Does whispering help in reducing blocks?

I'm 37 years old and have been stuttering since I was 10 years old. I didn't have any speech problem before that. My father apparently also stuttered when he was younger and so did two of my sisters (our stuttering is very likely caused by traumas + maybe by genetics) I always had problems with blocks especially. Some words absolutely refused to come out so I used to have to write some words on paper and showing the paper to the person I was speaking with. Recently my psychotherapist suggested that we only try to whisper, because I told her that I don't stutter at all when I whisper (or when I talk to animals or babies). After that every time I was having a hard time with my speech I whispered the word. Now I do it with my family members and in the mental health group I go two times a week. I know it probably won't work for everyone or maybe some feel weird about the idea of suddenly whispering certain words but for me it has worked. When I started doing it in the group I did whisper to them "so I'm whispering now because for some reason I don't stutter at all when I whisper, by whispering I can get though some hard blocks, I hope you don't mind". Fortunately everyone was okay with it. (Sorry for any possible spelling errors, english isn't my mother language).

Scientists are reportedly close to identifying the stuttering gene. It'll be a great thing to use CRISPR Cas9 identify and cut out these stuttering genes from the DNA.

The video started you stuttered some the first few seconds..and you put that thing in your ear...was that an echo piece so you could hear your self with an echo I suspect!

At 5 seconds what did you put in your ear?? Delayed auditory feedback??? Exactly what I need so I can speak!!!

Ur absolutely right, I’ve got stammering as well and any time I try to speaks in a completely different a accent it goes away completely . I also tried to do the opposite of not stammering by stammering and I found that when I let it out it doesn’t seem to want to stammer.

The "s" sound is a very common stutter trigger. I experienced it pretty much everyday when my stutter was really bad and it also just felt like I couldn't speak at all, like the words were unable to leave my mouth. Its really ironic that the word stutter begins with an "s" but I kind of feel like that word was made by non-stutterers, 99 percenters as I call them, who knew the "s" sound is a common trigger. The literal words "speech" and "speak" also starts when an "s". Sometimes I would bang my fist or tap my fingers on a surface a couple of times just to get a word out. Some people think a slow internet connection is frustrating or getting a lot of ads or emptying the recycle bin, imagine struggling to say a simple sentence like "How was your day" on a daily basis. People dont realize how lucky they are. Its truly inspiring to see people with stutters speak openly and without fear. This video made my day. Its nice to know that Im not alone in the struggle.
