I think it's because she's unpredictable, she sometimes puts out an incredible performance and others she seems like she's in the worst form of her life. For England at least, I think she works better as a sub currently rather than a starter.

Mary, you really shouldn't discredit yourself you are a fantastic goalkeeper and just look back to all the fantastic times you've saved the team, winning the Euro's and being in the final of the World Cup, not to mention the penalty shoot out... a great performance all around last night.
So please stop beating yourself up, even the outfield players made errors.

Mary Earps has saved this team so many times. Not to mention her general contribution to the team. Sarina knows her leadership qualities, as evidenced by the captains armband in this game. Her distress in letting that last goal in just shows her commitment to the team and to her job. She's a true professional. There is a lot of responsibility on goalkeepers shoulders. That diving save she made in the second half was fantastic. One of my favourite moments in all football history was her saving that penalty against Spain in the WC final. Her power and focused fighting spirit lifted the whole team, not to mention the fans. We are lucky to have you, Mary! God speed and on the the next game.
What a cracking game, atmosphere was superb, England’s second half performance going forward was top class. The only mistake Mary Earps made was beating herself up, she’s a class act and we wouldn’t want anyone else in the sticks but her. I must say, Seb & Emma’s commentary is so good, I love how passionate they are 🏴🏴🏴

Dutch are playing Belgium and if they match England's result, we are out... He means that if both Netherlands and England win ( for example we both win 1-0 ) , we need to score ' at least ' 3 more than the Dutch. As they are already +3 ahead of us , and they win 1-0 , England need to win at least 4-0. Even then , its still complicated. If Belgium win , England must still win , but 1-0 would do.
@@richard6440 I stand corrected. I thought it would have been head to head results with away goals considered (not the case. Then each team won one and lost the other game). if points are tied between two teams. It will be goal difference (but if three teams time in points, Scotland (4th team) results will be cancelled. And results between three teams head to head will be checked). Not going to happen not matter what was the results of the last round).
Great to see Beth Mead back in an England shirt too. Another great player and one of the hardest workers in an amazing England team is Lauren Hemp her work rate is second to none.

I must admit the first half was hard to watch. I do not think you can blame Mary Earp's for a bad defence making silly mistakes . The second half was almost like watching the Euro's with a good performance all round by the Lionesses.

All goalkeepers make a mistake eventually. She has shown she is world class, but these things happen. When we have needed her in the past she has been there. She needs to move from Man Utd to play at top level in Champs league going far in competition as she deserves that.
I am not concerned as I trust Earps to perform.

Great fight back after the mistakes were made in first half! Great goals and chances created the belief and character to keep fighting to try get that fourth goal. We didn’t get the 2 goals but we won the game! Keep on fighting lionesses bring on the the next one 🏴

Man Utd has some kind of goalkeeper curse going on. Onana looked truly world class before he came to Utd and now Earps has been below her usual standards for a while now since the World Cup final.
Mary Earps made “A” mistake. But the rest of the team, forwards specially, did not do very well in the first half. The way they played the first half was enough to go to the half time break either leveled or ahead. The midfield created tons of opportunities and the forwards did not finish any of them. I am glad they came back, that is always a big boost of confidence. But there was no need to be in this position

There were a few players who were very inaffective in the first half (won't name names, they know who they are) they hardly had a touch of the ball, and their positioning and reading of the game was pretty woeful. M'Earps shouldn't be so hard on herself, they all need to take their individual responsibility for the situation they find themselves in, including the coach.

How much courage does it take to come out and give an interview and apologise for a (in her mind) bad performance and letting the team down. You don't see that very often particularly in the men's game. Nothing selfish about what she did she was just distraught about giving a away a soft goal when England needed to win by 2. Your comment is very harsh on a player who has been so consistent over the years.
Takes guts to front up to your mistakes in the professional world, the initial comment on here reads more like personal dislike than criticism.
