Yeah sometimes I’ll sample in a whole drum break to save polyphony just like you said, plus breaks sound good. For this one the kicks and snares are one shots and the hihat are a loop too give it that live break feel. ✌️
There is a backup method using audio that sounds like white noise. You can make a recording of the sound and then later import it to recover all sounds and sequences.

What other samplers have you used? What are you comparing it to? This is a toy.
I have mostly used the MPC 1000 and SP303. The PO33 is definitely not a toy if you don’t treat it that way.
