- "The House of the Rising Sun" is a traditional folk song, telling of a life gone wrong in New Orleans. The most successful version, recorded in 1964 by the English rock group The Animals, was a number one hit. I have played and sung this tune for over 50 years, and today seemed like a good day to just play it again.....bluesy, raw and low-down and dirty. Both of the cats liked it, and suggested that I put it here on TH-cam again, after 5 years since the last version. I do dig the blues.....and the Animals sure did it right. However, as Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong once said "If you have to ask what the Blues are, you ain't never had 'em!" Boy, that's the whole truth right there. "Life is Good", here, where music lives, on 8/27/2021, in Tune Town, with my bluesy Hammond Organ, and lots of Love, baby. Thanks for listening, and Happy Weekend. 🌴🌴🎹😎

Thanks Mike for a memorable rendition of a true blues classic. Best ever!! Miss you, but never forget you.
I absolutely died when he slightly glanced toward the camera like “oh yeah, ya liked that didn’t ya?” Lmfao this is my new favorite person, talk about a master of his craft, bravo sir
I really miss his playing. RIP Mike. One of the best organ players on TH-cam or anywhere. 🙏😇
This is the "honey let's go out for groceries," "wait baby I got one number to do."

It's over six minutes long, but it sure doesn't seem like it's that long. A testament to how well played it is!

That's one of the best, funkiest covers I've ever heard. And I'm a death metal guy. Big props Mike, absolutely killer.
Nice ! Never thought to play it in G minor instead of A. I could never sing it right. The Animals did it in A and I've payed it that way all my life but I'm only 67 and I can Change; Thanks Mike!
Fantastic performance. Thanks Mike for playing one of my favorites. You put smiles on a lot of faces.
Mike was a great player. We can learn a lot from this memorable videos he did, specially the style and mood of Hammond and the way people use to play these wonderful instruments. The repertoire includes a lot of my favorite songs.

Great
just stumbled across this channel, absolute gem. This is an amazing cover
Wonderful performance of this very known song. In France we have the version of Johnny Hallyday. The original is played on a vox organ but your improvisation on Hammond is original. I have played this song on my channel but I play just the score and I dont improvise!
🎹 🇨🇵
Love it.
Nicely done !! ✨✨✨✨
Beautifully played.
Thanks for sharing
fucking fantastic, sir
This song is the best with Electric Organ.
Fantastic! Amazing! You are so perfekt in sound and playing this and emotional too! I am just a beginner of Hammond Organ, it's a M 100 and the foot-pedals sound very bad. I try to play "Child in Time" 🎹🎵💚
Really awesome stuff. Originally found your channel from your old house of the rising sun cover so this was a real treat, thanks for posting all these!
Isso foi tão impressionante e maravilhoso. Eu gostaria tanto da partitura com o seu arranjo.

Mike you need to teach me how to play like you I wish I could play like that you really amaze me..N wish I could meet you..nice finger work I can do that one thing with one finger roll...but can't don't know how you change style that quick..
Masterpeace. Much better than original. Thumbs up.
this is beautifull, but older version is better in my opinion.
I agree with you. I LOVED the older version and wish there was a way to get Mike to bring that one back!
I can't remember who said it , but the quote was something like "There's two kinds of music: Zip A Dee Do Dah and the Blues.
@Protean Polymath Thank you. Van Zandt is one of my favorite lyricists.
I’m glad someone came up with the right answer to the “ Blues “ Question . I was going to be Funny and say “Uncle Remus “, who was made Famous in the Disney Movie, “Song of the South”, released in November 1946🥰. I was 7yrs.old. That’s when I first heard “Zip A Dee Do Dah” Day. Chris ,💕🎶🥀🎶💕😍
@@christinataylor6572 1946,huh? Wow, that's when I was born. But I loved Uncle Remus and the whole gang. Thanks, Christina.....
Do you happen to have the original version you did? I much enjoyed how you played in that one, tho you killed it here as well
