Icloud frustrates me. Can’t they simply put one additional option in both places (Photos & icloud) saying ‘want to delete from icloud too?’ and in icloud put an option saying ‘want to delete from Photos too?’. This will save the sanity of millions of iphone users.
Apple is ridiculous. What’s the point of calling it “cloud” if the content you delete from your phone is automatically erased from the cloud storage?? so eventually I’m going to need to upgrade to a 2 TB storage phone to hold all my media since it can’t be stored on icloud alone.
You kinda missed a big point for 98% of us who want to delete massive images and videos from our iPhone. While we don't want to delete these from iCloud, we do want iCloud on to backup our future images and videos, and you didn't explain how to have iCloud AND delete them from our iPhone.
But what happens when you connect back to the icloud? The system will see that you deleted the photo and will delete it from icloud as well? Or will it bring it back to the phone Photo app?
Every time you want to remove media from your phone but keep on icloud, you’ll need to disable icloud photos, delete photos from you phone, and re-enable icloud photos. Problem is, every time you do that, it’ll download your whole library bacl to your phone. 🤦♂️ wtf Apple.
That's what I'm getting ready to do. My guess is once you do the extra delete where you put them in the bin recently deleted, I believe it takes a more than a day for this action to complete. Check again in a week. They don't come off right away after you click delete or delete all.
I'm having a little problem understanding the difference between 'Remove from iPhone' vs Download Photos & Videos. I have 8k photos on my iPhone 13 and when I delete any of them I see them being deleted from my photos library. This was great that you showed me how to fix this problem. The second one in blue writing ....do you mean that if I chose that option that I have to go to my photos on my mac and delete each one off my phone once I see it on photos? Help Me Please Trevor ;-)

I may want to have 100 pictures stored on iCloud but only 10 on my phone and want to add new ones every so often....if we reconnect, will iCloud sync up deleting all those photos? how about when phone backs up? it won't back up photos.....shouldnt be so confusing......should be able to drag and drop from photos to iCloud Drive or something

I read that if you turn on cloud syncing again, it will mirror what is on your phone. So if you deleted a picture on your phone. Then you turn on cloud syncing. icloud will update to mirror your phone, therefore the picture you deleted on your phone, will then be updated and deleted on the cloud. is this true?

I hope I could get a quick response because I’m currently worried if I might lose some old family videos but long story short I was at a festival and ran out of space so I started deleting old stuff without checking what I was deleting and had to completely delete all those images to make space, I got home and turned my MacBook Pro on and it still has the images but it says sync in progress… does that mean it’s gonna delete them off my MacBook since I delete it off my phone once the sync is complete?

Do you do the same thing for a ipad ? I have a ipad that only has 30 g and its at 28 g so its all most filled up . It has 15 g of photos . If I don't have room for all the photos to come back to the ipad after you click on down load what do you do ? By clicking download is it going to take up what little memory I have left ?
After you turn off Sync this iphone why do you need to download the photos to your phone then delete them from your phone. The 2nd option after you turn off Sync this phone was delete all photos from the phone - why not use this option?

If I have a space issue. I’m not going to be able to download all the content. I’m so frustrated with Apple and iCloud. I should be able to go in on the iPad. Go to Photos delete content specifying to keep on cloud. It be that simple but it’s not.

Let's say eg your iphone has 100,000 photos and your ipad has 1,000 - when you turn icloud on for both does icloud delete 800 photos from iphone or add 800 photos to ipad? Or is it whichever is on icloud first? If I turn on my mac (where I have a ton of photos) will my iphone explode?

Yea thats what im thinking. Theres no purpose to doing this if itll just resync once you re enable icloud. There has to be a way to keep your photo storage clear and continue to store in icloud

U have to delete them twice, after you delete them then go to recently deleted and delete there also before enabling iCloud again

Yes, I think that’s what also needs to be addressed, because, from what I understand, it will then delete the iCloud photos.

I am clicking remove from IPhone . But this is not working for me. The iPhone storage still not updating. What I will do?
