I am really amazed by how powerful the archfiend is, by itself. If not able to win games alone, it for sure is a must-answer element. Plus, it feels like you have to actively try hard to not kill your opponent with just a damage, and keep them alive long enough for the "drawback" to be meaningful
Lvd is awesome. The detail of go for the throat only after the discard. Being smart on every small decision. I dont even play mtg anymore, but this channel makes me feel smarter 😂
Great deck LVD! I also have an Archfiend Handoff deck I wanted to share with you, although mine is Dimir. It includes things like Obliterator, Mirrorhall Mimic and Fleshgorger. It basically has a mono-black core adding Shore Up, Planar Incision, and the rarely used Public Enemy. Public Enemy forces the opponent to attack and allows the Obliterator to more consistently blow up their board. It can also simply clear the field of blockers so you can attack. The Planar Incision allows you to attack with Obliterator, Archfiend or Fleshgorger, and blink them back for great combat tricks, or it can be used as protection against spot removal. Also, if you Fateful Handoff a creature, giving you card advantage, you can blink it back for defense. Mirrorhall Mimic can be used to copy your own Obliterator, Archfiend or Fleshgorger, or even things like an opposing Sheoldred or Atraxa. If you blink your Mimic, it can come back as something better. Also, the Ghastly Mimicry can start creating an army of Archfiends, Obliterators or Fleshgorgers. Shore Up provides a little protection and extra combat tricks. Overall, the deck is a little slow, but once the combo pieces are set up, it can shift the tide of the game fairly quickly. I'm sure there are ways to improve it, but here is what I've basically been running: Deck 2 Shore Up 2 Cut Down 2 Evolved Sleeper 4 Planar Incision 2 Go for the Throat 1 Misery's Shadow 1 Sheoldred's Edict 3 Tenacious Underdog 2 Public Enemy 1 Gix, Yawgmoth Praetor 2 Graveyard Trespasser 1 Liliana of the Veil 1 Mirrorhall Mimic 4 Archfiend of the Dross 4 Fateful Handoff 4 Phyrexian Obliterator 1 Phyrexian Fleshgorger 8 Swamp 1 Takenuma, Abandoned Mire 4 Darkslick Shores 4 Shipwreck Marsh 4 Underground River 2 Xander's Lounge
I feel like the Fugue is a big sleeper pick right now. I put 4 copies in a Rakdos shell and immediately went on a tear. It didn’t whiff once in like 10 games, always found a counter spell, doomblade, lightning strike or a good 1/2 drop to pluck. And it can scale into later turns against the Go Big decks.
Finally! I've been waiting for a deck that gives off Dross Demon away to KO the opponent when it has no counters on it!!!! Awesome job Luca, you're the best man!!
When I hear "demon" and "alternate win condition" I thought this would be the updated Liliana's Contract deck the world has been waiting for. It really feels like with relatively low curve cards like Dream Devourer, Metallic Mimic, and bloodline pretender, and then awesome top end like Archfiend of the Dross among many others it seems like there is a Demon Tribal deck out there that can use Liliana's Contract as a nice little cherry on top alternate win con if there's board stall. But I remember the last Liliana's Contract deck... it did not go well, hahahaha! I guess older formats are just too fast.
That's so interesting. I was playing around with trying to build an archfiend handoff deck a few last week, but gave up on it. I like this build much more :). *This was a blast to watch. Solkanar is such a fun inclusion.
I have played Archfiend of the Dross a lot in Golgari Fight Rigging and only once lost because it had no Counters. And this happened because of Glissa hitting me and removed three Counters from my Archfiend. 😶🌫️
@@LegenVD for sure, also was thinking hopeful initiate, but hard to get all the conditions set for the win, turns into more of a combo deck Edit: Nevermind only +1 counters
I've been playing a version of this list that kills by yoinking a creature with Bloody Betrayal and then equipping blade of selves onto it, turning their creature into an Archfiend with no counters that returns to them at my end step. Super janky but I can't pass up an opportunity to combo kill on turn 5 in standard 😂
I have tried to build pretty much the same deck just as phyrexia released.... ended up seeing that handoff is very win more.... almost every time it's relevant to win, you'd win just fine by just turning archfiend sideways.
Love the deck, I just don't get why people take the play queue too seriously. Play queue is for having fun and do crazy stuff like this. Not for playing your mono blue, rdw, or soldiers deck ...
Mono blue counter decks are the biggest reason I dont play as much as I used to It such a toxic playstyle. I understand there's always a workaround to every archetype but when i play against opponents who spam counter spells I just leave. Its not fun
@@liccasinocomfreespins7337 Not toxic to the game as whole, I agree it has it's place . It's just extremely unenjoyable when I cant even play the game. I picked every card in my deck for a reason, and when I may as well have showed up without any cards- whats the point of playing at all. It's also very boring and uninspired to come across the exact same decklist being played by so many people in the queue.
Fun (and good) deck! Looks like pretty much every game could have been won without the handoff though (even the ones where you did hand the Archfiend off). Archfiend OP potentially?
How do you think a play pattern would look like, to Handoff the Archfiend a turn early, in order to also leverage the draw 4 besides just using it to fire the meme cannon? Would it be too janky and punishing?
Bro, does anyone know a commander build for this concept. I been wanting to make a commander where I give my oops a bunch of creature that affect the controller but I’m new to magic so I don’t have a whole lot of knowledge of previous cards. Anyone know where I can look?
Awesome! Great and entertaining work once again. I was trying to think what the 'harmless offering' was in the set and completely forgot about hand off. Unfortunately your deck building is too good and you won too many games just stomping the opponent instead of jank :D Has anyone actually ever lost to their own archfiend losing its last counter?
I think handoff is actually completely useless in that deck lol, none of the games did you need it, having flying 6/6s that also drain for 2 is enough (+ kanar)
On match 2, I was expecting Legend to say "Alright we're the play with a reasonable hand...off" 😂
"Hey bro, hold this Demon"

The dedication of a man to jank. Truly admirable
LVD you're the best channel for mtg content ever, always lookin forward for the next vid bro
I appreciate that!

This deck is just unbelievably sweet. Grixis, huge dudes with cool effects, giving away creatures for value, and an alternate wincon. Great content!

Fable and arch fiend are a deck unto themselves in this vod.
Thank you for trying this out! Would Glissa be a good addition to remove the counters from demon?
It was either Green for Glissa or Grixis for Sol’Kanar. More Demons seemed more fun and gives us more ways to use Handoff if we don’t draw Archfiend.

Shout out to Stoop Kid on match 6. Always good to see Stoop Kid leaving his Stoop.
Turns out the flying 6/6 that shocks them every time their creatures die is either going to win in less than 4 turns or get removed.
Good guy Luca. Giving 🎁 to opponent for being a good sport
Nice and fun deck, Man!!! Have you tought about a “Road to #1 Mythic” series?? It’d be so nice to watch you grinding!! Have a great week!🤜🏻
