dieseldusy i love the way you film the elevator because you dont want to get stuck in the elevator like i get stuck in the uk london the otis gen 2 like i press 0 to street level i got stuck in the otis gen 2 lift at the greenford westway tkmax thats why i start filming the ipad
2 days ago, I managed to sucessfully sneak into the Freight elevator at the Museum Of Science in Boston. I think it might have been similar in size, but the elevator dates back to the 70's or earlier.
Sorry, I didn't get a video I was just going as a tourist, and I normally don't go filming elevators like you do. If you ever get a chance to visit, I like to make a video. Its in the Blue Wing of the Science museum via a handicap ramp to the lower level of the Theatre of electricity.
I have to wonder with some of these enormous, beautiful elevators just why they made them so big. If you look at the hallways surrounding the elevator, they're much smaller. Nothing that could ever need that wide of a door could ever get to that elevator. So, it's cool and all... but... why?
If I were to come here, I would not ride the freight elevator. I would ride the main elevators. Is this filmed at an undisclosed location? because I don't see the actual museum name anywhere in this video.
The one downside is the motor is actually kind of quiet and I have to turn up my volume to hear it and I normally dont like to do that too much because my headphones are bluetooth wireless and I drain the battery faster doing that
The first softer noise is the sound of the doors relaxing. After the door is closed, the motors continue to put closing pressure on the doors for a second or two (to make sure they are, in fact, closed). When the motors relax, the door panels spring back a tiny amount, resulting in a small noise. The louder noise right after this is the retiring cam. It's mounted on the side of the car and is normally dropped forward so as to unlock the hoistway door interlock. Just before the car is about to move, the cam quickly pulls back to lock the doors. When this happens, the interlock mechanism makes a clunk sound.
Cool how that blue Gate slams down "KABUUUHFFFFF !" 🙉 But more Information would be nice : Exact Sizes? Maximum Load? Speed? How fast is it? And is it faster when it goes down? Does it bounce? Probably won't... but always worth a try 😊 All Parts made in USA? Is it safe to stand between the Doors? Or will those Gates crush you like a Toothpick? Did it run flawlessly since installment or were there any problems or modifications to be made over the years? Maybe the Employees have a funny or wierd story to tell about it?
***** when did elevators start coming with a nudge mode alarm? The Westinghouse elevators in the apartment complex my dad lived in back in the 80s had it and idk when the building or the elevators were originally installed.
I think the largest elevator is located in HKCEC Hong Kong, it has a Schindler with maximum load 45000kg (600 persons) for transporting huge exhibition materials. A double decker can also be rode
Nathance exactly you would think people would know that an elevator designed for freight and able to lift 16000 pounds would be slow why would something like that need speed
Andrew, did you just refer to a forklift as a "towmotor"? You are originally from Missouri, right? Is that what they are called in that state? Anyway - this thing is EPIC!!! Thank you for sharing.
I think the largest elevator is located in HKCEC Hong Kong, it has a Schindler with maximum load 45000kg/99208lb (600 persons). Even a 12-meter double decker bus can be rode.

This elevator is HUGE!
Amazing D-pitched motor!
Capacity: 16000 Lbs.
Speed: 30 FPM (same as a Concord Elevator at the Bedford Museum in Bedford Virginia).
Nice elevator! I love the freights and special service elevators. Great job filming, Andrew! ;)

Biggest elevator I've ever seen. The doors are really cool
The almost explosive sound when the gate part slams down
It did
Sounds like the George R Brown Convention Center Freight Elevator where JimLiElevators has filmed. Sounds like a Montgomery Dry Powered Motor
The motor sounds a lot like an Airbus A320 taking off.
VegasBlog woaaaaah it does
VegasBlog d
Not when you're playing with IAE's. ;)
Ikr
You're not wrong!
both amazing and creepy at the same time
I saw the Thyssen/Dover van running around Roanoke Sunday
Wow! Nice elevator! The motor must have been a beast

oh yeah, ive been there before, the freight is gigantic! never ridden it tho but might try to sometime
the motor sounds like a good old detroit diesel
That video was taken on my friend Nicks birthday!
That lift is enormous!
The buttons on thyssen dovers look different than dovers
If you're ever in DC, check out the Smithsonian museum freight elevator. It reminds me of this one.
it is huge!
this freight elevator is HUMONGUS!

NEVER SEEN THOSE BEFORE BUT HUGE I THINK THIS IS THE BIGGEST ELEVATOR IN THE WORLD
Lessening motor at 0:01:27
0:49 why there are 2 panel and 2 indicator in this elevator
One for if you are on a fork lift
EPIC! I could probably fit both of my minivans in there!
This elevator is enormous Andrew! It's probably bigger in person than on camera
cool

never expected to find a D pitched motor on a freight elevator. I thought the D pitched motor was only on the passenger Dovers.
The one downside is the motor is actually kind of quiet and I have to turn up my volume to hear it and I normally dont like to do that too much because my headphones are bluetooth wireless and I drain the battery faster doing that
Love the video!, Any safety on that blue door? Like if your in the me way?
Think it was black
Dang, that thing is SLOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!
OMG this is HUGE
This lift is 600000KG 113per
That loud buzzer.
This things power unit must be huge! Wow
I’d imagine.
Is there a machine room next to the freight elevator on the first floor?
the elevator is enormous. after the doors close there are two or three loud noises then elevator moves. what are those loud noises?
The first softer noise is the sound of the doors relaxing. After the door is closed, the motors continue to put closing pressure on the doors for a second or two (to make sure they are, in fact, closed). When the motors relax, the door panels spring back a tiny amount, resulting in a small noise. The louder noise right after this is the retiring cam. When this happens, the interlock mechanism makes a clunk sound.
It’s the clutch that makes a lot of noise. How that works is the clutch moves fast
I have been on that before when I went to UT Austin to visit it's amazing!
Cool they took u on it? It is a great elevator
+DieselDucy yea I asked them if i could and they were happily to take me on it
+BayStateElevators was it the same guy?
+DieselDucy no it was back in 2012 and I think it was someone else
+BayStateElevators If you have a video of it. please share the link here in the comments.

one that sucks about mobile devices is the links added to videos don't work.
+Dale Staranchuk yeah I know. :( I wish it did since I think more people watch TH-cam on mobile now then on desktop
this thing is literally bigger than most of the rooms at my school I'm not kidding !
Cool how that blue Gate slams down
"KABUUUHFFFFF !" 🙉

That Elevator was at a speed of a snail
What are TH-cam recommendations up to now
Can you please go to NJ! We have really nice otis and schindler elevators as well as some dovers
Can you please come to Norway we have some rare elevators ?
I think the freight elevator is for staff and employees only.
why does it make that buzzing noise when the doors are closing?
***** when did elevators start coming with a nudge mode alarm? The Westinghouse elevators in the apartment complex my dad lived in back in the 80s had it and idk when the building or the elevators were originally installed.
Sorry for it not being linked, you can just click on the channel....top vid

Oldest Elevator Ever In The Whole World!
it was moving up and down very slowly
I was thinking the same thing actually
I remember a few weeks ago bring a laptop cart upstairs at my school the elevator was running slow. I thought it was stuck
But that's good for us, because we get to appreciate the motor for longer!
+DieselDucy was he in the machine room at the end
I think the largest elevator is located in HKCEC Hong Kong, it has a Schindler with maximum load 45000kg (600 persons) for transporting huge exhibition materials. A double decker can also be rode
Wow it is. A big elevator 😳
This is a Texas sized freight elevator.
You could probably fit a small semi truck in there and the elevator would probably still lift it up with no problem
Probably at least a couple cars.
THIS IS AWESOME!
I love it!
Thanks
This is awesome!! Very big!!
Something I rarely hear...an E-flat motor.
Can't you check the capacity on those things?
+Joe Poe yes it is on the plate. I think I mentioned it in the video. Did i?
Danger elevator !
CAPTAINELEVATOR 42189 THE INDICATOR CHANGES AHEAD BEFORE IT GETS TO THE FLOOR
It could probably fit a 3-speed gate.
How many HP is the motor?
aww, I want to see the motor!!
Awesome video love it!
That elevator goes so slow I wonder why because it’s so heavy that it has a heavy motor I think
For the people who are complaining that its slow. What did you expect it to be?
Nathance exactly you would think people would know that an elevator designed for freight and able to lift 16000 pounds would be slow why would something like that need speed
Beautiful motor
1:16 that door SLAMMED
+Mahuna dog yes it did. It was loud
uhhhh Why does it say Dover when it was installed in 2001?
