    My favourite sporting moment in history. To come back from 10-4 down, in Chicago with such partisan crowds was beyond special. The whole Seve thing was just the icing on an emotional rollercoaster. The team and Jose will go down in Ryder cup history.

    39:32 - poor Jose; you can see how much this meant to him. Him and Seve were the stuff of Ryder Cup Legend, and to win this event in such an incredible way, to see him break down completely and show us all how much it means to him and his team, such a naked and vulnerable moment for Jose. I just wish I could give the guy a hug

    I truly believe Seve was there in spirit during that whole tournament. Those weekend games were true golfing magic. I loved the uniform tribute that JMO did in memory of his dear friend. One of the best Ryder Cups I have witnessed.

    I can't watch the footage of the Ryder Cup or this interview without welling up a bit - you can see in José's eyes in the interview how much it meant to him that the European team came together to win under his captaincy and that they were galvanised by a love and respect for one of golf's most wonderful personalities and one of José's greatest friends; Seve. This was for him and everything he meant to the people in this sport. God bless José and I'm sure Seve will have been dancing away somewhere, watching down on it all unfolding with that smile.

    What a fantastic, raw and emotionally inspiring interview with JMO and a Seve inspired win by team Europe. Hats off in recognition to Davis and team USA for their professionalism and gracious attitude in defeat. The Ryder Cup has delivered, and shall always deliver spectacular and emotionally inspired golf. Long live the Ryder Cup; long live the memory of Seve.

    This particular Ryder Cup felt like it was DESIGNED to be exactly how it panned out, just to heighten the emotion and the drama. From dragging JMO over the coals and stare a possible heavy defeat in the face to the European onslaught in the singles (not something that Europe is particularly known for in the Ryder Cup), the conclusion was something of a fairytale - albeit one that lasted the entire day on Sunday! I was so happy for JMO and tears were shed in abundance - of both happiness and sadness that Seve couldn't be there in the flesh, but his fighting spirit most certainly was!

    • @MrAJR76
      @MrAJR76 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I agree with your comments, except for the bit about Europe being generally poor at singles play.
      They've inflicted some stonking singles defeats on the US in recent times - 2006 particularly, but also 2002, 2004 & 2018. And, of course, 2012 as you say.
      The whole thing about Europe being bad at singles is very outdated, and stems really from the 80s & 90s (culminating in the debacle of Brookline).

      @MarkoSkid121 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You all have to thank Jack Nicklaus for this. He was the one who requested to include mainland Europe to make The Ryder Cup more competitive because GB&I almost never won. To build the fervor, it was necessary for the Americans to lose, and because Americans have lost and Europe more competitive, Ryder Cup is the best golfing event every two years. Far more exciting than any major.

    I have seen many great sporting moments in my life, this one stands out as the greatest. The Ryder Cup is the only golf tournament I watch. And the first for me was Brookline in 1999. I was overjoyed when Europe went into that Sunday leading 10-6, and thinking (mistakenly) that we had already won it.Then came the turnaround and I was gutted. Sevy dies 13 years later, and Jose Olazabal is the captain, the same player who had to watch those terrible scenes on the 17th green in 1999. You simply could not have written it..
