    Excellent review and great point about the grip issues with the shark lock

    I have (2) 20.5s. A black AUS-10 Sharkfoot and a Ti 3V Clip Point. I have large hands and never have issues with the lock lever getting in the way or anything.

      Glad to hear you're enjoying them! Maybe it's just a hand size thing 🤷‍♂️

    I have both the AD20 and AD20.5 in full titanium. They both are edc work knives for me. I use them hard everyday from cutting Sheetrock ,pallet straps , pallet wrap, cardboard , electrical wire , plastic piping and commercial grade sand blast hose and never had a problem with the shark lock digging in my hand no matter how I gripped it for the cutting task I was performing. I’m surprised you’re having issues with it! But I do agree with you on the price of the knife for the materials used it should be considerably cheaper.

      I have more particular ergonomic concerns and preferences than most people, I have found. Glad they serve you well though 🤝

    You made some valid points there. Very objective review. Good job! I do like my AD 20.5 though, cutting with thumb on the shark ramp works just fine for me. Size and ratios of human hands differ a lot...

    The clip point has a better ratio. As far as the AUS10, anyone that is still buying them when there is a 3V version out isn’t paying attention. I personally couldn’t care any less about the finger flick. The entire AD20 series (of which I have many) are some of the most fidgety knives I’ve ever owned. The shark lock has never bothered me while using the knife, maybe I have different size hands. Considering the popularity of these knives, I’m going to guess a lot of folks feel as I do. Get a full size. Spend the money and get a full size. I have one in full titanium and out of my hundreds of knives, it is one that I will never part with.

    • @NocturneKnives
      @NocturneKnives  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Imo they're treating the 3v too soft, so while you'll have great toughness you'll have super low edge retention. I've handled a full size and felt exactly the same way about the shark lock as I do on the small ones
      Thanks for watching 👍

    I just got the same variant with 3v steel I love it the cutting/slicing ability regardless of blade thickness is stellar. Your right about the detent its definitely sluggish. But imo this variant will make a awesome work knife.

    I bought the original grivory version soon after it first came out and was amazed at how cheap it felt. Felt like a $50 knife with the steel to match. The buzz faded but now that MC named this Ti version his edc here we go again.

    • @NocturneKnives
      @NocturneKnives  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I get why people like it, but the shark lock just doesn't do it for me ergonomically. Totally agree with you on the grivory version!

    I respect your criticisms, and certainly the detent or closed retention may be weak, but at 12:30 you're obviously stopping the blade with your index finger. If it's so easy to fail deployment, why not just do it? The action is so smooth that it tends to complete deployment with any amount of decent flick.

    • @NocturneKnives
      @NocturneKnives  ปีที่แล้ว

      I see what you're talking about in the video at that point, but I'm almost positive my pointer finger wasn't touching the blade. And if it was, it was the lightest of brushes. I was using the same technique I use to flick any similar knife, but this thing is just harder to open; and as much as it looks weird, that's almost always the point it gets stuck at, if it's going to get stuck. I believe that also happens to be the point where the lock begins to engage with the tang to create lockup, so a little counter pressure from the lock is added there

      Bro this knife is very cool , but the video is right , I have the same issue on my linerless full Ti version. The detent is weak and it makes using the cut out to spidey flick hard. I found that I have to flick it differently than any other knife. You have to slow your roll when flicking it and let the lock tension do the rest.

    • @NocturneKnives

      That was my experience as well 🙌

    Great video.....I agree that the clip sucks AND it does get caught up on your pocket(come on guys for the price you could've done better). It's an o.k. knife BUT IMHO I think its over priced !

    Kinda the opposite of each other but my 2 favorite blade coating or no coating would be stonewashed and DLC coating.

    • @NocturneKnives
      @NocturneKnives  ปีที่แล้ว

      I like both depending on the knife. Usually prefer a stonewash though

    Decent review but skip the spec's it's totally unnecessary most of us skip right through it because we already know them from being highly interested in the knife hence the reason why we are watching multiple reviews and hearing about the specs over and over again. Also if you don't know the specifications you could easily look it up. The specifications have been so redundant on review channels that I think it's become permanently ingrained into my brain.

    • @NocturneKnives
      @NocturneKnives  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting point! I'll consider it. I do have the measurements section labeled with timestamps though, so it's quite easy to skip if you want

    • @jimmycricket7946
      @jimmycricket7946 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NocturneKnives yeah it's not a big deal I was just venting a bit. The time stamps are definitely a good idea. I've noticed very popular review channels are now skipping past the specifications unless it's a new or exclusive knife that maybe only a very limited amount of people may have or because the knife may not have been released yet or hasn't gained much attention because it's too new, you know that sort of thing. But yeah as I'm sure your well aware the ad20.5 has been on alote of people's minds for a while now it may even be one of the most popularized. I'm sure just about everyone in our community by now has had some inclination about demkos ad20 series.

  • @DrButtPoop
    @DrButtPoop 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    The new cold steel lock fails pretty bad with palm strikes because of the orientation of the knife. It’s novelty locks at this point that don’t perform as well as the tri ad lock or the scorpion lock for that matter. You’re getting budget materials where even the rat 1 has equal if not better materials than the baseline ad20.5. It’s a cheap knife at a premium price and people really bought into the hype.

    • @NocturneKnives
      @NocturneKnives  2 ปีที่แล้ว
