Thanks so much for the video, single dad and my 7 year old had a 1st grade performance. I've never done anything with her hair other than braids or a ponytail. She wanted long curls. 😪 This worked fantastic, when we took it down in the morning and fluffed it she was so happy and it looked great. Much love, Kris

I am a 32 year old woman and this technique has honestly changed my life. I have super thick long hair that takes an hour to curl with a wand. This takes 5-10 minutes, turns out way better, healthier for hair, and lasts 2-3 days between washes. Incredible! I wish I knew about this 15 years ago.

Thank you so, so much. This is a complete game changer for me. Struggled to curl my hair effectively for YEARS. I own every curling appliance and product out there. Styist once described my hair as "aggressively straight" because it refuses to hold a curl for more than 10 mins no matter what. Have tried everything under the sun - then this! No product, no heat and I've had beautiful curls that held for 8 hours. Nothing short of a miracle!!! Absolute legend 🧡

@@jenniferrock2 I let it air dry probably 90% at least and then wrap it making sure it is as smooth across the scarves as possible. If I wrap it again without washing it, I just wrap it dry. I have a 2B/2C S wave naturally. If you are actually curly, like a 3A or more, I would say blow dry it as smooth as possible and then wrap it dry and don't get it wet at all.

It’s so easy, so comfortable, and doesn’t have that “heatless” curled look (some of the curls looking wonky, frizziness, certain parts not being curled at all, etc. anyone who’s tried other tutorials knows what I mean) and it’s so reliable!!! I always know the result that I’m going to get and it’s always so uniform and lovely, not to mention you can customize how big the curls are to get different looks!!! This is one of the few methods I’ve tried that still looks good on shorter hair as well. Your method in particular I found I like a lot better than the original one-way wrap. Thank you!!! ♥️

Just a little too for anyone wanting to do this:
If you want them to stay longer like a lot longer do this after you shower your hair or you make your hair wet/damp. Since it's wet and will dry in this shape it stays like that super long. I usually do my hair similar to that and with the water it stays for days, no joke. It can stay for like three four days.

    A few additional points:
    * STRAIGHT HAIR GIRLS: for extra hold, you can try a setting lotion by L’Oréal called Pli (not sponsored - just worth sharing). The lotion acts as a memory for your hair, spritz it onto damp towel-dried hair and add a little heat from the hairdryer once wrapped to activate - it’ll hold A LOT longer: bit.ly/2LxqTcQ
I’ve added extra links in the description too.
** The robe tie is from a bathrobe/dressing gown.
*** Your hair can be damp OR dry, mine looked dry but felt cool so I knew it wasn't 100% dry.
I don't wrap it when my hair is visually damp because the curls become too tight.
**** Freshly washed hair is ideal BUT you can do this is on second-day hair for a soft curl.
***** If you’re in a rush, try using one of these hair dryer hoods AFTER you’ve wrapped your hair. It’ll be dry and curled within 15/20 minutes:

    US - Amazon: amzn.to/3MCb6IY

I've tried this method and it's definitely the best I've tried. It even stays in all day. I had trouble holding both pieces of hair in my hands at once so I put one half in my mouth while I do the back piece of hair 😄 oh ya and it helps to pull the hair really tight if you want defined curls. Thank you! Best tutorial I've found so far

  • @bstuebz
    @bstuebz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +18

I couldn't be happier with the result. Thank you for this video! I'm mid-30's and love the look of my hair curly, but I've never owned a curling iron. I'm too afraid to burn myself or damage my hair with heat (especially now in my 30's as my hair is no longer as thick as it used to be, and I don't want to lose any!). My thoughts/lessons learned:
I did this method with my hair damp (using a bottle sprayer to keep it damp as I worked). I found that damp hair was easier to manage. My hair is about 3" longer than shoulder length, so not nearly as long as Shonagh's. I wasn't able to get the robe tails to do what hers did, but I found my own way to secure them. I want to get one of those silk night caps to wear over this next time for sleeping on it. I also do want to get small elastics to tie off the tails (I used my normal hair ties and that wasn't ideal).
For my hair, I wanted pretty tight curls, so I opted to do way smaller sections at a time and that worked really well. Be careful to do the same size sections on both the left and right of your head, otherwise you might be able to notice a difference in curl size when it's let loose.
I made the (slight) mistake of spraying hairspray on it for hold, and definitely overdid it so that weighed down my volume a little and made it feel (IMO) just a little crunchy-looking. I would like to try this with some sort of leave-in next time instead. If you do opt for hairspray, go slow with application and just do it lightly.
Overall, 100% impressed and felt so glam with this for an event I just attended. :)

I've just tried this for the first time and I'm super excited about the results! I have shoulder length hair and they came out so beautiful with this technique. I used a scarf and it worked perfectly. I still need to perfect the curls so they go all the way up to my crown. I washed my hair and then dried everything around my head with my blow dryer (so I don't catch a cold😏). The rest of my hair I left the way it was so when I started this technique, 1/2 to 2/3 of my hair was damp. I am tempted to say it curls better with the damp hair. My hair gets frizzy easily, especially with heatless curling techniques, but with this one, there is hardly any frizz.
So, thank you SO MUCH for showing us! You explained it very well and it's easy to do.

One tip though, when I sprayed my hair with a stay in conditioner before wrapping, the hair moved much more freely when taken down, and less frizz. I'm sure that would differ for each person, depending on hair type.

I’ve been doing this for a couple months now and there’s been a massive improvement in my hair. One side of my hair used to be curly and the other was always straight. Now my hair looks healthier and I’ve been getting compliments when I go out.

This has been my number 1 curling method for years. I have very slippery straight hair and with other curling methods my curls just fall out straight away. With this method I can even get second-day curls, even with only using water and no setting lotion or other products.

I’ve only done my first half and I was DREADING IT thinking I was going to get all flustered passing both pieces between my hands but this was SO EASY!!! I’ve got long (almost to bum) hair and it’s super thick so I’m doing this with damp hair after washing! Can’t wait to see how it turns out. Thank you so much for this tutorial.

Yay, glad you gave it a try! My only advise being as your hair is thick, make sure it’s BONE DRY before you remove the wrap or it’ll fall flat. Stick your fingers between the sections to feel the hair inside, if it’s cold then it’s still going to be a bit damp. It needs to complete dry in order to be successful and hold.

Little bit of advice that helps me when I do this: (I don't know if this works on all hair types but personally mine ended up fine) When you take them off of the robe, if they still aren't separating properly and all look a little clumpy, you can use a hairbrush and brush it out. Within 5-10 minutes the curls will have found their way back but the hair will look a little more cohesive. Hope this helps :)

This is absolutely brilliant! I washed & towel dried my hair, then partially dried it with the hair dryer half a head at a time, wrapping exactly as you showed. Only had 2 hours to leave it in drying the rest of the way before going out - and it WORKED beautifully! Curls are still gorgeous the next day, AND worked in my much shorter shoulder length hair! You're trick is genius - thank you!

Deniz Karagüllü my hair is medium, not thick or thin, but curls stay well in my hair. the curls loosen over the day, but i’d say it’s good for one day if you do it with dry hair, but if you do it with wet hair, i’d say you could get 2 days out of it, which is ideal for me bc i wash my hair every other day. if you dampen your hair, you can get one good day out of it for sure as long as you do it tight

This literally is the best method ...as someone with thin, flat straight hair. It gives you such a lively curl, big volume, and lasts for DAYS!! (turns into a gorgeous wave). I just do it when it’s damp, mostly dried from the shower, not wet. I just put a little conditioning spray in first, ATM using Hask 5-in-1 keratin spray. No mouse, hairsprays etc are needed at any point for me. I seriously love this method. Best of all you can sleep in it okay enough
