    I disagree that you shouldn't read the text that the pupils are reading. In primary education, sometimes this can be really beneficial, especially for those children who find reading a struggle. It makes it more inclusive. Hearing it aloud also helps children to process the text, as your intonation and emphasis can help them to understand new vocabulary and the intent of the sentence. It isn't pointless, it actually has a lot of benefits.
