E46 convertible top tonneau not closing

2004 BMW 325Ci convertible. The tonneau cover was not closing fully on the right side. Narrowed the problem down to the motor under the back seat that locks & unlocks the tonneau cover latches via a pair of bowden cables. The DIY fix is documented in a forum post here:
