll see that your not alone.

The "s" sound is a very common stutter trigger. I experienced it pretty much everyday when my stutter was really bad and it also just felt like I couldn't speak at all, like the words were unable to leave my mouth. Its really ironic that the word stutter begins with an "s" but I kind of feel like that word was made by non-stutterers, 99 percenters as I call them, who knew the "s" sound is a common trigger. The literal words "speech" and "speak" also starts when an "s". Sometimes I would bang my fist or tap my fingers on a surface a couple of times just to get a word out. Some people think a slow internet connection is frustrating or getting a lot of ads or emptying the recycle bin, imagine struggling to say a simple sentence like "How was your day" on a daily basis. People dont realize how lucky they are. Its truly inspiring to see people with stutters speak openly and without fear. This video made my day. Its nice to know that Im not alone in the struggle.

Really appreciate you putting yourself out there like this. I suffer from the SAME problem, my stuttering issues being stress related. I find it really annoying to stutter in front of people while reading in class, talking to friends etc... because they always laugh about it when I'm just trying to get words out and they have NO idea about how hard it is to get over blocks and other things that are involved with stuttering. So, big props to you for having the courage to make this video and don't let the stuttering problems get in your head, were all different. :)

Nice video man , I've stuttering over past 3 years and I've got use to it but in some situations like reading in front of the whole class out loud and speaking to people that i never met before just makes me stutter a lot and i feel very embarrassed , I even went to a speech therapist and she has told me some techniques to overcome with stuttering like singing your words and take deep breathes after a comma or a full stop and it has helped me a lot so I hope you can overcome stuttering :D

As a person who stutters I get you my man. I would say it is something that you cannot control. It just happens. To me, it is like my brain stops. Luckily, mine isn't that bad anymore and being a biology major in school I understand why it happens. But basically it is like my mind and throat turn off and I can't speak. It is bizarre but I have friends and family who accept it and they have to accept me for who I am. Thanks for the video, it means a lot to people like me. But don't ever apologize for it, it is part of whom you are. Keep your head up, you can't help it like me and there are people like you out there.

I relate to this video so much. Never apologise for having a stutter because it's not your fault. One way I deal with my stutter is owning it. If someone ever says anything to me i just say yeah and what once you do that no one can make fun of you because you own it and your not giving them the reaction they want. A few techniques I have learnt from my speech therapist is sliding. Sliding is when you prolong the first letter of your word or sentence. This doesn't work for everyone it all depends on who you are. Another technique is stopping taking 3 deep breaths and starting again. U r a really cool dude and u should never let anyone drag u down because they're only jealous of your level of confidence and maturness.

You are so very brave for making this video. I myself too have a stutter and honestly it's wonderful to be able to see something this natural and uncensored on the internet to make us all realize we aren't the only ones out there with this issue.
I have always had my stutter since I was very young and it has improved greatly, but it is still there. Especially when making phone calls, or saying my first and last name. It's a definite. I currently don't have a video camera but once I get one, I would love to shoot a video reply your way. I've never thought about making videos about my stutter to be able to push through it, but you seriously may be onto something here.
Most importantly... DON'T APOLOGIZE FOR YOUR STUTTER OR YOUR ACTIONS BECAUSE OF IT.

      yes

    • @jarret7789
      @jarret7789 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Brianna Soto yes there are. You have "open stuttering" and "hidden stuttering" this type what you see above is open stuttering. You just can't get out of your words what are you trying to say.
Hidden stutterers ( what i am ) are finding an other way to say something else with the exact same meaning but other words. Sometimes they skip words because they know they are gonna stutter at some words.
I have my stutter in control by alot of practising en hard work. But even now i have ups and downs. I am a Fitness and Volleyball trainer and i enjoy life every second now. And i got alot of respect for this guy posting things like this on youtube.

Yeah I have the type of stuttering called "hidden stuttering" but sometimes if I'm under pressure while talking I forget to change my wording and get stuck on words. I got teased but then I started sticking up for myself and one if the boys that teased me is a good friend now!

    • @roy1701d
      @roy1701d 5 ปีที่แล้ว

There are many different types of stutter. Most stutterers get stuck on consonants, but the troublesome consonants can vary ("L" is very difficult for me, but it might be "M" for someone else). Other stutterers get stuck on vowels. Some might block in the middle of words; some only get stuck on the initial letters. One common trait I've noticed among stutterers is "letting go" of the "S" sound. Stuttering is basically unique to the stutterer. No two are exactly alike. 🙂

I am 21 years old, and I have been stuttering since my first memory. Not all people who stutter are confident and strong, including me. I can't stand the fact that I need to do presentations in front of people in university, but I'd love to. It is like an inner conflict and fighting, it brings me headaches. I don't really stutter as much as you. Sometimes I take a deep breath and start talking very slow that the beginning of each word comes out slowly. Hell I can't say my name if someone asks me. xD
I hope one day there will be a cure for this, because a lot of people who stutter get no proper support (including me) and we really don't deserve it.
