  • PART 1: In this heart-wrenching episode, Irene Wonder reveals the dark side of her early years under the guardianship of a lawyer who was supposed to protect her. From a tender age of 15, Irene was forced into a relationship that shattered her innocence and altered the course of her life. She tells me the horror of aborting thrice, all under duress. This episode promises survival in a world where those meant to guard us can sometimes be our greatest destroyers. .

    About Irene Wonder
Irene Wonder was born in Thika and raised in various towns including Matuu, Nairobi, Mwea, and Kivaa. Her childhood was a blend of adventures and dark moments, with her father, her hero, ensuring they always felt like the wealthiest family through weekend adventures and family outings. However, beneath the surface, Irene witnessed bouts of anger, fights, and emotional abuse towards her mother, which eventually led to her parents' separation and her father's tragic suicide.
Despite these challenges, Irene experienced a spiritual awakening from a young age, finding solace and purpose in her vivid dreams, healing insights, and active participation in church activities. Her search for a savior led her through tumultuous relationships with a lawyer, a journalist, an accountant, and a telco worker, each bringing their own set of trials and lessons.
Her story, captured in her book "Unveiling Blessings In Disguise," is a testament to her resilience and her mission to support others guided by the divine. "You are the savior you have been waiting for!"

This is a case of child abuse and grooming. This Lawyer took advantage of her and never loved her. Jagero please in such interviews make it clear that this is abuse and crime and explain why it is so that anybody listening can understand the same and maybe save themselves or someone else. Our society still does not understand these things. I’ve already seen someone in the comments saying she accepted it. A child cannot consent to sex or grooming. A lot needs to be done still. Having these conversations so raw like this is definitely a step in the right direction. Keep up the good work

Your point about consent is absolutely correct. A child cannot consent to sexual activity under any circumstances. It is exploitation and abuse. We encourage anyone who is experiencing or has experienced abuse to seek help. There are resources available. Please don't hesitate to reach out to a trusted adult, a hotline, or a mental health professional.
We also value your feedback and will continue to strive for discussions that promote awareness and understanding of these critical issues.

I wouldn't question the mother. Especially hearing what the hell her mother had gone through with her father and culminating into the father committing suicide.
Trauma and excruciating pain have a way of numbing people such that they just flow with time and life, and the sense of caring just goes out of the window.

Why did you turn off comments in part 2?
Anyway, pls invite Alliet and Probably Amerix (on zoom) to disect this episode and probably the book. There's so much there to digest.
I have a son, i am afraid that he may fall in love with a girl and then 10 years later the girl claims that the consent she gave was not very consensual.
Also she said the father was violent. I am as meek as a lamb, but been in a situation i almost slapped a girl.
Most women have the same attitudes as their mom. Could her mom's personality have enabled what she went thru, and even the father's "violence?" Alliet!!

I know of hundreds of mothers' who have taken their daughters for prostitution.
Why does she extend grace to her mom and non to her dad who committed suicide? Even in death, the man finds no grace. Aliet Please.

We appreciate your interest in the episode and your concerns. We disabled comments for Part 2 to manage the volume and focus on the content itself. We're always open to feedback and consider suggestions for future episodes.
Inviting Alliet and Probably Amerix is a great idea! Their perspectives would undoubtedly enrich the conversation. We'll consider them for upcoming episodes.
Your concerns about consent and violence are valid and reflect the nature of the issues we discussed. We can, and need to, approach these topics with empathy and understanding. We encourage open dialogue and critical thinking.
The influence of parents on their children's worldview is essential, especially when we acknowledge the potential impact of parental figures. People are also autonomous beings capable of making their own choices, including learning from the past and living a better and more meaningful life.

I would listen to Wonder allllll day. Your innocence was taken away... You knew too much as a child. Saying outright that you wanted the lawyer to be your boyfriend is way too bold for a 16 year old. It would be interesting to know what life experiences actually led to this. Your story doesn't actually begin with the lawyer...
