- I'm a huge fan of giant flying creatures and Journey's Guardians and Cloth Whales nail it for me...
Since I was deving my Leviathan Swarm I wanted to build a few in Minecraft to fly around with them...
Using Valkyrien Skies 2 and Computercraft I managed to programed myself omnidirectional semi-autonomous drones... in Minecraft.

In my latest Omni-Drone lineup, I've programmed a swarm of them to fly in formation while tracing a path across the sky.
I used the Mirage Mod to "dress-up" my drones with skins I built in-game:

I made a custom texture pack for the Cloth Whale symbols. I made a Godot4 project to autogenerate the 100 symbols for me:

This is insane. I’ve always wondered what Journey would look like one Minecraft, but I never thought I’d actually see any of its entities modded into the game.
You know, with Create Aero (hopefully) coming out sometime this year, I'd love to see a mod that just adds giant passive mobs like this. Right now, travelling by airship in modded MC can feel kind of bland, especially compared to walking or boating where you're almost guaranteed to at least see something pretty or interesting along the way (I guess one way to fix this would be using like some type of epic dragon fantasy creature mod... but the antidote might be worse than the cure there). Having weird huge flying things come up alongside you or flying above the clouds just barely in sight would be awesome, even if they don't do anything else.
Truth, reminds me of an anime called drifting dragons, seeing some huge beast would be so cool although I imagine making said entities would be very difficult, although this video gives me hope! I’ve also already made the Quin Zaza (the airship from said anime) with VS so this would be extra awesome.
Ice and fire's out in 1.20.1 right now, but the dragons are more destructive than anything honestly
but then again imagine a dragon coming after your airship and you fend it off with a row of cannons from the big cannons mod
This is a valkyrien skies based mod - VS is already out, but last I used it it was a bit buggy.
There's one addon in development that is precisely about that - Create: The Rampant Skies
there is an addon for aero in the making called Rampant Skies. you get flying leviathans and you can hunt them for their blubber which is like super fuel

Thank you everybody but I have to set the record straight before it goes out of hand. It's not a mod. I built them in-game using different mods:

Wish I could experience it for the first time again... But unfortunately I'm one of those people that can't forget memorable games... So I still remember way too much of the game even without having played it for so freaking long.
The inside of their mouth gives me dimensional doors flashbacks
God, this would incredibly complement Minecraft's aerial ecosystem. I really want to see this live in Minecraft, in regular survival, realizing that you can move around in this way is breathtaking.
I can't even begin to imagine this in VR... This is amazing!

Minecraft and the modding community will always astonish me. Especially you who took all these mods and made them work in together for something. Oddly beautiful as it is terrifying.

Incredible work! Journey is my favorite game of all time, seeing this in my recommended was a real treat!
Imagine setting that up in survival, having your base circled by a guardian or cloth whale. Now, if you want to keep the That Game Company love rolling, try and do the Krill from Sky.

Took me way too long to realize this was a journey mod. I was like wow this reminds me a lot of journey and then you clicked the block and the fabric stuff happened

@@christineannvalderrama9613along with a few more mods I do use Valkyrien Skies 2 (VS2). Clockwork is a VS2 addon tho I use VS2:Tournament to make them fly

The skins are actually holograms called "Mirages" from the Mirage mod. They dont have collision, they just look the part

At best you can download one of the demos, load up the world and start flying around with them. Just have to follow the instructions in the github.

You should make a mod that spawns these in the world naturally. It would make airship travel outright terrifying.
I think there's too many moving parts to make it a Valkyrien Skies 2 addon... tho it should be easy for somebody else to make a mod about it. It wouldn't even need physics...

@@user-pz2cj7yi5c consider it as a tech demo for my Omni-Drone system. Sky Leviathans are a new addition to my Omni-Drone Lua library. This is just one of the things you could do with the library. Tho, Somebody should realy make a Journey mod tbh. Before this all I could find are player skin textures and a few statue builds.

There was a time when I thought about remaking the XM 05 Thanatos... but I think someone else can do it better. Should be easier to do now with the Mirage mod

okay this is actually insane, like i've played through journey and i loved the story and all of that, but i agree that the massive flying creatures like the whales and war machines were just.. so well made. say, if you'd like a texture artist for your models, i would love to help! it looks pretty fun to me and i would say i'm pretty decent lol, if you're interested check my about page on my channel, i have my contact info linked there.
