If you're into live music sound engineering, take a look at any of the songs AURORA sang live at her concert at "Nidarosdomen" Cathedral in Norway here on TH-cam. She sang in front of her band, small orchestra, cathedral organ, harp and choir. The 1500 tickets for this event sold out within 10 minutes. It isn't Aurora being her wild self on stage, as she stated she wanted to treat the cathedral with respect, likewise the audience don't shout and cheer but respectfully applauds after each song. The sound engineer, engineers did a great job mixing this live performance, hats off to the lighting and production crew as well. Oh btw...Aurora is deeply involved in the production of all aspects of her music and has a large say into her live performances.

Hello, my friend, and thank you for your remark. As a musician, nothing beats outstanding sound engineering; it's always a source of contention and may cause issues when I perform. I had a terrific sound engineer while I was working on a cruise ship back in the day; he was from Sweden, and I liked every bit of being on stage because of his expertise.
I will try to check out more from this singer, absolutely loved this performance!

I'm 78 and saw her this summer. Couldn't agree with you more. In fact, with one possible exception she's probably my favorite singer in my lifetime. Also, it's not only her music, it's who she is as a person. She loves people, nature and just a sweet soul. Reminds me of the "Flower Children" from my day.

GReat reaction there MJ. I love watching first timers discovering the wonderful artist Aurora. She is something else, in most ways, how she write lyrics and compose, arrange and record, she can dance too and it can be seen in her videos at times and in live performances. She usually has a strong hand on the wheel with how her music videos are planned and shot. Her catalog is large and you cannot really go wrong, all her videoes and concert clips here on YT are awesome. Welcome to her Warriors and Weirdoes, her name for her fans.

Hi, a genuine great reaction. AURORA is wonderful, isn't she. One of the most astonishing things about her is that she's an autodidact when it comes to writing songs from a very early age.
This time line shows how talented she is:
Age 6: Started to follow dance lessons
Age 6: Started to compose melodies
Age 9: Started writing lyrics in her second language English
Age 14: Her family discovered that she wrote her own songs
Age 16: Recorded one song ("Puppet") as a gift to her parents
Age 16: Performed a self written song ("I Had A Dream") at a school assembly
Age 16: Gave up dancing (and her dream of becoming a professional dancer) to focus on singing
Age 17: Released her first song "Awakening"
Age 18: Released her first EP "Running With The Wolves"
Age 19: Released her first full album "All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend"
Age 19/20/21: Performed hundreds of live shows during her world tour
Age 22: Released her second EP "Infections Of A Different Kind (step 1)"
Age 22 (just before her 23rd birthday): Released her second full album "A Different Kind Of Human (step 2)"
Age 24: This song "Runaway" (released in 2015) has gone viral on TikTok, hence turning Runaway into a world wide hit with over 1 million streams daily on Spotify and TH-cam
Age 25: Released her third full album "The Gods We Can Touch"
Age 26 (today): Features as main vocalist on the musical score of the new BBC documentary series "Frozen Planet II", and is currently working on a new album

@@ScottauchterlonieMusic That's great to hear, `cause AURORA is a unique artist, of who it is well worth digging in the stories behind her. She is not only a great singer and talented artist. She has a unique personality as well, with a vivid imagination and clear views on the world around her and on the world as a whole.

Hi Scott, thank you for this great reaction. You have just seen one of the most extraordinary singers I know.
Please excuse me. This is going to be a long comment. AURORA wrote the song when she was 11 years old. It was recorded in 2014 when she was about 18 years old. She became famous with this song. You have just seen one of the most extraordinary singers I know.
AURORA is extraordinary. Who gives their first album such a long and strange name: "All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend" (2016).
AURORA (Aurora Aksnes) was born on June 15, 1996 in Stavanger, Norway. She is a singer, songwriter and producer with a style all her own.
AURORA's songs always have a strong message. Often the messages are not very clear either. They can be interpreted so that many people can relate them to themselves. Her movements when singing are extraordinary. This isn't a dance. This is her special way of expression. You can also say that she sings with her whole body. Her excellent music, her brilliant voice and her movements. AURORA's live performances are a total work of art. She is often so into the song that she shakes her body or head uncontrollably (--> Murder song, It happened quiet) and need 2-3 seconds to come back.
She is capable of transporting feelings because she allows a look into her soul. Her fans call themselves warriors and weirdos.
    -------------
AURORA once said: People tend to believe quite quickly that something is wrong with them if they're not like the people they see in front of them
It's so sad that it doesn't take much for us to really doubt ourselves
    -------------
    - Through The Eyes Of a Child (Live at Nidarosdomen) - th-cam.com/video/ncG9zTzsisE/w-d-xo.html - she sang in norway's biggest cathedral - phenomenal acoustics
    - Murder song (5,4,3,2,1) - The 2015 Nobel Peace Prize Concert - th-cam.com/video/vh0SWTVwXxw/w-d-xo.html - the saddest love song I've ever heard
    - It Happened Quiet (Live at The Current) - th-cam.com/video/9U-N6LqzdIM/w-d-xo.html - it's about the rape of a woman - some say - these great harmonies
    - Lucky (Live at Nidarosdomen) - th-cam.com/video/AmTiqR2_VAw/w-d-xo.html - the song is her way of suicide prevention
    - The Seed (Official Video - VEVO) - th-cam.com/video/_Mc_OM5oNA8/w-d-xo.html - it's about the climat change, AURORAS “Earth Song”
I usually prefer her live performances. But in these cases the VEVO video is more impressive. I hope you enjoy AURORA.
    ----------------------------------
Three important bits of information I found from another commenter:
    1. -- In a recent interview she said "well, the last song I wrote is meant for my 7th album.” -
AURORA's latest album, the fourth, was released on January 21, 2022. She's already in the planning for the 7th.
    2. -- AURORA was a teen when she answered the question "are some of your songs related (on different albums)?" - it will all make sense when I have finished. -
AURORA has a plan and we don't know the destination yet. But it is important to know that everything belongs together.
    3. AURORA is holding back one song from every decade of her life to release those songs as the last album after her death.
    Which artist does that?
    ----------------------------------
Channel Rob For collects quotes from AURORA. Through these little quotes from AURORA, we can see a little more of who she is.
    1. - th-cam.com/video/x22GYwnZ9D4/w-d-xo.html - 15.01.2015
    Interviewer:
You always dream about becoming a singer-songwriter, a pop star or did it just come up to you like a dream?
    AURORA:
Well yeah, well I never wanted to be a pop star. I never wanted to stand on stage. That was not my dream. I never dreamed of it and I didn't really think about it that much I just needed to write songs to you know for my own sake. But then my mother told me that I should share these songs and so I did. And now I'm here. So no, I didn't plan to be in front of a band or something like that.
    2. - th-cam.com/video/uB8m1_EzLx8/w-d-xo.html - 13.01.2016
You know, I cry often when I play, because I have many dark songs. [Interviewer: “Why?”] I think it’s just …. well, first I’m an emotional person and many of my songs are very emotional and they can come from quite dark stories - not my own - just from the world, because there are a lot of beautiful and horrible things happening in the world every day. And it inspires me a lot to write. And if I see a person in the audience crying - you know - then I will cry as well. Yeah, it’s get emotional.
    3. th-cam.com/video/4Z0GGbVxqes/w-d-xo.html - 20.07.2021
I think it is so strange that we are all biologically designed to be these perfect individual unique beings, but still the world we live in are continuously shaming us for being unique and different …. and it doesn’t make any sense to me. That’s why I think I've never feared being who I am and loving who I am and you should do the same, because it doesn’t matter what the world thinks. - The world is out of its mind!
I hope you like AURORA too. Have a nice day and

    Lovely reaction!
Aurora is the total package - singer, songwriter, musician, dancer, producer/arranger, choreographer, and an absolutely lovely human being (and she’s just 26 years old!). She will often perform her songs quite differently - sometimes with her band, other times stripped down to just her and one instrument, a cappella, with full orchestra, etc. - so it is definitely worth listening to different versions of the same song. Also, her videos are mini-masterpieces as well.
A short list of original songs:
Runaway - Nobel Peace Prize concert and her music video
Through the Eyes of a Child - Nidarosdomen concert, my recommendation Live Stripped - VIVO UK Lift
It Happened Quiet - Nidarosdomen concert, but I'd recommend the live at The Current version as well
    Churchyard - Live on KEXP
Winter Bird - Nidarosdomen concert and her music video
Murder Song 5,4,3,2,1 - Nobel Peace Prize Concert
    Lucky - Nidarosdomen concert
Little Boy in the Grass - Nidarosdomen concert
The Seed - Music Video, HAIK Concert
The River - Music video, Live in Bergen 2020
Exist For Love - Music video,
    Daydreamer - Music video
She also does some awesome covers:
Life on Mars - David Bowie
    Believer - Imagine Dragons
God is a Woman - Ariana Grande
Across the Universe - John Lennon
    Teardrop - Massive Attack
    Rasputin - Boney M
And of course there is her latest album “The Gods we can Touch” which is pure gold!

Aurora was actually sick during this performance and has a very coarse voice compared to normal. I believe she'd been on tour for more than a year here and was constantly plagued with illness. Still she manages to sound amazing :) Her best performance of this song in my opinion is at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert.

    Nice reaction👍
She wrote this song when she was 11 years old, and at that age she didn’t quite understand the meaning of the song, but as she grew older she knew that home meant home to her parents. So maybe that is why she’s so emotional here.
But she’s deep into her songs💕
This is one of her most important songs, and one of few songs that are about herself ❤️
Her voice sounds a bit hoarse here😊
Aurora is a singer/songwriter/dancer and music producer from Norway.
She’s self taught when it comes to singing and playing piano, and she’s an amazing storyteller 😍
When she was 6 she found an old electric piano in the attic and started playing and writing music. At the age of 9 she added lyrics (English)
Her family didn’t know about her talent until she was about 14 years old, and she didn’t even want to be an artist, but lucky for us she is😍😍
When Billie Eilish was about 12 she watched the “Runaway” music video, and she decided that this is what she wanted to do wether it goes anywhere or not.
She recently sent Aurora a video message gratulating her for winning a music award and thanking her for the inspiration 💕
Could you please react to Aurora with:
“Through the eyes of a child” live from Nidarosdomen (cathedral in Norway) 2017
This is also an important song for her.
    Fun fact:
The whole song is played in the Netflix series “The 100”
    ✌️💕

If you have seen the Disney movie "Frozen 2" Aurora is the one doing "The Voice" calling to Elsa. Aurora is a 26 year old Norwegian singer and songwriter, she was 19 in this performance in April 2016, and she has released 3 albums and 2 EPs, latest album in Jan 2022.
I don't think her voice is 100% of what it really can be in this performance, this is from 2016 where she did 210 performances in 1 year. But she can be lost in the music like no one else.
I recommend watching Runaway privately from the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize Concert.

If you consider all the elements of great music, Aurora brings them all, Melody, Story, good Chorus, simplicity, and most of all emotion. A very perceptive reaction. The official video of "Runaway" from 2015 has 502 million views. All of Aurora's videos, on her channel alone, have 1.2 billion views. Yet her channel does not include her immensely popular 2015 Nobel Peace Prize concert, the perfect 2017 Nidarosdomen concert, the magical 2019 HAIK concert or many of her other live performances and those posted by fans from concerts they attended. So, the total from all of her performances, would be an astronomical figure. You must now progress to the concerts I mentioned to be even more impressed by this amazing and unique artist.

SO happy to see you get into Aurora. She is....literally my favorite human being, if you don't count family.
Runaway is ok....but SO insanely overplayed/hyped. But....I hope you try out more of her stuff. THE 3 things to watch to get an excellent impression of her are: Lucky @ Nidarosdomen, It Happened Quiet @ The Current, and Under the Water @ The Honda Stage. I'm pretty certain the large majority of Aurora fans would agree with that list. From there, the rabbit hole just goes deeper and deeper. I'd like to see a revised opinion of her vocal skill after you see a few more of her live songs. In my opinion she's one of the best vocalists on the planet. This performance doesn't really show off her control or range, and she's struggling to project over the band here. I'd recommend the KEXP Iceland mini concert. Her live studio performances are truly special. She's not Ariana Grande. She's not even a pop artist. I think the only singer that can rival Aurora in terms of originality is Bjork. There must be something in those Scandinavian waters that makes people into superhuman singers.

I just love her. And of course you can find other great singers (with trained technique, strong voices etc) but I love her voice tone and also something unique: emotions, expressiveness.. just a music for your soul and hart. She sign not to show up her abilities but to pass emotions and/or message of the song.
Maybe it just hit me, but she is my favorite artist after I discovered her music by a chance and i love her whole discography and even many not released song (played only live or leaked somehow :) ). I just believe her, she is such a natural artist (and she just wrote music starting from 6 and lyrics starting from 9 without any formal education).
Ps. in my opinion she is even unique (not typical) personality and so free - I never saw anyone like her before.

Welcome to Aurora, the other greatest Norwegian vocalist on the planet, Angelina is the other. They shall conquer the world of mundane music that the industry is offering us. Cheers, stay well. If you enjoyed this one then check out any and I mean any of her songs from the ancient Norwegian Cathedral concert at Nidarosdomen....it is EPIC!!!!. Also the 2015 Peace Prize concert is unbelievable as well....also the Haik Concert in the Norwegian forest....could go on....be an Aurora Warrior.

But there are also a few other artists who are fascinatingly good.
I would strongly recommend Dimash, Diana Ankudinova, Morissette Amon, Tori Amos, Haley Reinhart, Zaz and Marcelito Pomoy; for the moment :- >

Hello again my friend. GREAT reaction! I really have to say that you and I are off to a really good start on this channel of yours. I dunno how many artists you've reacted to so far, but I do know that you have reacted to both my favorite female artists in this world, being Angelina and Aurora (in that order). Both Norwegian and both completely unique as artists as well. They are also incredibly grounded and genuine human beings as well. Aurora writes, composes and arranges all of her songs, and like you said, the sound mix in her performances is ALWAYS on point. She definitely has some very great sound engineers with her 🙂 I was lucky enough to see both Angelina and Aurora in concert here in Norway last year (Angelina in July and Aurora in November) and both concerts stand out among my best musical experiences ever, though I have to say that Angelina's concert is untouchable, at least to me. I can't go without suggesting two of my favorite performances by Aurora, ca I ? I really think you should check out (both from the same beautiful concert at Nidarosdomen) her performances of "Through The Eyes Of A Child" and "Lucky". She wrote most of "Lucky" at age 9, only to finish it a few years later. Here goes :
"Through The Eyes Of A Child" : th-cam.com/video/ncG9zTzsisE/w-d-xo.html
    "Lucky" : th-cam.com/video/AmTiqR2_VAw/w-d-xo.html

@Heidi Farstad Kvalheim Actually, Angelina does not only do covers. She has 5 originals and has books full of songs that she has written since she was young. Her debut album with REPUBLIC RECORDS is apparently being released this year, so she will be 17 when it comes out. Aurora was 19, and Susanne was 21 when they released their debut albums.

I agree that this is not her best version of Runaway, but I don't think she was sick at that moment because other songs of this same "Live on the Honda stage" concert, such as I Went Too Far and Black Water Lillies are nearly pitch perfect. The "Live on the Honda stage" videos were filmed in the Bowery Ballroom New York during her first 2016 US tour, in April. It was mostly during her second US tour of 2016, in November, when she was sick most of the time as featured in the Once AURORA documentary.
