Yeah, I’d probably get one. I like the length of it because I’m a taller guy, & it would be great in the car because it’s collapsible. I don’t mind paying the price, if it works well for me.
If your going to store it in a vehicle with limited space (like the trunk of a car or in an RV) the collapsible nature of the Gerber shovel could be handy. Although I have found folding shovels cheaper than $150.
imma say this abt all fiberglass/nylon/plastic gear. if AND ONLY IF, i can smack it and use it wrong in cold conditions and it survive. its a great purchase
I don't know, I think I spent $75 on a titanium shovel and then another $20 for a new hickory handle for it. It only works one way but it feels like it's made of aluminum and stronger than steel. Ordered it off Etsy.
First impression is I’m gonna pass. For that size I think you’re right…just use a normal shovel. I also question the durability. I would however like to see a review of that thing.
At $150 buck I can buy a shovel use it throw it away and buy a new one the next time I need it. Also, Gerber’s quality control is terrible, another thing is they don’t stand behind their products.
If you need a shovel then just bring a shovel 🤦🏻♂️ A shovel already doubles as a walking stick. If for some off chance you happen to find yourself trekking across the continent and you need to bring tools to use when you reach your destination. Do what the pioneers did and bring the tool head and make the handles when you arrive 👍
Gerber is a joke anymore, just like benchmade. Companies like this deserve to go through a financial hsrdship like Stellantis to understand they are pricing out their customers for chinese made junk.
Gerber/Fiskers seems to use substandard steel in almost everything they make....
Depending on where they make it. Some other new blades made in the US are S30V or S35VN.
Yup. I try not to buy anything like this that was made in China
The price is a major question mark. Durability is a major question mark.

Cold steel shovel all day

For me, it's about the quality and the durability. I'll be willing to pay $150 if it could outperform the competition and last for a long time.
If it doesn't break first time you use it I'd pay 70 max and that's pushing it
That would be a hard NO!
I'd probably get one that collapses down, but for $150 the quality and durability better be there. Otherwise no thanks
150!!!!! I bet it's as loose as a goose and makes it a couple days
Get the glock shovel. 50 bucks and very useful.

Yeah based on my calculations you might be able to get 4 or 5 😳
I would not pay that
Very.
No.
Honestly the shovel is nice in itself but cannot afford that
Yeah, that price point hurts
I rather have the one that collapses
Eh, a buck and a half is a bit steep. I'd snag it if it was 75 or 100.
No. it’s never gonna be worth $150. just gear to sell to over-packed dudes who think it’s necessary.
Nope. The standard Cold Steel shovel will do the job.

$50 maybe 150 no thank you baby.
Definitely not worth $150.00! I would buy if it was $80.00 maybe.
Awful big to put in a backpack

All collapsing shovels are garbage. Too many moving parts in a tool that shouldn't have any
I’ll let you know as I use this more. The locking mechanism is really snug on this one.
This dont look like it would be good for hiking looks a bit big
