A lovely video, Susan. Thoughtful and helpful. I want to let you know that I think your example of boundary-setting language is particularly excellent.
I've found it easiest to just put it on my media profiles. If someone takes the time to look and ask, I'll explain, because it's fairly clear they're probably genuinely curious. If they never bother, they're not wanting to know, so that's okay with me. That said, my housing right now is dependent upon a program that I discovered was Christian-based (hadn't known at the time my housing was arranged), so I avoid the subject, just in case.
I’ve never heard of this not religion but is religion. I’m curious about this. Is it that you believe that you’re just a higher order animal with no spiritual essence? Do you ‘worship” the natural sciences using shamanic rituals that serve no natural or spiritual purpose but want to have a holiday that celebrates astronomical occurrences? To what end exactly? Politics isn’t actually a religion but i do understand that some people treat it that way especially in their fanaticism.
There is plenty of information about Atheopaganism at TheAPSociety.org. We don't "worship" ANYTHING, nor do we believe in anything supernatural (like a "spiritual essence"). We honor and revere the Earth and Cosmos because they are what created and sustain us. We celebrate a cycle of holidays around the year which have metaphorical meanings for us, and because they help us to be happier. That's the end: being happier, more able to express who we really are, and to contribute to a better world.
