Follow that Bird is a great example of how you take characters that may seem to be aimed towards children and make it a great movie.
Follow That Bird, Lion King, and pretty much every Pixar film are not just great kids movies but great movies period. Like you can do a kids movie while also make it enjoyable for older people. This movie and others like it are just everything that's wrong with entertainment

Something occurred to me: with the apparent production values in this film vs the reported financial outlay, combined with the complete lack of marketing, this movie is someone's drug money. No reasonable person, even a Hollywood producer, would greenlight this, and these actors and actresses can't be that expensive.

I have a feeling a majority of the theaters showing this movie had the same story to tell. Considering that it averaged less than $300 per theater over the 4-day Labor Day frame ($206 over the 3-day weekend).

Now you're telling me it costed 60 mio. Again, still the same as Tank Girl. But you know what? Even though TG only made 1/5th of its money back, was hated by Hewlett&Martin and many fans and critics, it featured Lory Petty, Malcolm McDowell, Naomi Watts, Ice-T and Samuel L. friggin Jackson, as well as a good soundtrack an some great props. Oh, and it started off as an Underground-R-rated comic book. Just saying.
The real tragedy is that this gets a 7.2 on imdb while paranorman, a MUCH superior film and proof that something made" for kids" can still be amazing , gets just a 7. Hunchback of notre dame gets a 6.9. I'll let that sit with you
