The way this instructor teaches is perfect for someone who does not know anything about vehicle parts (that's me), as well as someone who speaks English as a second language (also me). Although I have been in this country longer that I lived in my native country, I still did not know 98% of parts on a vehicle (in English) until I decided to become a tractor driver. Ironically, I have always wanted to learn how to drive a vehicle this size and I'm proud to say I have always admired tractor drivers....I will watch all 17 videos until I have learned everything, or at least 98% of parts I did not know before😉

Funny how perfect you have to be with pretrip. But all the teachers and old drivers never had to do this. They had chauffeur license got grand fathered in. Some schools want perfection but don't have proper equipment when you arrive for cdl Dr test.

Signal lights
Clearance lights
Reflective tape
Marker Lights
Brake lights
Reflectors
Backing Light
Tail Lights
All lights on top are clearance lights, on the bottom are marker lights, some marker lights also function as signal lights.
The tail lights functions are:
Brake lights, turn Signals, 4way flashers.

Great videos. Does your truck not have the light check button
For break lights, you can put your Key, in your T-handle, in cab, to hold it down to test break lights when you are by yourself...and its what was expected of us when we tested at my employer.

The issue is the instructor does not let you get out and check them during the illumination test. I was failed for that.
4:17 kinda missed mentioning the lower marker doubling as a turn signal….

By any chance do you have classes in Nevada
We do not, but we do pay for qualified students way to one of our terminals in Springfield, MO or Missoula, MT. We also pay for meals and lodging while you're here!
Reverse lamps how do you check those by yourself
If you do not have anyone in the truck with you, we recommend asking a friend, fellow driver, or someone from the terminal to double check!
How about using your Johnny Bar/Trolley Valve to check trailer brake lights if you're alone?
Hello, I have a question. When you talked about the reflectors on rear of the tractor, but on top on each side, isn't that the reflector tape? And the reflectors are the ones next to rear lights of the tractor that is round, next to the 4 way flasher, brake lights? I hope you understand what am trying to say.
The top corner reflectors on the back of the cab and on the trailer doors can be either white reflective tape in an L shape, or an attached white L-shaped reflector. On this truck and trailer, they used the tape, but on many of Wilson's Freightliner tractors, they use a plastic L-reflector glued to the back of the cab. Either is fine as long as it is white and in the L/corner shape on the back of the cab and trailer.

We do not require that you pay for the program. The program typically takes 3-4 months to complete.

Oh crap that Peterbilt has that stupid radar crap. Which means it auto brakes for you if someone cuts you off or you are too close to someone in front of you. Not fun when you are in snow or rain. Enjoy losing control of that rig :/
