This will be our first official year homeschooling one starting Kindergarten. And yes Florida History was one of my fave courses in HS!

It’s beautiful to see your homeschoooling experience show through in the choices and pairings that you make. It all fits together so nicely! It’s what I strive for but still working on to achieve... not sure if you ever made a how you plan and choose curriculum video but that would be neat to see. Beautiful job 👍🏻💗

My daughter is in fourth grade this year and we're also in Florida. This is normally the year where they do state history so we're going to read a bunch of books about the state of Florida and take a trip to St Augustine. I'm really looking forward to it!

Can you do a flip through of The New City Catechism and talk about how you use it. I can’t find the video where you first talked about it. Thanks!

We have friends that study a country and then do different food from that country. She said it’s a lot of fun. her kiddos range in age and they all enjoy it.

We use the coin and currency club to be our starting point for Geography I love it as it’s an affordable $12 a month club and my kids get real coins and bills from different countries and some facts on it the. We can dive in more to learn that country. So that would kinda be like your wild and free one you talked about. We love your geography resource books too. I wish they would have a more current one of them. But is a great random start for my kids. geography can be so fun

Here in CA 4th graders study CA history all year long. We did it at the same time instead of story of the world. Its a great idea to spend some time studying your state history.

I’m a florida gardener and our biggest growing season is Fall through the spring. Plant most of your seeds in the fall. Also check out the USF if as extension website. Their is so many great articles about gardening on there. 😄 I love your curriculum choices! I’m definitely going to be looking up A Land To Remember. Thankyou for sharing!

The Civil Rights Museum in Birmingham, AL is a must for travel and history!!!!
Plus the city has the McWane science center all your children would enjoy and a beautiful kid-friendly art museum. Plus other historical items like the Vulcan and how it became the steel city!

I highly recommend Jess from Roots and Refuge Farm to learn more about gardening. You can also follow Gary at the Rusted Garden and Luke with MIGardener. They all have amazing videos and help the beginner gardener. I homestead and have a large garden and it’s been so life giving. We plan on working with the city to be a grower for our local food pantry and I’m really excited to share that experience. The channels I mentioned all have great books also. Jess is a wonderful woman with a heart for Jesus and has garden devotionals. You can look at her past videos and work your way up. She just launched a course for the “growing gardener” as well. I highly recommend it because it’s more than just gardening. It’s devotion, stewarding, giving, serving and so much more. She wants us all to find the garden again ❤️🌱 thank you for sharing your picks. I know you went through some difficult things this past year so I pray this coming year is fruitful and full of Gods blessing.

This is wonderful. I had never heard of The Highwaymen but will now be learning about them. Are you family with Thomas Dorsey, the father of gospel music? If not, just thought you might be interested since you will be spending some time studying the Civil Rivhts Movement.

  • @nancyann1090

I believe the Simply Charlotte Mason website has an organization sheet that you can use to sort out all the subjects. I say this for those who may be overwhelmed with the Charlotte Mason approach, because it looks like a lot but it's amazing how you can do just a little bit once or twice a week and get all of it in. Anyway, that organization book/pdf really helped me see it visually and make sense of all those subjects that make up the Charlotte Mason Feast.

Yay. Can’t wait to see what you picked for each kid. My kids are similar age range and I’m trying to figure out science for her upcoming 7th grade year. I’ve don’t family style so far but I think there’s a big jump at that level. Oh, check out the bisquick impossible quiche recipe. It’s super easy and yummy. You can can change up the fillings. My older 3 like to do breakfasts as well and this is a favorite.

I would love to hear more about your Charlotte Mason co-op. Are you spearheading it or how did it come about? I'm a natural leader and started a co-op in my home a couple of years ago, but then with Covid it fell apart. I have looked into options in my area, and while there are classical options, I don't see any Charlotte Mason options, so this is something I've really been leaning toward exploring more and figuring out "how to do" or find one. Thanks! I have been enjoying your videos so much. I feel like we have a lot in common with our kids' ages and heart for the Lord and ministry, etc....just though I'd let you know. :)

Your kids are spaced kinda like mine and this is my 2nd year homeschooling. I would love to see how you really juggle it. I have kindergarten, 3rd (special needs), 6th (ahh middle school). And a sophomore in high school (she decided in March she wanted to join homeschool, so over whelming)

We do personal bible study!!! I learnt the same method!!! I love the idea of encouraging journaling. I do the same!!! We don’t do Shakespeare as my kids find it boring and I can’t see how they need it. We are studying black American history so the civil rights movement!!! I’m glad I’ve taught my daughter to cook and she can cook well!!!

I've been looking for a good protestant catechism curriculum so I'm excited for New City. I see they have a variety of ideas for how to teach the lessons based on times. How do you do it? What parts do you use for it? Maybe you just need a video for this. ;) Thanks for your help.

@rootedinrest I'm not understanding how the cm enrichment grades 1 to 12 can be used each year differently. On the site they have it in lesson plans specific to 1 poet and 3 artists in a year etc. But I dont see how you'd alter it for following years

All of my kids are in PS except my middle son (8 year old). I’m wondering if any other of your viewers could weigh in on whether the “family” subjects could be rotated with just one child.
He focuses on time to completing his schoolwork. One of the reasons he doesn’t understand wanting to attend PS is that he feels it is an inefficient use of time.
I want to expose him to the feast of ideas but he views it all as schoolwork to be done so he can have free time.

Hi Abby! I have a question regarding story of the world, or in fact any curriculum you use that contains subjects that are suitable for your oldest but not so much your youngest...like the Holocaust for instance. How do you approach this? We use SOTW too and only on Middle Ages currently but wondering how I’ll incorporate my littles in future without the subject matter being too advanced for them. Thanks I’m advance x
