    Oh my... listen to those glorious side pipes rumble! It is my dream to someday drive this car, what a machine. All race cars need to be like this, naturally aspirated, 4 on the floor, no nanny electronic traction control. Just pure driving. Bravo to the driver for hitting nearly 180MPH!
    Guess the closest I'll probably come is driving it in Raceroom...

      Will you accept six on the floor?

    This brutal block of 900 HP, this power is ultimate ! Look the torque at low rpm in second gear > 0:41 :D
    This monster is modeled in RaceRoom Racing Experience, the historical realistic game game.raceroom.com/store/cars/group-5/chevrolet/chevrolet-corvette-greenwood-1977

    288kph = 178mph.

    My 77 Vette has wet dreams of this video.
    288 kph on the speedo. Ratio of kph:mph = 10:6 10:6 :: 288:x ==> x = 173 mph !

    ive got a 74 can am bodied car and would love to locate or copy the fuel injection system that john used to run, anyone with info on this for a 435hp 427 would be greatly appreciated thank you.

      Mary, there is a facebook group called 'Greenwood Corvette Race Cars' where restorers / builders post, sure on of them can help you.

      I considered getting a fuel injection setup from John in 1975 for my 427 C3 IMSA Corvette. But I was quoted $5K. Too rich for my blood.
      I ran in the 1975 Paul Revere 250 at Daytona. I believe John was on the pole. He was very fast but didn't finish BMW won.

    288mph (460 kmph on a closed track? What is the fastest a Indy has done through a turn? I saw 280 while turning left. How long is that straight and how much HP? The record on the 5 km Mulsanne straight with around 1200hp is only around 400 to 410 kmph (240 odd at a guess). Also only after Peugoet took off all the downforce, taped over ducts etc and went out to set a new track top speed record. Car overheated a few laps later though. Forgive me, but you could tell me the Saturn V was battery powered, but 288 on a closed track would take some convincing, unless the car had a Top fuel engine and only lasted two laps at the most

      +Sean Bad The owners, and drivers are French, the readout is showing KPH/kilometers per hour. So at 290 KPH he's doing around 180MPH. Thanks for watching!

      IIRC John Greenwood reached 225+ mph at Daytona?

    • @Z06Ronald
      @Z06Ronald 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Certainly not 225 kph.
      But you made made curious, so I looked it up: the overall all-time highest official speed ever recorded by any car at Daytona: 236 MPH !!!

      I think it's 241mph for the fastest lap in a IndyCar at Fontana by Gil de Ferran In 2000 CART season. That speedometer is in kmh.

    wow, I can't believe someone typed out that much of a rant and couldn't put 2 plus 2 together and figure out that it's in KPH, not MPH... To even the most recent newbie to any motorsport, that's the simplest most obvious explanation, there's only two choices... MPH and KPH, ain't more difficult than that. Not, "rant rant rant must be a conspiracy theory rant rant rant"... Ya gotta wonder about some people. And thanks to Historic Sportscar Racing, great video!
