  • The infamous, chaotic, riot inducing performance from Tater Totz at the 1988 Beatlefest at the Bonaventure Hotel, Downtown Los Angeles. This one time line up included 1970's teen idol Jimmy McNichol on percussion, Steve McDonald on bass, Bill Bartell (aka Pat Fear) on guitar, Jennifer Schwartz on vocals, Victor Indrizzo on drums, and Dave Markey on bongos and backing vocals. Beatle fans were not ready for a rip roaring version of Plastic Ono Band's "Don't Worry Kyoko", this caused many of the audience to protest. The band was lead off of the property by security right after the performance. Keep in mind, this documentation starts well into this said performance.

Still the greatest live performance I've ever seen! The audience hated them!

I put a plastic bag like that over my head in 5th grade - to make a rain poncho for a field trip. The teacher FREAKED OUT screaming that I was going to suffocate myself. I think I made a hole just like she did - AFTER it was on my head.

I was there digging it all. I thought that it was great. Am listening to one of their CD's right now. I have attended 19 Beatles Conventions in Los Angeles from 76 until 2000. The quake in 94 threw me over here to Phoenix. Sure miss those fab weekends. At least I have most of them either still on cassette or CD.

I was AT this Beatlefest (it was my first one), but somehow missed this brilliant performance. As I was only 17 at the time, I probably wouldn't have appreciated the awesomeness of it then as I do now. I discovered the Tater Totz in the early 90s when I found Mono on cassette and have been a fan ever since. GREAT upload and thanks for sharing!!

+dave idmarx Yes, i was at this Beatlefest along with 18 others back home in Los Angeles. This was the first riot of sorts at Beatlefest. I was digging it. I do have this convention and most of the others i have attended . Sure do miss those fab weekends. The quake from 22 years ago today threw me over here 400 miles away. Amazing that one event changed my life forever. Sure miss the home land as well. I do have both of Tater Totz cds. They do a fantastic cover of 'Tomorrow never knows." They also were part of the punk band Red Kross

I was screaming along with the song and I happen to enjoy most of Yoko's music anyway. I can greatly relate to her pain. To bad I can't find a version of them doing Tomorrow never knows here on You Tube.

They were singing Give Peace A Chance while they were walking out of the ballroom. My friend went out to talk to them quickly. He wanted to perform with them but couldn't find them in time. Still love it, whether the other supposed Beatles fans die or not. Ck out the video i did of them performing Tommorow never knows. A psychedelic mind trip . I have most of the 19 conventions still on audio and have quite a few photos. Would you have any more video available by any chance?
