If you want to import from China to US or Europe, no matter you sell on Amazon or some street stores, it’s so important for you to understand the compliance certifications for your products.
Why? The custom will hold your products, or even destroy them if you can’t offer any certifications to prove your products have reached the local product safety standard.
Most importers don’t know much about what kind certifications they need for custom clearance or Amazon selling. Even a lot of Chinese manufacturers may give you wrong information, because usually they are not the expert at the point.
That’s why we decided to make this video, to share some basic knowledge of compliance certifications.
In the 1st part of this video, I explained who will need you to provide certifications, and also in what kind circumstance you can avoid to provide.

Hi Jing.Great information. When you say its cheap and quick to get certification in china, what would be the cost of an EN71 certificate and CE declaration for a simple toy,for the EU market. These are required to be in the importers name not the manufaturers. Is this something your company handles? Thanks for the great content.

HI ! jing . hope you can take the time to answer the following ! How can i make sure that i have all of the test reports neccesary to import the products to USA ? Where or who do i have to contact to provide me a list of test reports needed to be in complete compliance with usa customs ?
Hi, thank you for the comment. There are too many types of certifications that you can apply, but only some of them are compulsory and some are optional. If you are not selling large quantity, let's say less than $1M per year for one product, you just need to provide certifications that US custom needs, or Amazon needs(if you are selling on Amaozn).
To understand what certification does custom need, you can inquiry your freight forwarder or custom broker, who help you with the import process. To understand what Amazon will need, you can reach out directly to Amazon I think.
But if you inquiry some testing lab for what certification or test to need have, they will suggest you a list of unnecessary certifications, because they want to make more money.
what if its household storage containers on a ship though? i just got a large quantity so my vendor suggested sea shipping method because of the weight.
Hi, did you want to ask the shippment? For this situation, I also think sea shipping is the most suitable way. And if the quantity is small, sea shipping + UPS is suggested; if the quantity is large, sea shipping + truck is better.
Hi Jing. Can you help me please. I have a toy for children (for ages 1 - 3) that I'm trying to sell on Amazon US and they deactivated my listing saying that I need Children's Product Certificate (CPC). I bought this toy from a gold supplier Chinese manufacturer with more than 10 years experience. I contacted the Chinese manufacturer and they said the test will cost me 800$ so that I can the CPC ???? Is that possible? Do you recommend an excellent testing lab in the US that can solve my problem? Thank you in advance
Hi, I'm not sure about testing company in US, but usually cost will be more expensive than China. In China, there are also many different types of testing labs and their price ranges quite different. For world leading testing labs like SGS, BV, TUV, their price usually double or triple of local Chinese testing labs. Confirm with your supplier which testing lab they are using, and ask them try to find some local cheap labs if you want to save money.
Also the testing fee based on how many different types of materials and colors that you need to test. Sometime in case to save money, you can just test for one color one material, and if Amazon passed your certification, then it's done. If Amazon requires you to have CPC for all colors and materials, then you have to do all.
@@Jingsourcing I know the cost may be lower in China than the US but after researching I found out that some people faced the same problem and when they tested in Chins labs and in unknown companies, their tests were refused and didn't get the certificate. So I decided to go with Eurofins labs testing US that Amazon suggests. And the procedure may take some time :( I can do nothing about it. My product is deactivated but I think I'll open the toys category that's what's more important. I could later get any toy I want and sell on Amazon.
If need a Chinese testing lab, it will be better ask product supplier to do it, because local Chinese testing lab seldom offer service to foreigners, as very few of them offer English service. If the lab didn't give the certification, then your product supplier will help you handle it. Of course it's much better to use Amazon suggested testing lab in US, if the price is acceptable.
