I normally try to be on time for things, especially to work or when I have to meet up with someone. The punctuality is also a form of respect. If I have to go to the airport, instead, and I ask my father for a lift, I usually arrive in time not only to have some coffee but even to build the plane that I have to take 🤦♂️😅
Thank you for your efforts.. I'm normally on time for things sometimes in time... Rarely just in time. Thank you for your wonderful lesson Regards from India 🙏😊🇮🇳.........
What an amazing explanation! Well it must be said that both are very similar, and if it's fast enough you may not even notice! But there's a subtle difference that's worth learning about. Thank you! 💛
I usually arrived late for my extra classes when I was in high school. But now, I have changed. I always in time because I easily got anxiety if I late for my class.
IN TIME:Early to a determiner time On time:According to scheedule both could meaning similar but on time is exactly in the point of time of a scheedule
I don't know if it is also true for native English speakers, being an Asian learning English, I have to say the usage of preposition is the most difficult part of all. Things like rule of law, rule by law, contract of service and contract for service, their meanings could very opposite with just a very subtle difference.
Don't worry, it is difficult for everyone learning English. Native speakers just learn these rules by hearing/seeing these words so often many many times every day in a natural way. However native speakers normally won't be able to explain the rules (unless they're teachers or like learning languages) because they have learned the rules "by instinct" and what feels or sounds natural. And yes, there are SO MANY rules and exceptions with prepositions in English. Personally, I wouldn't have to learn them as a non-native speaker. Also prepositions are often difficult to learn in other languages even for me (and I love everything to do with languages).
Before I was so on time doing things but now I always let things to be done just in time. So bad habit. Must be changed. It is my revolution in new year.
So if I get 20 minutes before the meeting starts but I’m not planning on doing anything else. Am I on time or in time? Because I understand that you are in time when you’re early but at the same time you’re going to do something else but what if you just stay waiting for the meeting to start?
@@mouadlachgar6962 thank you for answering. What has been stunting me is when "on" is at the beginning of a sentence. For example, "In/On trying to protect the queen, Howard had put his own life in danger." My question is, 'Are those prepositions interchangeable?' www.ldoceonline.com/dictionary/on
@@WoodwardEnglish Is there a dictionary that contain all possible combinations of possible structures i.e : on time, in time, at times, at that time, at some time, by the time, in no time, etc.... and their explanations? ... adverbials like sometimes, many times, most of the time etc....? It would be very nice .Thank you
Great question. I scheduled the meeting at 10 a.m. = 10 a.m. was the time when I scheduled the meeting. I scheduled the meeting FOR 10 a.m. = That is the planned time for the meeting. Maybe the day before (at 4 p.m.) I told everyone at work.... "Tomorrow we have at meeting at 10 a.m." ... I scheduled it at 4 p.m (that is the time when I planned the time for the meeting) It is because of the verb TO SCHEDULE. You SCHEDULE something FOR (a certain time).

* arrive 20 minutes before (you don't need the preposition IN in this case)
Thank you.
I have a question please! What is the difference between sick and ill?
Thanks in advance
dictionary.cambridge.org/grammar/british-grammar/ill-or-sick
Ill and sick = not in good health. Ill is more formal than sick.
We can use sick before a noun but we don’t normally use ill before a noun.

Hello! I like your lessons! Your lessons are very good. I have a question. What program do you use to create tables for your lessons?
Adobe Creative Cloud

Good example

I'm on time, but just waiting for it to begin.
@@WoodwardEnglish thanks for the response 👌🏼
No,usually I'm not on time for thing.
Yes,I often arrive late to things.
Thank you for the explanation, but I'll never use these words because I'm always too late ;)
:)
I’m usually on time👍
That's great.
Could you make a video related to relative clause & relative pronoun, please ?
I will eventually.
Please, I'd like to know when to use "on doing something" or "in doing something".
It depends on the word that comes before those prepositions.
@@WoodwardEnglish Please, explain it better (on a video).
He is so skillful in doing some extra work. It depends on starting time
@@mouadlachgar6962 thank you for answering. What has been stunting me is when "on" is at the beginning of a sentence. For example, "In/On trying to protect the queen, Howard had put his own life in danger." My question is, 'Are those prepositions interchangeable?' www.ldoceonline.com/dictionary/on
As soon as you said “Hehppens” I figured you were from New Zealand
:)
Why did you use for 10:00 am not at 10:00 am ??
It depends ... What are the complete sentences?
@@WoodwardEnglish thank you I found the answer in one of the comments :)
감사해용
Iam normally in time for thing by the way.
.. or on time?
What about at short notice?
This video is only about using a preposition with the word TIME.
At short notice would be in a separate video.
I usually arrive in time but some time when I'm so exhausted, I Don't come on time
* ... but sometimes when...
Make sure you are to be in time, when you attend interview
* Make sure you are on time...

I watched the video just in time.
So what's the difference between in time and early?
There is no such thing as being in time. One may arrive in time to do something, but one may not be in time.
That is what I say in the video.
why you used "for" 10 a.m. , instead of "at" 10 a.m. ??
Great question.
I scheduled the meeting at 10 a.m.
= 10 a.m. was the time when I scheduled the meeting.
I scheduled the meeting FOR 10 a.m.
= That is the planned time for the meeting. Maybe the day before (at 4 p.m.) I told everyone at work.... "Tomorrow we have at meeting at 10 a.m." ... I scheduled it at 4 p.m (that is the time when I planned the time for the meeting)
It is because of the verb TO SCHEDULE.
You SCHEDULE something FOR (a certain time).
@@WoodwardEnglish thx ^_^
