- Is Alan Browne about to sign for SAFC. Talks have been held with the Preston Midfielder who has turned down a new contract and is apparently prepared to take a pay cut to join Sunderland. We have also been in talks with Oliver Norwood.

Hi Tony, in an ideal world everyone would but I think in the current climate not everyone can afford to pay £60 for a shirt. This gives people a cheaper option who are struggling financially but still want one. I get your point though. Cheers. 👍

We do not need Norwood - probably on PL salary - and Browne but I would be very happy with Browne. 2 of them just pushes the young ones down the pecking order IMO.
I was impressed with what I heard RLB talking about so, so far so good. Pleased about Rigg and Jobe committing and would like to see affirmation that our other young top talents do the same - at least for this season. Clarke? I still think there's a chance he will stay but when the Euro's finish then that will be the telling time when the big spenders start to flash the cash and the sellers use that cash to look in our direction.

After my correct prediction in the qtrs, (thanks for the shout out), my prediction for tonight’s semi is 2-2 after normal time and at end of extra time, but Holland to win the penalty shootout by 5-3. This time I’m hoping to be wrong, but if by another miracle I win again please give the shirt to the next nearest. Chas

This will be a fantastic signing if it goes through, don't get me wrong i would still take Norwood as well cos the more experience we can get the better but Browne is a bit more exciting cos he's 29 he's probably got another 3 or 4 years left in him, he's very versatile, experienced and he's a leader and that's why i hope we get both Browne and Norwood cos it's not just experience we lack, we also lack a true leader cos Onien is not a leader, ideally what this lot should be doing is making the most of the free agent and loan market and then use majority of our transfer budget if we have one and spend big on a quality striker, if they do that then we could be in for a good season but time will tell
Hi mate, great comments as ever. I think Browne is having a medical this week and will be a great addition to the squad and in a free even better. I think Norwood will want a decent wage so can’t see us taking both of them. Quality striker has to be the priority now.

Hi Wayne - I think Jobe will stay regardless of offers now. SAFC want to keep him, so put a high transfer value on him to fend off bids. He's said he's staying because he realises SAFC project is best for his development at present, so that's it. Chris Rigg was offered massive financial terms from Sportswash, Man U, Bayern and Inter Milan and turned them down - clearly nowt special about being seen in Milan! This is a massive sign that key players buy into project. Asset stripping rumours - disproved.
Speakman and KLD realise they need to adjust the model with first two signings of Moore and likely Browne - combined age 60. Moore has been brought in to mentor Patto + his successors - we've got some serious talent coming through there. Browne also has high standards, so a new midfield/team mentor. Both excellent additions. Not buying experienced players - disproved.
Speakman has said money is available to buy players without selling anyone, Kyril has said he wants a goal scoring striker - Not signing goal scoring striker - verdict pending, however KLD has spoken.
New manager - I'm actually relieved Will Still showed his true colours after gaming us and jumped ship for more money even though it set back new manager signing. RLB is looking to recruit a specialist set piece coach, which we've needed for years. I'm also hoping RLB can improve our injury record as he's very into sports science. So far, I think this worked out for the best.
We currently have fifth highest value squad in Championship behind Burnley, Leeds, Luton and Sheffield, but we're not that far behind Luton and Sheffield, so Speakman is clearly doing something right - Speakman is the devil incarnate and has to be exorcised - verdict -innocent until conclusively proven guilty.
Admittedly, this is an optimistic (facts based) view, but I'm hopeful - even though it might kill me! Cheers. Jim
