I built an 1860 from a kit back in 1984 or 85. The parts had to be filed and fitted, but that was in the instructios. What you ended up with, with care, was a gun with an excellent action. Salt bath bluing is what these were intended for ( but leave brass parts as is or brushed). A salt bath bluing job is time comsuming but fundamentally simple and easy to get a good finish, there are many instructions and bath recipes online, the c
Baths can be salt, or can include vinegar, etc.; you repeatedly rust the parts in a bath, then boil in water to convert to black oxide, then wire brush and buff then repeat to get a beautiful polished blued surface. It'sbeen 36 years since I've done it so it is a good idea to look up instructions though. iirc the rust, boil and buff is repeated 3-4 times to get a good bluing.

@@AntiqueDead no worries mate. I'm sure by the amount of comments you've had ya now know it's bad for the nipples/cones. If you were going to replace them anyway or you don't mind dressing them with a file all the time go for your life. Your firearm after all! Hope you enjoy shooting it as I do mine. All the best 😊

Why did You dry fire this revolver?

I have a cva 1863 Remington pocket revolver that I bought for my brother 30 years ago. It was a kit gun. It has cva stamped on it. My brother tried to put it together by himself and broke the hand and spring. Over the years the hammer got worn out, the trigger got worn and the hand and spring was missing. Here it is 30 years later and I was finally able to find parts for it. Unfortunately, the parts were for a pietta and there are specific differences. Smaller screws on the pietta and smaller holes in the hammer and trigger. I ended up building a pietta from scratch and I was going to keep the cva as a wall hanger, but once I finished the pietta, I decided to alter the pietta parts to fit the cva. 30 years and believe it or not, the alteration of the parts worked! I fired 15 rounds through the cva. It was the first time it had actually been fired! I am giving the pietta I built to my brother but I'm also going to show him the cva model that he worked on so many years ago and we are going to take both guns out and shoot them. I don't think he even knows I still have the cva gun so it's gonna be a surprise when I go down there to his house with these guns! I'm also going to take my baby dragoon to shoot also. It should be a fun day!

Keep in mind what you did was old school gun smithing!
All of the originals were hand assembled and fitted by master gunsmiths, it's the reason why hammers, triggers, trigger guards, cylinders and barrels all have serial numbers.
Over the years I have adapted several internals from one to the other.
Some times even between guns of the same brand, you will have to "fit" the piece.
Enjoy your "new" old pocket pistol.

    Nicest CVA I've seen

That ASM/ CVA Pocket Remington looks well made!
Both the Uberti Pocket Colt Pocket models and the Pietta 1863 Pocket Remington in 31 caliber are also well made products.
However some tweaking is needed to make them "Well Regulated".
I am in the process of developing a solid stepped, healed Wadcutter for the Pietta Pocket Remington and the Uberti Pocket 31 caliber Colts. Which will offer the responsibile user the ultimate power factors in the 31 caliber especially for Trappers.
Custom made molds will be available in the coming months.

I've been hearing about this promise of a bullet mold for many months... I see the same promise being posted but not much else

Why does everyone feel the need to dry fire guns? Is there just something irresistible, some urge that must be satiated?

You still need the loading lever lock & the front sight. Oops, never mind. You said it later in the video.
