The funny thing is, the armor Cobra Commander is wearing is based off the armor Fred VIII used to impersonate him in the original Marvel G.I.Joe Comics. Personaltywise Fred VIII was much more like the animated incarnation of Cobra Commander as opposed to the real comic Cobra Commander who was actually a strong, fearless, ruthless and competent leader unlike the cartoon version.
What really bugs me about the DIC joes is that the GI JOE MOVIE was beyond a chuldrens cartoon it felt very very ADULT and RAW! Then you go to this DIC stuff and its even more cartoony than the GI JOES before the movie from SUNBOW. Taking a step, a HUGGGGGGE leap backwards in a bad way.

Did the original Destro voice actor return for the DIC version of GI Joe?
No. The original actor was Arthur Burghart who also voiced G1 Devastator.
