Coming from the automotive industry & having a few nice cars myself that I built from the ground up with my own two hands, I do feel your pain. Like you I’ve had to let them go in order to advance in order arias. Unfortunately I’ve become quite ill & am now unable to revisit my passion. If you intend on building yourself another car? Don’t do what I did & leave it too late. You never know what life has in store & your time is now. Your videos have kept this broken old man entertained for hours while I’m under strict instructions to do the one thing I hate, which is sit on my butt & do two thirds of FA. It’s a real joy to come on here & entertain myself with something I have a genuine interest in. This is a year late on this particular vid. But know you make a difference. Thank you both so very much for putting in the hard yards. Oh & I signed up for that new page you told us about. I feel better putting up a little something for all your fine work. Cheers Patch
I've always felt the biggest advantage of pneumatic tools was twofold. First: the air allows the tool to cool itself and not overheat. Secondly: you won't get a shock or electrocute yourself when using your tools outside in a light rain.
Great video. It is so refreshing for someone to give a straightforward answer. About why they do something the way they do it. No beating around the bush, no complicated answers. Thank you for the great videos. Wishing you a very prosperous New Year. Good luck in the future.
Awh man so glad you talked about the drift stuff! Hope you get back in the seat some day! It’s a fun hobby and a great way to take a weekend off. Thanks y’all!

Every time I watch this guy, it never ceases to blow my mind the level of genius and absurdly diverse talent and skillset he has. At the same time, it makes me sad that skilled tradesmen like him don’t seem to exist anymore in my own country, the United States. I hear you about not wanting to employ anyone, mate- I suffer the same dilemma here stateside, talent is super rare regardless of offering astronomical pay, and anyone you take a chance on doesn’t care if they sink your business, and employing anyone seems like it’s only an exercise in watching them progressively test you on what they can get away with while using what they learn to incrementally contribute less and less to the business. I wish I could come down under as a vacation and donate the time there as unpaid shop help, I’d really enjoy it. Thanks as always for the excellent contributions to TH-cam, what I’ve seen of Australia makes me wish I resided there. Very intelligent and industrious folks down there. 💪🏻💪🏻
Hello Kurtis, Jose from Puerto Rico and subscriber. I'm 66 years old and retired, but I recently picked up an interest in welding. I'm a total newbie at this, wishing I would've started out when I was young. Congrats on your awesome videos. Seeing you at work is therapeutic for me, and I'm amazed at your incredible skill level. I never get tired of watching your videos. I hope the best for you and family (which of course includes your pup).
You really do have to find someone that is young and motivated to follow your code of ethics and workmanship to pass on the gift of your knowledge and skills to someone worth your time. I think it would expand a whole new direction for your fans. Everyone starts off sweeping and cleaning the shop for a year. Second year they watch and learn and they keep their mouth shut. If they have a question they research it until they find the right answer. In around third year they do some hands on stuff one machine at a time until they know that machine inside and out. Then the next machine, then the next. Then the jobs are done to perfection or hit the road and start again. I find the best young people can learn more when they can try to answer their own questions first. Some day u will grow old. You have passed so much knowledge to “you tubers” but they won’t remember u when u gone. Trust me it be one of the best things you will ever accomplished in your life. You be so proud when you can say, wow! I couldn’t have done that any better myself. Good luck mate.
You two make a GREAT team and thanks for letting us see a master metalsmith at work. Karen's editing is impressive which makes Curtis sound like a TV newscaster. It appears you two been together for along time. BTW, very smart not to reveal costs.
It's been a tremendous year for you, alright. It's also been a tremendous year WITH you, guys. May 2023 be even kinder to you than '22 has been. That said, I am not a fan of the whole Patreon concept, but you might just be the people to make me think about it for real.
Many years back & Having had my own business, noted what was available to meet my needs for growth, and was sorely disappointed: I had my wife assist me in my business's development and found if you keep it close to home there are less certainly less distractions (could be a few - however manageable). Your videos remind me of how much time I devoted to my family & business and how entwined. Thank you for all the positive lessons in work & daily life.. Happy New Year - Thank you/wife for all you do in your own way to make the planet a better place!
Almost 500,000 subscribers!....congratulations on the growth!...I found you when you was just 20k if I remember right. Keep up the great job. Karen should be in front of the camera more....your mug is about worn out. 🤣

Thank You for what you share, I appreciate all of it ! Again, I’m a 69 yr old stroke victim from Middletown, Delaware, so using what God has given me, I’m happy as a clam to watch CEE. Thanks for a great year, please stay well ! You are wonderful people.
adding help ? People have drama, do not care about the business, not as concerned about quality, stress of running a day care center. Very well said and the best advice to young people wanting to break into and learn a real craftsman's trade from a real craftsman. We do need a new generation of crafts people, but they have to be trainable and willing to contribute value to the operation, not just a list of needs and wants.
It's the bloopers that takes the most time but gives the most laughs as well Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to the best content suppliers on the tube 👍
Honestly, I find it difficult to come up with any sort of criticism of your video schedule, your business and how you run it, and the quality of your content. You've carved out and developed a terrific niche and your customers clearly appreciate and depend on your great skill and product quality. I quadruple hear you about employees, their little goofs could cost you many thousands of dollars in a minute and they're always a disaster waiting to happen. The only time I had employees, we sold a $10,000 thing to a customer, and she rang it up as a CREDIT to the cust's credit card. Luckily we were able to reverse the transaction, but there was still $500 in 2-way fees involved. I wouldn't change anything about how you run things; it's all well thought out and done for clear reasons and you seem to have just the right amount of business to keep you hopping. Here's hoping you and Karen and Homey have a wonderful New Year! Of course due to time zones, by the time you celebrate NY eve in Aus, we're just barely getting a used one! Best regards for continued success in 2023, you've really accomplished a lot this year!
Great Q&A Kurtis and Karen. One video a week is good, keep the quality as high as it is. Thank you both for all of your efforts through the year. Happy New year.
Thanks for entertaining me in the past the year it was a very enjoyable experience. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and I wish you all the best for 2023. Maybe George'll come back and visit then. Take care
Matt in UK. Broadcaster is BBC. They had a rule of thumb that 1 minute of video takes 1 hour to produce and edit. 60:1. So, you’re right. The editing takes the time. So, try and get it right in the camera - non-trivial - but saves tons of time. I think the videos you produce are excellent. Great camera work - which I can see - and great editing - which I can’t. Keep the hierarchy there, too. The whole story, the chapters and the detail. Fantastic job, well worthy of 500k viewers - congratulations. Matt, UK
Happy to hear your common sense approach to your business models. I worked in a job shop as a 2 point steel rule die-maker for the printing and plastic industries in the mid 1980's and it was amazing how "competitive" peers and customers would get over the jobs we quoted and completed. Even had one customer start their own shop based on ours to undercut our die costs. It was a hard lesson to learn about greediness in humanity. You are correct in keeping your content down to once per week. It is much better to keep folks wanting more than it is flooding them with content and your analytics go down... One thing i think you (Kurtis) and Karen need to have is a family/business model for each other because you spend so much time together....think in the long term 10, 20 and 30 years from now! I worked for family businesses growing up in thoroughbred horse farms and it took a toll on friendships, families and marriages. Do not want you all to become a statistic... Kurtis, Karen and Homey take care in the new year and squirrel away some reserves for tough times.... Thank you!
If not a car you deserve a toy Kurtis. We all see the hard work and dedication you put into your craft, a kick around toy or something not work related could be good.
I'm a big fan of you guys. You can be proud of your business that you have built yourselves with effort and intelligence. That an uneducated person has reached a level of quality like the one we can see is really impressive and I marvel at the intelligence and skill that you demonstrate with each of the works that you undertake in the workshop. Keep on creating quality content and I will follow you from the antipodes (Spain).
I'd rather have a good quality 1/2 to 3/4 of an hour Video once a week than two short ones, I enjoy watching what you make & repair & as a Vehicle Mechanic I can relate & understand what you do, so keep doing what you do best, have a good New Year good luck stay safe both of you.
I couldn’t handle more than one episode a week. I watch each vid several times for different reasons. Sometimes it’s understanding the tooling or the set up or homey, or Karen but most often it’s the enjoyment any of your vids provide me. Keep ‘em comin!
Cheers for all the hard work you guys have done this year putting out content. I really enjoy watching the jobs you film. I’m a welder from New Zealand and really enjoy the machining jobs you get up too as it’s something I don’t get to do. I’ll definitely be joining your patron.
OMG those retro pics of "Mad Max Drifter" Kurtis were amazing! Love your content, Karen and of course Homeless. Thanks for a great 2022 and praying for your continued success.
Kurtis and Karen your focus, and stoicism is very endearing. You two set a fantastic example for those looking for how to behave, and thrive - no compromise, just do it right! Congratulations (to all 3 of you). Happy '23 and beyond. Aussie's rock
I worked in tunnel construction, and we used HPCA to power clay spades for digging winches to hoist the lining into position. Plus a whole host of hand tools for Maintenace work. Fittings changed over the years to make coupling hoses to the machine safer, in the old days we became very good at grabbing a loose hose and doubling it over to shut of the air. Though funny to see a laborer trying to double an electric cable to stop a drill machine twisting.@@killstrees
One per week is perfect in my opinion. You are running a business and editing is hours of reviewing. I'm not a machinist but I really appreciate well made things and repairs. Seeing how it's done is really cool to me. Happy new year to you 3 and I look forward to more videos in 2023!
if you have to drill a 45mm hole for your boring bar, if you drill a pilot hole with a 10-15mm drill bit. if you can drill through 150 mm in 2-3 minutes, then it is twice as fast to drill the 45 mm drill through the 150 mm. I took my time on it... I also made a connection from the sled to the pinol dock so that the sled pulls the pinol dock. It's actually quite good for many things. but not when material must be removed quickly .
there are a ton of other machinist videos out there and the reason I watch your channel is entirely because of the quality of your videos and of course because of homey.
Very true. Seeing Homey again each week always puts a smile on my face. It makes me happy, maybe even more so because it means that Friday becomes a good way to conclude the week.
Happy New Year mate, been watching many of your videos lately, top quality engineering! Hope that 2023 brings you, Karen and Homie a fantastic year with more progress and growth on your excellent channel.
WHY IS THERE NO PINNED COMMENTS OR OUTRAGE FOR HIM TO GET ANOTHER DRIFT CAR?!?! Could you imagine a sub series of a master machinist building a project car. My god I'm already excited.
In the past I had asked the "employee" question, and I feel the exact same way. It's virtually impossible to find anyone who will care as much as you about quality and customer service. It's awesome you found a way to do this by yourself, I always wanted to find a business I could do without having the drama and problems that come with employees. Happy New Year to you two! I look forward to your new projects, those old machines are so cool!
I cannot stop respecting your honesty, deep knowledge about your job, professionalism of your work, love of nature and everything about Curtis, your shop and family!! Keep it up! Just do what you think is correct cuz I’m backing you up with all the decision you make :)
As a professional driver and performance driving instructor with a hobby machining and hot rod habit I have to say you just got a TON cooler Kurtis - if that were even possible. 😆 Honestly, though, finding out you used to drift is a cool background story. And the car looked absolutely sweet. I think the shop and business is a great step up and I'm glad you, Karen and Homeless give us a little bit of your time to share what you do!
If you set a GFM for a drift car,I'd chip in regularly. You have given me so much extra knowledge...all in your own time and for free. I'm sure there are plenty of followers who would be happy to give back.
"are you planning to get a new drift car".. Karen asking holding a shop made rolling bin an waiting for the answer 🤣 Have a well deserved break and Happy New Year and yourself, Karen and Homie keep up the excellent work and videos.
Just me sad he didn’t dump the clutch and kick it sideways at the end?? Ahh but the now older, wiser, dad in me recognized the simple enjoyable tameness. (But i bet you grin a lil on curves thinking how you would, could, or had, drifted some like them 😉)

I've always been incredibly impressed by the quality of the work y'all do and the ingenuity of your solutions. Learning that it's just Kurtis doing all this machining absolutely floored me. Seeing Kurtis with an eyebrow piercing was completely unexpected as well!
I do enjoy your videos. As a experienced manager of over 40 years, I can understand your desire to maintain a high quality by doing everything yourself, but I do think you are setting yourself up for a big business problem. what will happen to your business if you are sick? get injured? what if you cannot work for 3 months? a year? I have learned that you always have backups to your company so it can run if you are not there. What happens if you want to retire someday? Who will do the work that you used to do? You should always have a right hand person who can step in when needed. This just my opinion, but I do recommend that you think about it.

thank you mate we appreciate it
Please stay with the one video per week pace on TH-cam. I really look forward to my Fridays for your new videos, I can imagine how much time and effort goes into preparing them and I don’t want you to get burned out producing/editing/posting them.
Thanks for everything over the past year, have a safe great new year. Looking forward to seeing you all
I've always felt the biggest advantage of pneumatic tools was twofold. First: the air allows the tool to cool itself and not overheat.
Secondly: you won't get a shock or electrocute yourself when using your tools outside in a light rain.
Thanks for your time. 1 video a week is just fine. Happy New Year!
We allllllmost got a F*CK OFF PLANE this time! Dont worry about other competitors you guys, the quality and attention to detail you have is incredible🤜
"...and I don't have the added stress of running a day care facility!" Classic.
Thanks for the entertainment and a happy, safe new year to you too.
Cheers. Bob
Cheers mate thanks for the support & Happy new year!
you are one of the best on youtube, you do fantastic work and the videography is professional level, my weekly favorite, once a week is a fine schedule
Wow, thank you!
Never sacrifice quality for quantity - this channel's editing and cinematography are absolutely perfect😁😁
@13:45 Everyone needs to own a car that makes them smile like that years later! Kurtis, you are such a great source of positive energy and inspiration, and the outtakes are a masterclass in practical profanity. Looking forward to the fun on Patreon🙂
cheers mate glad you enjoy it & thanks for the support!
@@CuttingEdgeEngineering oh and by the way your hat brim wasn't straight or level. Where's your latest Christmas gift. Hmm.
please stay with one video a week, and keep the high quality content! happy new year from Sweden
That's the plan!
It’s been great to be a viewer all this time !!! Wishing you and everyone a happy & prosperous new year. John
Cheers mate thanks for the support & Happy new year!
It's been a tremendous year for you, alright. It's also been a tremendous year WITH you, guys. May 2023 be even kinder to you than '22 has been.
That said, I am not a fan of the whole Patreon concept, but you might just be the people to make me think about it for real.
Hey mate thanks for supporting the channel & videos! We know Patreon isn't for everyone and hope you keep enjoying our weekly TH-cam vids 😁👍
This guy is a grumpy no nonsense type of guy that knows his stuff. I respect that so much.
Almost 500,000 subscribers!....congratulations on the growth!...I found you when you was just 20k if I remember right. Keep up the great job. Karen should be in front of the camera more....your mug is about worn out. 🤣
Hey mate yes you've been here since the beginning! And Homey still has his first toy from you!! Karen will be making appearances in our Patreon community 😁👍
Ya, let's see Karen doing some welding and lathe work. New year, time for a new hat?
Hope you all have great time off, see you in the New Year. 🇬🇧
Gday, thanks for all the awesome content throughout the year and thanks for the shout out, it’s definitely been a busy year and I dare say your going to have a bigger one in 2023, I’m off to check out the Patreon now, have a great New Years, Cheers
Hey Matty always happy to give you a shoutout, those parts you made for the jig borer are spot on 👍 Hopefully see you again sometime soon. Enjoy your New Years mate, cheers Kurtis & Karen
G'day Matty
Thanks for all the great video's of last year!!
Anybody not yet subscribed, let's get CEE to 500k subs!!
Cheers mate thanks for the support & Happy new year!
Hope you have a great break and well deserved rest Kurtis, Karen and Homey 🎉… have a good one, all the best from 🇬🇧
hey mate we're enjoying the interruption free time! Have a Happy New Year
It's the bloopers that takes the most time but gives the most laughs as well Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to the best content suppliers on the tube 👍
Wishing you guys a Happy and prosperous New Year!
Cheers from Canada!
Happy new year guys once again for tomorrow night and I hope everyone obtained the answers they were seeking.
Thanks for entertaining me in the past the year it was a very enjoyable experience. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and I wish you all the best for 2023. Maybe George'll come back and visit then. Take care
Cheers mate thanks for the support & Happy new year!
One thing
i think you (Kurtis) and Karen need to have is a family/business model for each other because you spend so much time together....think in the long term 10, 20 and 30 years from now!
Collaboration with the skid factory? That would be cool. Happy new year and thank you!
Like a two stroke go cart he could get sideways perhaps.
Happy New Year from USA.🎉🇺🇸 Thanks for a great year of entertainment and knowledge learned. Can't wait to see what you guys can do in 2023!
Cheers mate thanks for the support & Happy new year!
Cheers mate thanks very much for the support & Happy new year!
Uneducated??
F***k he is a master
I'd rather have a good quality 1/2 to 3/4 of an hour Video once a week than two short ones, I enjoy watching what you make & repair & as a Vehicle Mechanic I can relate & understand what you do, so keep doing what you do best, have a good New Year good luck stay safe both of you.
I couldn’t handle more than one episode a week. I watch each vid several times for different reasons. Sometimes it’s understanding the tooling or the set up or homey, or Karen but most often it’s the enjoyment any of your vids provide me. Keep ‘em comin!
Respect from the UK. Happy New Year to you both and your family
Happy new year!
Cheers for all the hard work you guys have done this year putting out content. I really enjoy watching the jobs you film. I’m a welder from New Zealand and really enjoy the machining jobs you get up too as it’s something I don’t get to do. I’ll definitely be joining your patron.
hey mate thanks for the support, glad you're enjoying the content, see you in the Patron community!
Have a happy and healthy and prosperous new year.
Kurtis, Karen, and Homeless, I look forward to seeing y'all in 2023.
Cheers mate thanks for the support & Happy new year!
OMG those retro pics of "Mad Max Drifter" Kurtis were amazing! Love your content, Karen and of course Homeless. Thanks for a great 2022 and praying for your continued success.
You guys are awsome.
I follow you guys from Quebec Canada. Keep those videos coming
Happy New Year to the both of you. Stay safe.
Honestly I like the video coming out on Friday. For me I use your videos to relax at the end of the week. Keep up the good work
As soon as I heard patreon I went and subscribed to the highest level. Thanks for the great videos!
Kurtis and Karen your focus, and stoicism is very endearing. You two set a fantastic example for those looking for how to behave, and thrive - no compromise, just do it right! Congratulations (to all 3 of you). Happy '23 and beyond. Aussie's rock
¡Gracias!
Hola compañero! Thanks so much for the contribution we hope you keep enjoying the videos 😎👍
Another huge advantage of air tools over electric is they don't get hot when used continuously. You'll never smell the brushes or armature burning up!
And there's no battery to fall out and shatter into a hundred pieces. There goes 300 bucks
They can get very cold, iv had die grinders get cold enough to be uncomfortable but never had electric tools too hot
They also tend to be more compact than an equivalent electrical tool. Air motors are usually smaller than the same size electric motor.
Jestem po wrażeniem. Życzę dalszych sukcesów i czekam na kolejne filmy.
I'm impressed. I wish you continued success and look forward to more videos
Young Kurtis sitting in his drift car with the blue-steel face, classic...
Happy new year Karl and co. I think one video a week is plenty, keeps the quality up! Enjoy your break
Спасибо за все что вы делаете. Хорошие вы ребята. Удачи вам в Новом Году.
🎄Kurtis, Karen and Homey, thanks for your good work! I wish you good luck and happiness in the New Year!🎄☃👍👍👍
Cheers mate thanks for the support & Happy new year!
My top 3 vloggers of 8 of 2022:
1.(1) Dale farm.
2.(-) Cutting edge engineering.
3 (2) Mike Mitchell.
Happy New Year.
Happy and especially healthy 2023 to all of you from the Netherlands. I hope again for at least 52 beautiful videos in 2023.
there are a ton of other machinist videos out there and the reason I watch your channel is entirely because of the quality of your videos and of course because of homey.
Cheers mate thanks for the support & Happy new year!
By the way, you need to get a car(does not have to be a drift car) but get your dream car and maybe restore it or make it better cuz I’m a car fan 😎
I think Karen is a hell of a video-editor, keep up the good work both of you :)
A happy new year from Denmark
I'm seeing the potential for a CEE/MCM collaboration video!
Karen has the best laugh on TH-cam!
Karen asking holding a shop made rolling bin an waiting for the answer 🤣 Have a well deserved break and Happy New Year and yourself, Karen and Homie keep up the excellent work and videos.
lol nah Karen loved that drift car nearly as much as me. Have a great new year mate
Just me sad he didn’t dump the clutch and kick it sideways at the end??
Ahh but the now older, wiser, dad in me recognized the simple enjoyable tameness.
(But i bet you grin a lil on curves thinking how you would, could, or had, drifted some like them 😉)
hey mate I will try to get the ute sideways every now and then but decided not to show it on a public channel because we don't want authorities getting the footage 😅
Happy & healthy new year to all 3 of ya! Thanks for the entertainment and education this year
Thanks for the support & Happy new year mate 👍
Safety first.
Business is business.
Hard work pays off.
But at the very end… Yes you deserve a new drift car.
Greetings from Italy, love you guys.
I really enjoy your content on TH-cam and hope you won't be lost to the pay channels. A lot of us old guys wouldn't be able to watch if we had to pay. We also look forward to, in my case, early Friday morning to watch you and hear Karen's sweet voice.Good luck and I hope that it all goes well for you
Hey mate thanks for being here with us on TH-cam! We will definitely continue to bring you our quality videos each week, we know Patreon isn't for everyone and absolutely respect that and hope you can keep enjoying the TH-cam channel 😁👍
👍@@CuttingEdgeEngineering Thanks you two too !!🥳=
Кертис и Карен, вы большие молодцы! Поздравляю вас с Наступающим Новым годом! Всего вам самого наилучшего в жизни и в вашем бизнесе.
Between you, Ben's Worx and BigStackD, the Aussie's got it going on!
thanks mate!
Don’t forget Clickspring and Pask Makes! Two of my other favourite Aussie channels.
@@aaronpreston47 Oh ya. They're on my list as well. And I just remembered I Did A Thing is pretty awesome too
I've always been incredibly impressed by the quality of the work y'all do and the ingenuity of your solutions.
