Did you have any issues with the alignment of the belt? also it looks like there is not enough tension on it. Are you satisfied with pressure output?

The alignment was fine, but you are correct that there was not enough tension. I did adjust it a few times and now it runs with much less flex. The pressure output is fine for my use (~100psi), but I could see a two-stage pump being really useful as well.

Excellent observation! It turns out the rattle was from the new check valve I installed which had a metal valve. I installed a new one with a nylon valve and its much quieter!
