    Hello i just see your video do you think this wire are the best for create coil or you have updated your process lately?i think create a coil for pi metal detector

      This litz wire is perfect for standard pulse induction detectors, also if you want to use on high power detectors I have twisted 3 length’s together and run more current.

    Hello professor, does the coil wire matter when you reach the desired ohm and uh values?

      You can experiment with it.

    Hi there
    how can I define the specs by which I can order it, for example I need a 27A 68kHz @ 45 C litz wire, but this is not the way litz wire specified, so how can I specify it

    • @DetectorMods
      @DetectorMods  ปีที่แล้ว

      We only have 1 type of the litze wire, 1mm 72 x 0.2mm stands, 2 layers of polyester insulation.

    Thanks Woody
    I bought a wire from you for a length of more than seventy meters and I made coils and it was good.
    Please Woody, is the lower the resistance of the coil, the better the performance?
    If we use, for example, a litz wire with a resistance of 0.3 ohm for a 30-inch coil, will it affect the GPX device?

    • @DetectorMods
      @DetectorMods  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With resistance around 0.5 ohm it will not make much difference down to 0.3 or up to 0.8 ohms as the detector has a resistor in series with the coil connector, if that resistor is shorted and the detector can handle the low ohms it may give a depth improvement, but then I would add a turn or two and get more field generation and extra receive ability. The coil should not go into a steady current state in transmit as the current should keep on rising until transmit pulse turn off.

      Contact details are on detectormods.com and we sell litz wire by the meter or foot, or even by the mile.

    Dear Woody, thank you so much for this video and your coil tips video that I came across. I was researching metal detectors, coils etc for a few days and went through a lot of pages and videos, test non anywhere near as good and informative as yours!
    I would like to ask you 2 things, I would like to buy some of your Litz wire say 20 meter, or 50 meters shipped to the UK, would you get in touch and give me a price please?
    The other thing was regarding covering your coil with carbon (from your coil video) you didn say for what reason that is done.
    Thank you so much again.

    • @DetectorMods
      @DetectorMods  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Use the detectormods.com page for contact, the carbon ( graphite ) stops the ground changing the capacitance of the winding and thus making noise. It acts like an electrostatic shield and stops the capacitance changes making the detector sound off.

    ^^ Welcome Woody I hope you are doing well I want an answer from you with my sincere thanks I couldn't find a litz wire that I decided to make I got 0.150mm wire I want to make a 42 inch or 50 inch coil How many strands do you use? thank you very much I want to tell you that I got a gold coin with the 32 coins that I made with your help ^^ Thanks

    • @DetectorMods
      @DetectorMods  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can use tin plated multi strand type wire, the finer the strands the better, if your wire is 1mm diameter for the total strands of ever up to 1.5mm it will work, use the insulated type and aim for 1/3 diameter insulation thickness to reduced inter winding capacitance but still keep strong magnetic domain alignment.

    What aboit rx coil wire size type resistance and indictance ?

    • @DetectorMods
      @DetectorMods  ปีที่แล้ว

      As a dedicated coil for receiving the coil should be low capacitance, low resistance and the more turns the better but there comes a point where adding more turns is detrimental.

    Mr. Woody... I'm from Mexico I dive with the Nokta Makro Pulse Dive. In my free time I spend making a better coil... and I've made a 20-inch one that gives me a very good depth... I've found out about the cable Litz and I want to make one...how many turns do I have to give for a coil of 20 cms in diameter and the detector is pulse induction. Thank you for your attention.20

    • @DetectorMods
      @DetectorMods  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For 300 uh try 26 turns but maybe start out with 27 turns then measure the inductance and if too high you can take off one turn.
