    These dog trainers got a real set of balls. Props to all dog trainers having the courage and respect to train problem dogs like this.

    I feel so sad hearing comments that agreesion is always caused from irresponsible owners. I really feel like crying this moment because I have an aggressive dog that I HAVE WORKED HARD WITH AND IS AT THE POINT OF GIVING UP. We spend so much time and money trying to help our dog. WE are not irresponsible. The last person to help us is a behaviour expert and in the end all I get from him that is positive is a control collar. I love my dog 100%. H

    Trickiest part is remaining calm yourself when you feel him about to act up.You must show him it's no big deal and you expect him to behave, (not you expect him to be bad) he will sense your tension and mistake that for you being fearful of other people, when you are actually nervous about what he will do next.

    WOW, That Pit looks like he was Introduced to Bite Work way before Obedience training was Instilled. Owners are probably scared of the dog to even do obedience on him. Pit is NOT afraid at all, maintains constant eye contact.

    It must be natural for pits to be over active. I've had mine for 3 yrs now. Was never aggressive but overly playful. Concerned the playful would turn aggressive once out of puppy years. Started to show who's dominant but always rewarded good behavior. Now, I have the best dog in the world!

    How long of a time frame elapsed from the beginning to end of the video? Is this all in one training session or over the course of several sessions? What is the function of patting the dog on the nose? Curious because I am interested in becoming a trainer, I prefer the Koehler method but you guys obviously do some amazing work and I want to learn all I can, I want to use whatever method is most reliable.

    Question for you. Im currently in dog training school. Mostly for the theory and exposure to varied training ideologies out there. I know you stated to the client why you used the stand but i couldnt really hear it. Could you tell me exactly what is the use of the stand? I would guess its to isolate the dogs movements but id lie to here it from someone who knows what theyre doing.

    Just wondering if you exercised him before all this, I find it easier confronting a tired dog with no mussel the a high energy dog with a mussel? I breed German shepherds, and Rottweilers, and then I work with peoples aggressive dogs. In the end it looked like he was doing good especially if this was one lesson!

    I have had my Pit bull for 2 years now. It showed aggression once as a puppy it never did it again. A week ago I took my pit to the dog park and at the beach where they are allowed and he was attacked by a mixed breed dog at the dog park at the beach by a lab. Both times he was sitting down with his head down and when he got attacked he yelp and whimpered. He ran to me both times and has never been aggressive since he was a puppy. I have my training methods and they work he is my buddy and love.

    That trainer has A LOT of faith in that muzzle! One thing I wish this video and other vidoes have when demonstrating the e-collar is a caption or some indication when the collar is actively being used being used and at what level. Is the trainer changing levels. There are none of these training facilities near me

    As long as you feel comfortable about him not biting you, then try this.The issue is likely that the dog is claiming you and your family and "protecting you" from others. You need to show him that you want the others around by choosing them over him. When he tries to get between you and other people put him back behind you and lay him down.He need to see that you are happy with other people around, and happy when he is laying down and calm around other people.

  • @sargetheshelterdog8291

    They can be trained. One of our pits went after dogs, moose and bison. It took 2 summers but we broke her. If another dog attacked her, she would quickly put the other dog down and run to me with her head down. In her training, if she showed aggression, she was tied to a tree, even up in the mtns and we left her there for 15 minutes. Literally went far away. She screamed like crazy. Hikers thought it was a wolf. it takes time and patience.

    Its never too late to change a dog, thats a myth created by humans. They live in the presence, sure, it is harder to change a pattern but its still possible. I've seen 8year old full on aggressive males change completely to complete perfectly behaved dogs around EVERYONE and EVERYTHING. U cant just put a dog to sleep, its never too late.

  • @divixxx15
    @divixxx15 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ok here is the thing... Pitbulls need much attention and u have to be very careful with them... No matter what people (Some) pibtulls tend to snap and be dominant if u dont be firm with them... (Im not saying physical punishment. but firm leadership) If he snaps at people then hes either bein very protective or gets nervous around people. If its the second case the only option is to use positive reinforcement and introduce your dog to various situations around people. Always use a muzzle!

    and she is a working dog she weighs around 70lbs of pure muscle but she is in no way aggressive at all. she is the most sweetest dog i know. yeah i get people who don't like her and walk to the other side of the road because of her but it isn't because of her it is because they are afraid of her. but she didn't do anything. yeah of course she chases bike's but she is learning not to.
    but I just think people need to bann the person not the breed.

  • @cisopen
    @cisopen 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    I wish you guys would clarify the e-collar comments. From what I can tell, you are not using e-collar and NOT SHOCKING the dog into submission.
    One other thing, please explain how you will re-train the owners. I really doubt you're going to "fix" him and then just hand him back to the owners, right....?

  • @mrhoffame
    @mrhoffame 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm sorry to hear about that. Sounds like you are a very responsible pit owner which is a breathe of fresh air. It really is a bad situtaion and a unfair one for the dog because even if he gets good training (and this is with any aggressive dog) they only get one chance to mess up for the rest of their lives. I just don't think any training and ensure not a single attacks for the next 12-15 yrs. It sucks. I mean imagine if we only got one chance to mess up for the rest of our lives.

  • @Poiqtube
    @Poiqtube 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is not "training", it is forced compliance. They could have trained him to sit, table, wait but instead bypassed all that in favor of forced compliance. What is the purpose of the shock at 2:27?

  • @DarinShepherd
    @DarinShepherd  16 ปีที่แล้ว

    To the best of my knowledge, with the exception of redirecting on the owner once, this dog has never bitten anyone.
    I agree about the normal behavior of pitbulls and this is not normal. I have a wonderful example of the breed myself. My APBT will be 8 yrs old next week.

    Give that dog to CESAR MILLAN!! He'll help him be the best dog he can be!! Dogs need discipline, love, affection. Dogs like this need strong leadership, especially these breeds. I have a hunting dog but he's also domesticated, he too needs strong leadership in order for him to listen to me. There also needs to be trust and loyalty. I hope this one can be rehabilitated:)

    I noticed the "trainer" using the shock collar (red light blinks on collar) to control dog. Being shocked does not change the behavior, just reaffirms to dog people are not to be trusted.
    Dog was very stressed (heavy breathing) which is also not condusive to learning.

    Not all professional dog trainers can fix aggressive dogs. You must research each dog trainer beforehand about what type of problems they are good and bad at fixing. You have an aggressive dog, therefore you need to consult a dog trainer that specialises in aggressive dogs.
    If possible, get help from Cesar Milan. He's a very cheerful person and has helped many dogs who otherwise would have been put down. (:

    As a dog trainer, posting a video like on the net shows a lot confidence in your abilities. To some degree this k9 is a reslt of poor handling the owners part, and to some degree it is also genetics. Keep in mind all dog have predidtory instincts, wether its for humans or other animals. To have a dog that is well controlled in all circumstances takes 1-proper breeding and 2-no less than 2 years of constant work. Working dogs in say like police k9 are so because of great bredding from europe

    The most vicious dog in the world is the Chihuahua (or maybe one of those humongous livestock-guarding breeds from the Middle East~Russia) - a trillion times more likely to bite than a Pit.

    It's sad because Pit Bull terriers and other bully breeds are specifically bred not to be people aggressive. Yes, they can be dog aggressive, but that's owing to the origins of the breed. Because, after all, they were originally bred to fight and to bait. However, if the dog socialized early, it can learn to live with all kinds of other creatures, including other dogs! There are some great videos all over TH-cam showing this. I mean Pit bulls living with ducks, birds, kittens and igaunas! :)

    Dont blame the breeds they are not the problem. It all boils down to the owner, they are the one that makes the dog like that weather they ment to or not. I own and train the breeds you listed, and the best dog I have ever had which I currently have is a pit/german shepherd mix.. It is no different than you saying that a whole race of people are bad just because a few of them have commited crimes. I just ask that people stop blaming the breeds. FYI Pitbulls were breed as human companions.

    At 6 ½ years old and he is this aggressive, I would not trust that dog without that muzzle on as far as I could throw my house. I hope whoever owns that dog has good insurance and the insurance company knows they have him, he is lawsuit bait. If not right now, wait a few years when he gets dingy.
