  • Fire crews continue to battle the the Shetland Creek and Williams Lake wildfires in British Columbia's Interior.
    As helicopters dropped water on the fire near Ashcroft and Cache Creek, flames from another fire burned right up to the edge of homes in Williams Lake.
    As of Tuesday, the Shetland Creek wildfire had destroyed more than 20 structures. Highway 1 remained closed between Ashcroft and Spences Bridge.

      Capitalist-induced climate chaos doesn't care about a healthy planet or healthy wildlife. This is where we are at in our lives. Late Stage Capitalism, the elites who put profit over people are destroying the biodiversity of the planet and ecological resilience.
      We need system change. Soon. It won't come from the top-down, unfortunately. It will need to be several sustainability groups in communities working together to build a better system, like One Small Town, Mutual Aid Networks, those who are familiar with "A Viable Society" framework by Peter Joseph or Library Socialism to rebuild the commons and take back our communities for the people, for the planet.
      When it does come down to voting, vote for the anti-war, pro-worker party or candidate and avoid right conservative or neoliberal fascism coming into any more power.

      @@dalelore2725 No, it is not. They did this last year and if you checked the police statistics you would see that roughly 75% of the fires last year were all intentionally set. One crazy eco-Terrorist in Alberta set over 50 (that we know of) by herself last year. The system is doing the usual catch and release for most of them, or giving them minimum sentences. This is why the propaganda media is using every euphemism in the book to cover up the arson, as they do about the fact most of the 300% increase in crime is coming from the "usual suspects". Anything to push the Liberal agenda.

    This is what happens when you log everything in sight, and manage forests into the ground by logging mixed and planting pine. Get ready for 100 years of fires.

    • @nathanadrian7797
      @nathanadrian7797 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Um, Where I live in southern B.C., the trees they usually plant are fir and larch, with some spruce hemlock and cedar mixed in. The fires are in unmanaged, never been logged forests where 200 years of forest debris litters the forest floor, making for very hot forest fires.

    • @SherryinAB
      @SherryinAB หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Tree huggers stopped controlled burning and this is the result , pine trees are all dead from the pine beetles , so their not planting them

    • @truthspeaks623
      @truthspeaks623 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @nathanadrian7797 I'm glad to hear that. For 80 years or so pine was the prefered species to replant, for the reduced cost and fast regeneration. We will be paying the price for years and years to come. Typically, old growth forest is fire resistant. Hence the name old growth. 400 years plus. In Canada we have systematically logged most of the old growth forest out. A forest under 200 years old hasn't got the resistance. The book called The Golden Spruce is full of unbiased truth. Truth that could make an angel weep.
      I live in southern BC as well and have been managing the forest on my property for 15 years and I'm still learning.

    • @truthspeaks623
      @truthspeaks623 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @SherryinAB I wasn't going to reply to your comment. My suggestion would be to educate yourself before you participate in conversations. "Tree huggers" don't interfere with controlled burns. For 80 years or more the government wouldn't allow prescribed burns because of the "timber value loss". In addition to refusing prescribed burns, the government sought to extinguish naturally caused forest fires, again citing " timber value loss " , instead of letting them burn naturally.
      Essentially the government of Canada isn't capable of planning a dog fight in a kennel, let alone managing one. If that's not obvious research the mountain cariboo, or the condition of your own bank account.

    • @SherryinAB
      @SherryinAB หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@truthspeaks623 actually I was wrong and so are you , bc does do controlled burnings, the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS), along with land managers, undertake fuel management activities, including the use of prescribed fire.
