A great presentation! I'm a GB collector in my early 50s in the UK, been collecting since I was 13. Lovely to see your enthusiasm for our great hobby, and to hear your succinct observations and thoughts.

As a new-ish collector in his early 50s who is a member of a small, rural club, I found this very interesting. Thanks for sharing.

If you are in your 50's, you are considered, a youngster in Philately.

Keep in mind, that as a female collector, some males will talk down to you no matter how knowledgeable you are.

What I like about philately is that I can look at it from whichever angle I wish. I might be a collector for an entire country, or get excite different stamps around the world, topicals or cancelations, might focus on BOB or the history behind the stamps, what the stamps telling me and what was going on at the time it was designed, what is that flower/ animal I never seen before, or a country I never heard of, history of my own country is on the stamps and it is not just about stamps… post cards, sheets and others.. I can present them with designs I create on publisher I might need to search for an old language that does not even exist today to read the inscriptions on. And for my 5 year old - I don’t have a separete time from here as I work 9 hours a day and she is back before I quit and I am woth her until she is put to sleep and if this is my cycyle of life and I am trying to breath sometimes by just looking those stamps - they are art- I ask her to join and ai noticed what is appealing to her is removing stamps from paper , we wash them together and the Japanese ara better as they are colorful and very different not old same old and boring - there are animes cartoons and flowers too.. I believe the stamps can be introduced to young ones with activities at school. We do a story telling game with my daughter by picking a few from our box off paper stamps… they are great resources to trigger an interest a focus point. If the students are asked to write a paper on anything deal them some stamps to pick one and tell about it may be at the second language classes… these are my thoughts. Hope some of you who lead certain roles at clubs might be interested to put in reality by visiting schools around the clubs… 😊

Thank you much for visiting the PSLC TH-cam Channel and enjoying our videos on philately and postal history.
Your comments are spot on and appreciate you sharing. And our Society is very active in the local school district in our communities, partnering with educators and offering our time, stamps, etc. in their curriculum.
I also started the "Passport to Discovery" back in 2019 in partnership with the North Museum of Nature & Science here in Lancaster County, PA. We utilize stamps on the floor of the museum in activity stations, with aligns with our various exhibits (e.g., Dinosaur Exhibit and Dinosaurs on stamps, as well as Insects, Flowers, Birds, Countries, etc. ). Each young person recevied a Passport which they can mount and keep any and all stamps they want, they get their passport canceled, and they get to take it home and return at a future date for more activities. Very successful.
We also partner with the Girl and Boy Scouts, giving lectures, presentations, educational sessions, etc.
Wishing you well, visit our website any time at www.lcps-stamps.org

The internet and starting of more and more sensory overload has killed a lot of collecting. Then the expensive look for that $mil gold plated special non sport card of whatever is currently the norm for kids.
