Hi. I was 21 when i saw them in 1978. It was so good. I love all these videos from 1976-1979. I love all of his videos, i only selected these years b/c of all the songs they did at these shows and how great the band was.
No matter what mood I'm in this song makes me happy The pretender, fountain of sorrow, these days I'm 73 went to woodstock but Jackson Brown is my drug of choice
@@dingodancerEven more relevant now than the sum of the amount of relevance 2 years ago (how does one properly quantify the degree or amount of relevance, pray tell? What label can be assigned? Unit? That'll work for now, but we 3 may have something we can monetize, you, me and our inspiration from down under, unless @dingodancer has the soul of an Aussie trapped in a body presently elsewhere.) Did I say "sum"? Let us instead get exponential here. This song has achieved a level of relevance heretofore undreamt of simply by virtue of the unexpected delay of the deluge. This song is now as relevant as its degree of relevance in 2022 raised to the power of its degree in 2021. That is quite a bit of relevance, and I'm not trying to annoy either of youor make light of the seriously messed up world we find ourselves in. This is the best version of the greatest song Jackson Browne has written yet, and that is saying something. I have looked often for the No Nukes performances since I first came to TH-cam only to find these amazing performances perforated with propaganda....or public service announcements, I guess, depending on your geopolitical alignment. Damn it. I don't wish to argue politics or anything else with people with whom I share the angst of our zeitgeist. Jackson Browne has been my best and sometimes only friend since I first heard him, and I am 64.5 years of age. My mind, my spirit and my sense of hope are not even half that age, but due to my arthritis, much of the rest of my body is nearly 100. And the late, great David Lindley's performance on this version of this song was his greatest. My ex-bandmates and myself were surprised that David Lindley was not a member of The Immediate Family, since every member of that band of immortals was in the band that supported Jackson on his masterpiece "Running on Empty", except Steve, that young whippersnapper. If I am talking to myself now, or to people who may be younger and wonder what the hell I'm talking about and when I went off the rails, or even to people who know some of what I'm talking about but also wonder when I went off the rails, I apologize. I'm not off the rails. Yet. But if I'm talking to anyone who knows exactly what and who I'm talking about, I still apologize for this rant. It wasn't my intention to speechify or compose a book, but I tend to be effusive about those who and that which I love, so I can't really retract any thing I've said, but I do apologize for taking so long to completely agree with what you both said so succinctly.
I think it is becoming more true every day, and this has been my favorite song since the 1st time I heard it in 1974. And you are also correct in your assessment of this as the definitive performance of this monument of a song. I was concerned that the audio track was ravaged by the propaganda injected into the video. Propaganda or public service announcements, I guess, depending on your current position along the geopolitical spectrum. It was butchery. But at least they didn't permanently destroy this unparalleled performance. And at least we didn't wait until David Lindley was gone to get a clue about it. David has always been Jackson's secret weapon. I don't know if you are aware of a secret little ditty, little known except over on the west coast. It's more vulgar than risque, and it's not quite 2 minutes long, but "You don't want me, you just want meat, you asshole you" is a riot If you're already offended, I apologize, and please don't report me. Jackson says he didn't write the song, but if he wrote "Rosie" (from Running on Empty), he wrote "You don't want me..". They are a little too similar in melody and content for me to believe they were written by different people.
@@samueladams4218 True, it’s very economical and, compared to fossil fuel, much cleaner. However, accidents such as this and Chernobyl caused so much fear.
Saw him in 1979 at a rally at the Civic Center in San Francisco performing this. He was a surprise guest introduced by Bonnie Raitt. I'll never forget this one girl whirling around shouting out whoops of joy. Great weekend.
What a shame there are no more radio stations playing classic Album-Oriented Rock (AOR). These artists are not getting airplay anymore, therefore not continuing to earn royalties, not even on jukeboxes, which also provided them royalty income in the past. These days everybody's got their gadgets where they have to download music that can provide some royalty income for artists, but we can imagine that very few of them are even being downloaded because younger generations are virtually unaware that they existed or how much they contributed to musical history, inspiration, etc. I had the fortunate experience of seeing Jackson Browne play at Arcosanti in Arizona way back in the 70s.

bring nostalgic memories when the youth in my country philippines brought issues on non nuclear proliferation to its highest level in the streets! no nukes lives on !
Wasn't able to attend the concert, so I bought the vinyl. This is such a powerful song, and the instrumentation and background singers make it exquisite. Love it!
***** Sorry mate, but that's JB's own touring band backing him. JB/piano; David Lindley/fiddle; Craig Doerge/organ & string synth; Russ Kunkel/drums; Bob Glaub/bass; Doug Haywood & Rosemary Butler/vocals; Jody Linscott/percussion. Browne & Butler did sing "Stay" with Springsteen & his band.
So nice to hear such a nice reply with corrections in this day and age. I've seen many angry and rude replies when someone simply makes an honest mistake. Why are they so angry and hostile to someone they don't even know?

R.I.P. David Lindley. A TRUE string instrument virtuoso.
I saw the elusive Mr. Lindley a number of times. The funniest performer of genius level perfection on an oud.
I was a 17-year-old who was lucky enough to be there for this in person. If I need a pep-up, this is it.
Absolutely amazing!! I bought this LP in 1980 and it’s still spectacular. It must have been unreal to be there in person.

Today David is 80 !
Emerald with envy Kristen!
Lindley kills it the outro solo. Still sends a chill down my spine!
Extra chills hearing this today. RIP, David.

I am now 67 in 2024, i will be 68 in Oct. 2024 .I recently got a letter that was announcing my High Schools 50th reunion.
The most powerful version of a powerful song! It’s almost 2022 and it’s just as true today.
Actually it's just turned 2024. Still relevant.,.sadly.

David Lindley really was the star, his fiddle was on fire. Best version of a great song
Such a magical piece of music.
Here today to hear David Linley on electric fiddle, RIP!

Pure genius
No one is better than Jackson and David together
His best song I'd say..and I was a radio dj in hot market..we were starmakers in days of real radio
The Band...
Jackson Browne Piano Vocals
David Lindley Fiddle
Bob Glaub Bass
Russ Kunkel Drums
Craig Doerge Organ

The best singer songwriter of our time folks!!! Enjoy him while he's still around..........
For sure!
Ozzie Balan. Jackson Browne forever. His music is what we all live for. Inspirational and timeless. My fav singer of all time
Amen!
I heard several versions of this song, but this one has the best violin solo in it.
David Lindley darn near saws that fiddle in half.
And the organ, plus Rosemary’s vocals
Absolutely agree.
This version has the best violin solo.
It doesn't get any better than this
Perfection in music history. "Bring it home; David"......
let the music keep our spirits high.
Thirteen minutes of one of the best live songs ever.
All the better if you were there, most of my folk heroes fronted up for humanity here!
Thirteen minutes ?
Mike he played it twice 🤙🏻
Usually I sleep with some songs too .

Browne and Lindley gave us amazing lyrics and strings. Thank you for everything.
Japan's crisis has me crying as I listen to this prophetic song.
My Fav version-Lindley Unleased (like in Tulsa Stop Black Fox Nuke Plant concert)
nostalgia of the no nukes concert at NY square garden c. 1979

Hey Big Red. Love your work, especially for Jackson. This may be one of the best versions.
No other version of this song is as good. Pretty sure Springsteen's band backing Brown is the reason.

Why was there not a '40 years No Nukes' festival like there were several for '50 years Woodstock' this year.
David lindley allround musician (Wizzard)
I just happened to be there at both of them
The passion of the cause so well 'shown' in the music. I'd happily pay to buy this concert on video, if I could ever find it . . . . .?????
From the No Nukes concert. Its out rhere
In 1979, I was at the one at San Francisco civiv center.. regarding Diablo Nuclear power plant. Is this the same performance?
One of the best 'story' songs ever...and this is the best version. Brown fails in all the others....
We were at the Cuesta College No Nukes concert in 1979 in San Luis Obispo. Does anyone know if this audio is from that one or the NYC concert?
I went to Cuesta College in 1984. I wish i would have seen that concert. JB ROCKS!!
I was at the Madison Square Gardens shows from which the video and double album were released, this is definitely from that :-)
Sharon Penny I was there too.
The Cuesta College show was great! Amazing singers and players (as I recall through the dim recesses of time!)
