    I appreciate your interest in something better than soda or the usual drinks one can buy from the shops.
    This alternative can compete with any of them and give you positive health benefits. (unless you are lactose intolerant - if so, I'm sorry :/ )
    Let me know if you make this often.
    I make a batch a month, and together with kombucha, it satisfies most of my fizzy drink needs.
    Share with me what other homemade drinks you make - I'm curious and want to learn as many recipes as possible as I believe a happy gut Microbiome is an essential element of a healthy, happy life

      At the moment, I constantly make different lemonades on the ginger bug. Ginger beer, kvass, lemon, lime, orange and coriander, quince, rosemary, thyme, rooibos and many combinations)

    My gosh, you are so creative in your “use everything” approach - a model worth emulating! The results are multi-fold, getting the best uses out of both the ricotta making and the lemonade making! I am so impressed. I’ll be trying some of these things in my own kitchen. Thank you! Take care.

    1: amazingly well shot for an instructional video, and you maintained the clarity of the instructions even while making the shots gorgeous
    2: Me and my friends used to lacto-ferment red bell peppers, and they are sizzly and crisp and salty and delicious! I think you'd love them.

      Thanks for the feedback and for the 💡🙂.
      I do lacto fermented hot sauce from chilli's and they are the only hot sauce I can eat - i will definitely try the bell peppers.
      I love bell peppers 🤩

    Can you substitute allulose (naturally occurring sweetener) for the table sugar, or would that retard the fermentation process?

    • @HomevertHomesteader
      @HomevertHomesteader  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am not sure to be honest.
      In my daily life I use stevia to sweeten my coffee and tea, but for fermented drinks I use plain sugar as most of it will be use by the fermentation bacteria and not much will be left when the process is done.
      Still I don't know - try a batch and let us know if it worked.
      cheers.

    Does it taste so sweet ot not and can I lower the sugar without altering the result?

    • @HomevertHomesteader
      @HomevertHomesteader  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      For my pallet its the right amount of sweet, and i personally dont enjoy super sweet drinks.
      But you can adjust that by the amount of time you let it carbonate/ferment.
      The more it ferments the more the sugar is used away.
      Don't leave it to long though or you'll end up with a vinegar like product - waste of time in my opinion if it gets there.
      Thanks for watching ;)

    Great video...one question however? Why the whey? What does it do and what happens if you don't add it? Will it still work?

    • @HomevertHomesteader
      @HomevertHomesteader  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The whey helps in attracting the "good" fermentation bacteria .
      Also contributes to the taste.
      Whiteout it the lemon, water, and sugar will become a very saur, vinegar-like drink - not very appealing and no probiotics.

    Where the F am I supposed to find birch sap my dude?

    • @HomevertHomesteader
      @HomevertHomesteader  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      😅 I do understand its not something that is always available or easy to find in stores
      This is how I get it : th-cam.com/video/MFjagTtPieo/w-d-xo.html
      Each year between February and March (in temperate climates) you can "tap" birch trees and get some of their sap.
      Its the same process used in making maple syrup .
      Nature always provides, we just need to be respectful of her and she will always take care of us.
      Take care and all the best Mike.

      It's a lacto-fermented Lemonade.
      The lacto fermentation comes from the whey I added to it.🙂
      Thanks for watching 👍

    • @TheWatev123456789
      @TheWatev123456789 ปีที่แล้ว

      @To Pretty sure it's the lactobacilli bacteria in the air that become attracted to the lactose in the whey which causes the lacto fermentation.
