Tim's tunes should have just as much success. I think he masterfully wrote clever songs that hinted at brooding while comical at the same time. I think he is just as good of a songwriter as his brother, and their collaborations have produced great songs.
Always skipped this song on my cd playing in the car till the day I jumped in to leave work after a call to say my mother passed away, this song came on within a minute of me leaving, First time I understood the song now I love it.
Another under-appreciated gem from Split Enz's less-well known era. Srange that Neil Finn's songs for the band generally had more commercial success, when Tim could write and sing such beautiful lyrics and melodies.
a true love song that is honest in it's title. i bet more often than not couples who say i will love you till the end of time end up getting fed up or cheat on their partners. this is pure and the music is emotionally captivating. well done boys
I know this reply is 4 years late, but no one answered, so I feel I must! The Eddie he is referring to is Eddie Vedder. He is friends with the Finn brothers, and sings their songs in a lot of his shows. He's been a surprised guest at a bunch of their shows, as well.
I am here 'cause of Belinda Carlisle. I'm sorry if that desappoints somebody. I enjoy this original version, bug the crescendo in BC's song is so amazing too.
This is definitely the remix. The VOX in the original is thinner, less detailed, and buried in the mix. I have both versions. It's a tremendous song either way... Brilliant writing by Tim.
Cool. I'll have to go fire up the studio computer and listen to the two side by side. From memory, I know there is some added "room echo" on the VOX in this, that isn't audible on the original.
Neil Jamison There are fantastic memories attached to split enz and crowded house songs for me. A couple of fantastic bands I love hearing their songs.
earliest memory of crowded house was of me and my best friend when we were six and seven dancing on her mothers bed to that some something so strong... truly amazing time that was. and then having forgotten about them for so long, i was chuffed when i rediscovered them at ages sixteen.
+indiana christiansen I feel the same way when reading the things written between 1750 and 1910. Then there's a gap where the few people writing stuff worth reading really putting a hurt on you with their negative/practical vibes or speaking nerd, and then there's a bit of Heinlein and company and then suddenly there are billions of people writing or being translated into English and for all I know there is heaps of good stuff out there but we will live in a perverse age where you can't find anything for all the noise.
Listening to this and thinking of my beautiful late wife- I miss you sweetheart❤️

This is one of the most beautiful songs ever written!
One of the finest song's ever written ,beautiful, haunting and moving 😊
This is probably my all time favourite song. It turns me to jelly and gives me chills up my spine. Every time I hear it I fall in love.
Always skipped this song on my cd playing in the car till the day I jumped in to leave work after a call to say my mother passed away, this song came on within a minute of me leaving, First time I understood the song now I love it.
juzz she reminded ýou.x

Tremendous
Love the price tag on the album cover :)
Bloody loved this song for years. ❤
Possibly the best album of 1979
The best New Zealand song from the era missed being the worlds biggest song
So anthemic, so moving. If only it wouldn’t fade out so quickly.
Wish this album was on Spotify😭
One of the finest songs ever
Wonderful arrangement and vocal harmonies.
+Tom Christie isn't it just
Tim Finn wrote great songs about love - Six months in a leaky boat, I hope I never and this. The dark side of the force approves.
Beautiful song. Taking me back.
my new album of the week is "Frenzy" by Split Enz released in 1979.
Beautiful.
I had the impromptu chance, no cover charge, of seeing these guys 1979 in a small pub in NSW between Richmond and Sydney.
O myyy, is this the original version?? Beautifull!!!!

Or perhaps their pianist Eddie Rayner?
Brilliant and Beautiful
Pure brilliance.
One of the ultimate songs for a wedding
Funny
What I wouldn't do to write a song like this - Just amazing
It's been 9 years since this comment. Did you write any nice songs?
Brilliant x
Thank you, Benjamin Jack Kata Finau
Wondrous stuff.
This could be on mental notes , timeless.

Gosteeeei, continua fazendo mais vídeos!
Great song, and thanks for uploading the 2006 remix - the original 1979 mix does not do the song justice!
Yep. It's such a sweet sweet song.
Pretty sure 1000 of these hits are mine.. god i love this song.
masterful

❤❤❤ ✨👏
¿Por que esta canción no esta en Spotify cantada por esta banda?
Yes.
👀🤪
Beautiful song ! Just lovely ...
Eddie singing it, makes it even better !
Split Enz .. great band, tho i don't know much of it ... too bad =/
The original version is more to my taste, but still a bloody good song.
I'm pretty sure this IS the original version of the song... from 1979. Is there an earlier version I'm missing? I'd be curious to hear it.
I believe this sounds like the 2006 remaster.

I've uploaded the original to my channel.

how sad's this I first heard this by a different person. I was totally born way too late.
You're hearing it now, that's a good thing. The internet is wonderful, not around when this song was released.
