- For the past 10 years, I've been fortunate enough to go to the biggest sports card show in the world: The National Sports Collectors Convention. I'm hoping to take the knowledge I have learned over the last decade to help other collectors prepare for the show. This year, the show is in Chicago (specifically Rosemont, Illinois) at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center. In this video, I discuss some of the necessities to bring to the National Card Show in Chicago. Using the knowledge and experience with past shows, I am hoping to give some insight to people on the do's and dont's for the show. Great rule #1. Unfortunately, I had a vendor from Miami last weekend at the Dallas collect-a-con snipe a card from me after the seller and I had come to an agreement. I was really upset but at the end of the day, you can’t let it ruin your experience. Surprised it was coming from a dealer and not an attendee! Dude should definitely know better!

First Time National Show. I’m feeling like I did the first time I went to Disney or even better.. MY First NFL Game .
As I walked into the Stadium / Seating Area… I envisioned a Gladiators Stadium.

Good stuff Ryan, keep putting out the content it’s really enjoyable… And to everyone worrying about it being in Chicago I can tell you it’s in Rosemont, witch is way safer than say downtown. It’s just a burb of Chicago, kinda like Groveport or Reynoldsburg or Hilliard is to Columbus… I’m definitely not saying to completely let your guard down, because crime happens everywhere, just be smart and be aware of your surroundings. Heck maybe even use the buddy system like when you were young, because there is always power in numbers right.. Everyone stay safe have a good time, and bring that 🔥 home! Heck you may even score that unicorn you’ve had your eye on for years. It’s going to be a good show!!

I agree cash is king but do realize it is Chiraq not the safest place to have a bundle of cash. I personally will not have a box of valuable cards to lug around it's just not worth the risk. I just feel much safer when the National is in Atlantic City.

It’s in Rosemont. Not Chicago. Near Chicago, you ever been to Rosemont, it’s safe, promise you.
dont be ignorant. most of the crime here takes place on the southeast side of the city. Rosemont is the suburbs and much safer than atlantic city.
The "Chicago" show is safer than AC.

Will cards on the secondary market be effected a couple days before the nationals or during? Will prices rise, fall, ect.

Ryan, forgive me if you have answered this before but I am curious what app or site you use to determine the current value of a graded or raw card? The old school way was to have a Beckett magazine available but times fave changed . Any information is appreciated, I enjoy your Vlogs and the information you do share. Keep up the great work!
eBay sold listings will tell you a lot. Search the player name and the card number on the back. Often times the easiest way to find it if you're unsure of the set/brand name.

Best tip I can give to anyone, if you see a great deal, but pass and hope to come back in 30 minutes. It will be gone. Happened far too many times to me last nats, if something catches your eye and it’s a great price, jump on it there

Hi Sir, Why are people using ebay over Beckett. By using the ebay you take the value of a card away. Example I have 3 2020 Justin Herbert select #244 Club level book for $200 each. He said it would sell as low as $20 each. Do you think that is fair price.Just asking
Its cause most everyone in the hobby goes off Ebay prices for what has recently sold or what certain cards are selling for. If I can give any advice at all just remember this a card is worth what someone is willing to pay for it, not what a book says it's worth or honestly what Ebay says it's worth especially rare cards or low pop graded cards they will always demand a premium. So look at it this way not very many ppl go off what Beckett says I mean honestly hardly will you ever find a card for the price it says it's worth. I have seen 89 UD Griffey's sell for as low as $5

Agreed . My brother in law is a police officer in Chiraq and now there not even allowed to chase a suspect on foot. Real safe to carry around a suitcase of slabs. I'm going but my slabs stay behind.
