    One of my top three shows provides great information and is very knowledgeable about the topics discussed, far surpassing some of the know-it-all shows.

    2 musts in order to get the level coordinators that we need to fix this mess relatively quickly: 1) Norvell must give up play calling and allow an entirely new offensive scheme to come in. 2) minimum 5 more coaches have to go so the coordinators can bring in who they need. Bonus: get a dog to come in and be a recruiting director

      Agreed, and I think both happen. He has stated that he's open to whatever helps the program be successful, including giving up play calling. I'm sure he'll still be involved in the game planning, but I like the idea of not having him as the primary play caller so he can focus on managing all aspects of the program. I also expect there to be a lot more firings once the season is over. I'm sure the new coordinators will want to bring in some new guys, too. The recruiting must get better, so I'm all for that as well!

    Someone please explain to me or give examples on how Bud Elliot is an asset to the FSU fan base. Don’t think I have ever heard a compliment or favorable sentiment about FSU come from him. Ever. To be clear, I am talking a genuine compliment or direct support.

    We all wanted Coach Prime a few years ago but according to the AD Prime didn’t have enough coaching experience 🤦🏾‍♂️

    • @UnconqueredNole
      @UnconqueredNole วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Prime also didn't have a college degree at the time of Norvell’s hiring. This is why he had to go to Tuskegee university to finish his degree just to be eligible to coach at Jackson State.

    Jesse the defense SUCKS and is unacceptable by FSU standards and this isn't based just on a 1 year (2024). 4 out of his 5 years, the defense has been below expectations and he is not an asset recruiting. Your DC, probably more so than the OC has to be stud recruiter.

    • @plantthespear
      @plantthespear  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I don't disagree, although it was a top 20 scoring defense in 2022 as well. It can certainly be better, and he has not been a great recruiter either. I don't disagree with Michael's points, but I do think the offense being terrible wears them out, and things usually come apart late in games. Regardless, it hasn't been good enough, so I'm all for a change at the position.

      @@plantthespearFuller's scheme is fine and as we saw last season it can work, but in order for it to work you have to have stacked talent. If you don't it looks like this. We need a defense that's more multiple and adjustable to get to where we need to go. If Purdue moves on from Ryan Walters I'd hire him in a heartbeat.
      He hasn't been great as a HC but he's an elite DC who has ran successful defenses in the Big10 and the SEC, he won the Broyles award in 2022 when he had the best defense in the country at Illinois, and he's only 36 years old and a relentless recruiter. He would be my first choice

  • @MrPanoles1
    @MrPanoles1 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    I see some turning those nose up at Mullen bc of recruting. Dan Mullen would be a home run OC hire. His offense as a play caller and schematic is damn good. We just need to surround him with other elite level recruiters and NORVELL himself need to place emphasis on HS recruiting and it's importance. You cannot sustain a winning program at the level FSU desires (OSU, BAMA, TX, PSU, Oregon, etc.) having to dip into the portal every year for a majority of the next season's starters.

    • @plantthespear
      @plantthespear  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Definitely agree that the portal can't be the foundation of a program. It's a great way to plug holes, but high school recruiting still needs to be the lifeline. Mullen would be a great OC hire. He would bring head coaching experience, and Norvell could hand the keys over and focus on running the entire program. As you said, the key would be to surround him with great recruiters on the offensive staff. I just wonder if he would take a coordinator position.

      I haven't, but I can imagine it's been weighing heavily on him. I'm sure he's glad to finally have that weight off his shoulders so he can start moving forward on making changes.

    If they get Dan Mullen, Norvel will fired for sure next year. That's a joke of a pick.

    Hopefully Purdue moves on from Ryan Walters and we can get him back to what he does best, coordinating elite defense and killing it in recruiting.

    Randy, is gone and probably several other coaches. Norvell had to keep a defensive play caller. I guarantee you that Norvell has already talked to several recruits. Muschamp, Mullen, two ex head coaches that can recruit. They are chomping at the bit to get back into the game. When you have it in your blood, you don’t want to sit behind the desk, you want to get back on the field. That could be the last straw. Great recruiters, good motivators.
