Nia had a good story that needed to be told. But we also need to see the awesomeness that is Nia Nal/Dreamer. That mistake has been made with gays in film/shows: it was always tragic, gays dying, rejection at coming out... After all this time we are finally moving away from killing the gays. Don't let the same thing happen to the trans. They need good representation as a whole, not only the fearful story. I'm also glad they are going through with Alex losing herself. She's lost her job and searching for herself. With Jeremiah gone, she will slip even more. This is what we have been waiting for: screentime for Nia, screentime for Kelly, screentime for Alex. A story for Alex, Nia and Kelly. The Dansen part could have been more like a couple though, they look like friends in the scenes together. THE DATE they are building up to for four episodes, was a short scene playing pool. I was afraid we would get the cliché of William teaching Kara how to pool by leaning over her and 🤢 But they didn't! Do straight girls even enjoy playing pool at a date? Just asking 🤷🏼♀️
I find it funny that they're put the stupid Kara and William date in the episode about Nia and the trans community because they know people care about Nia so they'll watch it and then they'll try and use that as a way to say, "oh look! They like Kara and William" and they'll probably ignore dreamer again.... 😔 So frustrating 😤

Brainy isn't exactly good at understanding human, he still has difficulties to cope with our concepts and since he comes from the future and from an extremely intelligent species, i don't think he understands that people can harm each other because of genders or sexual identities. To him there is no difference like this. Not to mention the fact that he still has an emotioneless side that constantly threatens to turn him into someone very similar to his famous ancestor, the "real" Brainiac (and boy, how damaging that would be).
- Kara should’ve been the one to write the article. William doesn’t know Nia personally, so that right there is a slap in the face to the capability of Kara’s work ethic. And for that matter, Kara would’ve written *so much more* then 432 words. - *Sees the Corbin Bleu from HSM is the alien that needed rescuing* 🎵WHAT TIME IS IT?🎵 Time to stop using Obsidian North, that’s what time it is. - Kara and Nia need more screen time together. He rarely got screen time, plot holes followed him everywhere and his story wasn’t written well.

Relationships shouldn't be built on lying, and you shouldn't have to "change" who you fall in love with.

This episode was ok. Nia's story deserved to be the main story as you said. It's an important topic that needs to be adressed more on TV. I'm glad they did, and I like how they told this story. Alex and Obsidian story was interesting and finally living to the potential of VR stories. I think it was clever not to include Lena in this episode, because it allowed more screen time(even not enough) for Nia. I'm also SO glad we didn't have to sit through one of Lex' speech again. About Jeremiah...were did this even come from? I hadn't forgotten about him, but after all this time...why now? I guess this is going somewhere, but as usual this season the timing feels off. This aside, we needed more episodes like this one earlier in the season.

It was frustrating that Nia's story was abridged here. She's easily the character with the most potential in the series at this point. But, to paraphrase the title, reality bites. The fandom of Supergirl includes a significant demo that conspicuously excludes certain storylines/characters from the bulk of their commentary. TPTB at WB and DC and CW know this while still trying to maintain ratings. It spills over into the notes the showrunners are sent. Reality. Bites. That said, while your suggestion that Kara and Nia work this story is fantastic, in the show Nia is still a junior reporter operating under a vulgar clickbait regime. She doesn't get the sort of freedom that Pulitzer winners such as Kara and William get -- and even they are on a tight leash. Plus...forced insipid romance. I'll happily and eagerly chant "More Nia, less William" till the cows come home...and then I'll have the cows moo it, too.
I love Nia and she's so criminally underused, but I'm so, so delighted that we've seen this side of her. It makes her an excellent, excellent character to hang a strong story on (now only if they would actually write for her...) But been a disappointing season in a lot of ways. Everything feels slow, with too much going on to focus on anything at all. That feeling just gives me storytelling anxiety. I hate saying it but SG used to be my total guilty pleasure but tuning in now just feels like a weekly exercise in frustration with a mountain of random story fragments lol Last but not least, while I'm not really a shipper, William is a tissue-paper thin character, and it's shameful that the CW believe he's actually worthy of a such a rich and amazing character like Kara Zor-El. So it's hard to read his placement in her storyline as anything but pushback against what I see most of the audience seems to want: either Mon-El, or Lena (both of which have extraordinary onscreen chemistry with Melissa, and both of which have excellent, strong backstories that show they are worth the time to get to know them) Thanks Adam! Yes Kara and Nia should take down lex if it’s a 2 person team and they could both use a shoulder to lean on since Kara was betrayed by Lena and Nia was abandoned by brainy 🧠
I wish the show would go more into trans issues, but these writers aren't brave enough, even though Supergirl is the most socio-political Arrowverse show, and they'd get loads of praise/good press for it. I'm worried they'll only give us one episode per season to explore the problems Nia faces as a trans woman, and then pat themselves on the back for being so 'bold'.
I kinda don't like that Kara still got to be the hero and had to talk Nia down... they could have just wrote Nia doing it on her own. I forgot all about Jeremiah; was the last time he was seen season 2... but I really remember him dying. I'm lost.

I wish the show would go more into trans issues, but these writers aren't brave enough, even though Supergirl is the most socio-political Arrowverse show, and they'd get loads of praise/good press for it. I'm worried they'll only give us one episode per season to explore the problems Nia faces as a trans woman, and then pat themselves on the back for being so 'bold'.
