Am I the only one who thought the putting Matt was all over the place in this video? At least two putts went left and then right as they ran to the hole
Just goes to show that a putter is a very personal choice as I totally disagree with Rick regarding the DF3. I love my DF3 and have so much confidence with it. I find the face very stable and does not twist as it does in Ricks assessment. However, during my LAB fitting, I found the heavier head a lot more stable than the standard head..maybe that's the difference? As always though Rick, love the videos, and thanks for reigniting my love of the game over the years.
As usual, Rick's ego gets in the way. He was best with the DF3 but clearly the counterbalance works for him. He should put a counterbalanced DF3 in the bag but he won't because he's more concerned with looking cool.
Slightly strange to suggest that the LAB twists loads on off centre hits when it is designed to do the exact opposite. In your previous review you holed 12 in a row with the LAB but then gave up on it after playing 2 holes out on the course? Ive just got a LAB myself and i would argue that im holing some putts now that were not centre hits and definitely would have missed with my previous putter. It takes some getting used to, especially just letting the putter head do its thing instead of trying to manipulate the face, and distance control takes some bedding in but for me personally I'm hitting my intended start line way more often now.
After this and the Titelist fitting I'm convinced Rick is a headcase. How he cannot see that his putting surface is the issue and not the DF3 or any other putter is the issue has me stunned.
@@electricalstuff259 did you notice as the ball was rolling towards the hole? It just kept wobbling and changing direction. That putting surface is not very true.

Any putter held firmly with the face delivering a square strike will send the ball straight down the line into the hole . These putters are for light grip pendulum strokes only In reality most handicapper golfers are all over the place on their putting stroke . which makes the "Emperors clothes" putters even more of a joke. Like when Jordan Speith won everything holing miracle putts with a super stroke grip , all duffing putters went to superstroke grips , but if you get to hold Speiths putter , the grip is very solid rubber underneath the faux white cover , its easy to dupe people .
Imagine you are the engineer that poured his heart into this new putter tech and Rick grabs it and nearly shanks 10 puts in a row and therefore it sells significantly less than it otherwise would have if he made maybe 1 putt of the 10.
Peter Finch had it in the bag for all of two months and complained about pace control. Weirdly, he still leaves putts well long and short with his new putter, but I'm sure it's the equipment...
@@morten3465I play a LAB Mezz and I partially agree with his comment about off-center hits. You get so used to the perfect balance that the torque from an off-center hit is more noticeable. That doesn't mean the putt is worse though - all of these putters have very high MOI. Also he has the TPT shaft in it, which is extremely communicative. I play the Accra shaft, which has a smoother feel.
I'm sure this works well for a more straight-back straight-through swing for someone with a lot of back bend, but as someone who stands more upright when putting which gives more of an arc to the stroke, I NEED the feel & feedback of a putter that actively wants to open & close as the pendulum swings otherwise I have no sense of where the face is at any given point in the stroke. It's not a flawed concept but it's also not a silver bullet that can fix anyone's putting.
I use an Odyssey StrokeLabs DoubleWide now, and love it. But I recently used a LAB Mezz.1 putter, and fell in love with it. I'm considering making a swap. I don't like the DF3 shape, but the Mezz does actually appeal to me.
DF3 is probably one of the most stable putters on the market with little to none twisting. It’s the whole point. No putter is gonna make a massive pull go in 🤷🏼♂️.
Yes counterbalanced is the key. I was remotely custom fit with LAB at 72°. Went ahead and custom ordered a counterbalanced, heavier head option at 36 inches. 17 in. LAB SS grip. Putter is lights out. Would love to try this counterbalanced version of the EVNROLL
you can tell just by the way the ball is rolling the floor hes putting on is not level lol you can see at 5:50 the ball start left then go back right to fall in.
I was thinking about one of the no torque putters, but then I won an HB2 from Cleveland. I really like it, and my putting is even sharper than it was. Probably the last putter I will ever own is already in my hands. Always great videos, and I liked the scramble with You Tubers, too.

The previous spoiler putter for me is the best performer so far holing every putt until Rick got complacent on the 9th ladder putt and for the money is the best value putter too.
Sam Hahn of L.A.B. makes a great point about the emulator-putters now flooding the industry, which is that a fixed hosel will limit the configurations since at most you could adjust the loft or lie angle by 2° max without then messing with the "no torque" feature.
I’ve been waiting on the 38” Z1 to hit the stores. Tried it today and left with it. They actually had 2 in stock and the other sold while I was there as well. I’ve owned a Lab DF3 as well but sold it.
Interestingly enough, I started this summer with the Evenroll X that you are trying out, and anything 10 feet and under was great. Where I was having trouble is with longer putts and distance control, but only on the X putter and not their more standard putter. Switched to the LAB putter, and the distance control was much better. Good friend of mine had the same issue with the Evenroll X and went to LAB with better results on longer putts, just like I did.
I love watching my golfing buddies faces as I drop putts from any distance on the greens with my cheap Carbrite BrassBalls £30 putter … While my mates miss 4 foot putts with their £300/£400 Scotty Cameron, LAB putters … A putter, no matter the cost, is only as good as the arms that swing it…
Any chance the claw grip makes you lose control of the face on the off center strikes? You said the putter was rotating on that axis. If you had a more controlled grip would that control the face better?
Having just bought a new putter (I change putters every 10-15 years!), I would not be in the market for a new one, but the blacked out counter-balanced putter looks very good - definitely a hint of a spider putter in the design
Ill never be able to afford one, but I absolutely adore lab putters. I have had the chance to use one several times and absolutely putt better with them than anything else I have ever tried. I hate that the evenroll is probably just as or more expensive. Guess I will just still with my old ping blade for now lol. Very cool putters though and definitely an interesting design. Also my entire world changed when I switched to a counter balanced putter
I really like the Blue and the Red finishes tbh, each to their own I know, but would be happy to take it out your eyeline Rick 👀😂 Really enjoying the reviews, for someone that putts so well makes sense to keep seeing the putters 👍🏻
I have tried the counter balance #Evenroll putter & I've used a LAB putter during a round last week. I agree the Evenroll Putter feels more stable...8 want to try it in a 35" with a counter balance weight vs a 38" shaft.
Maybe hit some putts more on the toe and heel, you bring up an interesting point about off centre strikes. Fantastic video. I will wait for more zero torque putters to come out, I use an armlock
The original LAB putter is by far my favorite. I don’t understand the hate about looks. I think it’s great. Also I feel like I can’t miss within 5 feet. Just so easy to lineup.

Hey Rick, as a golfer who has a problem with putters with offset, I feel like I will pull the putts! Also as a lefty, how hard is the lab df3 to aim at address?
The Lab DF3 is so good, it’s the best golf purchase I’ve ever made. If you’re considering one, just try it out yourself, don’t form your opinion from just one TH-camr’s opinion.
Rick .. this does seem more like an add for evmroll.. I find the specific thing of the la potter is that even with a shaky stroke and hitting it on the edge that it still goes straight .. as long as you don't push or pull your stroke which is always going to mean it goes offline.
Describing Lab putters as admitting defeat is absolutely spot on! That is exactly what has kept me away from them lol I have definitely been looking at these new evnrolls though!
My putter is about 20 years old and I’ve never found another putter that can match it, for me to change putters it would have to beat it and I can’t see that happening.
Rick. You should test out the SF1 driver from Performance Golf. The commercials tout it as the anti-slice driver. Maybe Guy can hit it a few times since right is his miss 😂
Good comparison. Please also compare the PXG Allan putter. And please explain the ER's extra long handle. It's almost long enough to use as a wrist lock; but that's not how you held the putter. You were using a common grip well down the handle. Seems almost like extra long handle for nothing.
The Allan is the same as the evenroll but nothing like the lab, evenroll and Allan are close to zero torque bit not completely and neither are faecbalanced like the lab. The long grip is the counter balance version, the grip is large because it’s weight counter balances with the head making its stability incredible bit you can grip it whether you like, they suggest just gripping it at the same length as your 34” or 35” putter
TBH I think the hosel doing the same thing as LAB almost makes it look like there’s more going on near the head than less. On visuals in that regard I prefer the straight shaft in a LAB compared the the crank hosel from this video
Interesting demo Rick! I appreciate the innovation taking place in golf equipment recently especially what is happening with short game products. Making the game easier for all levels of players is a good thing. Kudos to Evenroll and Lab for the work they are doing to provide options to golfers.
so just tried all four models bought the silver mallet. so i really liked the look of the midblade the best, and the black mallet the least and i owned and liked the original zero putter. the mallet seemed a bit more forgiving than midblade.
I have the DF3 and I do not feel any type os twisting in fact it is the most stable putter i have ever used, perhaps you are not letting it just do what it does
It’s weird a lot of your putts go straight down the laser line to the hole, but then they squiggle off to the left and right. I don’t think that’s the putter’s fault. I think it’s something with the green where it’s not perfectly flat if you’re aiming for the middle of the hole and straight down that green laser line.
Would you say the newest Z1 is considerably better than the previous models? Surprised you didn’t mention in the video your review on it a few years back.
Poor Ricks getting grilled on his putting stroke and putting matt... I would like to know how the ZeroZs2 feels vs the old ER2 model he was playing with and if its worth an upgrade in his opinion.
As much as I like Rick, if you've watched him long enough he always has had an Evnroll putter in the bag. I personally bought one because I trusted him so much. The LAB putter is made to not twist on off center strikes so for Rick to say it's twisting could it be his personal bias. I am actually disappointed in Rick for this one.
Only one model is being made left handed, as opposed to LAB making all models lefty so really does not matter to me now, however I do appreciate the review.
The Allan essentially used the same toe up design as the Zero line. Nothing about the Allan or these Evnrolls are new. This is the same tech used by Axis 1, Odyssey’s toe up line several years back. I do however believe they’ve improved upon this philosophy with mallet designs making a bit more stable, but they’re not as stable as LABs tech. Golf Champ did a great video is Allan vs DF3 and they said that someone who is a more experienced may actually benefit from some of the attributes of the Allan based on the fact that you can manipulate it more since it’s not as stable.
Ya but do these apply to every putter stroke? Like aren’t lab putters fitted to each person? My point is toe hang putters fit my stroke the best and I putt best with them. What would “toe up” do for me?
Your assessment of the LAB putter twisting on off center hits seems to be in stark contrast with nearly everyone else who's ever recorded a video using it.
You need to untorque yourself. It takes a while to quieten the hands and you definitely can't give up on a lab after a few holes. Took 3 rounds and a good few hundred practice putts to make my hands stop manipulating the ball and get used to ball position etc.
Rick please do the new Odyssey microhinge putters that just dropped. The price is VERY affordable!!!! 🔥 ⛳ Not feeling this range from EvnRoll at all. Their older models are gorgeous and half the price right now brand new.

I think you need sort out that putting surface. Putts that start on line are missing right, and putts that are slightly pulled are going in.
Would the arm lock in the lab perform better?
It’s weird a lot of your putts go straight down the laser line to the hole, but then they squiggle off to the left and right. I don’t think that’s the putter’s fault. I think it’s something with the green where it’s not perfectly flat if you’re aiming for the middle of the hole and straight down that green laser line.
pace control over line all day every day. We should be doing these tests at that distance based on proximity to the hole, not just makes.
I would love to see the New Vice Center Shaft Putter !?
As much as I like Rick, if you've watched him long enough he always has had an Evnroll putter in the bag. I personally bought one because I trusted him so much. The LAB putter is made to not twist on off center strikes so for Rick to say it's twisting could it be his personal bias. I am actually disappointed in Rick for this one.
Only one model is being made left handed, as opposed to LAB making all models lefty so really does not matter to me now, however I do appreciate the review.
Have you reviewed the Pxg Allan putter yet Rick? Meant not to rotate ‘at all’
The Allan essentially used the same toe up design as the Zero line.
Top 10 player in the world right now
How does the Evnroll do in the revealer.
Best thing about this line is that it is modular. If i don’tlike it i can change it to a normal neck. Gear junkies dream
Showing a little BIAS to evenroll ?????? Raving about LAB the last review!!!
Ya but do these apply to every putter stroke? Like aren’t lab putters fitted to each person?
My point is toe hang putters fit my stroke the best and I putt best with them. What would “toe up” do for me?
Throw it in the revealer!
You need to take it to the course to see how it performs on grass
You have to do the Lab DF3 counter balance in a true head to head.
Are you not supposed to forward press with a center graphity putter?
Without using LAB's Revealer to check the balance you cannot compare it's performance against LAB Putters!
@@scallywagturk fully agree. I’ve had the same experience with my original lab DF2.1 ugly but super stable. BUT. You still have to read the line !!
Hated the DF3. Had it 2 different times and didn’t work for me either time
that putting surface is anything but level
Rick please do the new Odyssey microhinge putters that just dropped. The price is VERY affordable!!!! 🔥 ⛳ Not feeling this range from EvnRoll at all. Their older models are gorgeous and half the price right now brand new.
Ricks excuses are legendary..im surprised nobody has done a video on it because there is yrs of content to choose from..every round of golf has at least 3
Good putting comes from countless hours of highly focused practice.
Try the new PXG stable face putter.
