I'm constantly in my car yelling "let's go Willow!" Clapping and bopping all over the place listening to her music. She's great, I love this young woman and I've been following her for years. She just keeps getting better and better.
It's so true. She's really grown into an incredible artist; it's been really exciting to watch her. Plus, all her influences and the people around her just show how creative, curious, and thoughtful she is. She never settled on doing the bare minimum; she makes a true effort to authentically create music that feeds her soul and it shows. It's very refreshing.
Willow just did a live version of this as part of "Tiny Desk Concert". She did it with a full live band and I think it was an even better version of the song! Truly amazing! I think you'd love it!

I know for a fact that Hiatus Kaiyote was a big influnce on this song. They used to talk about doing a collab back in the day. Before her skill had developed to this level.

Non musician here..and you’re absolutely right. I appreciate everything about the music that you described. I have also listened to Willow since she was singing r&b(Whip my hair) and I just love how much her music has changed and how much she has grown as an artist. Very proud of her.
Her vocals have matured so much she sings in her range powerfully. I loved her meditstion songs she collaborated in and Alone done live her voice is amazing. I didnt listen to her when whip your hair was out being in college and discovering jazz music and kpop and Bolly. But her rock era and these new releases she easily is making legend.

She dropped a song called I Am Me when she was 12. I knew then she was special. Her debut album at 15 was very experimental and she was still finding herself. She'd been teasing a jazz/fusion album for awhile; GLAD WE GOT IT! She soars in every genre she does. She has a true appreciation for music and isn't afraid to try things.
She does remind me of Fiona Apple and Tory Amos but herself too. Her whole sound and voice is just magical and hypnotic. She's on the right path

I never come back to a song, but this, this just tickles my brain in all the right spots, the start just sparks imagination It almost feels like I'm about to watch a happy mysterious show with 10 IMDB rating, I can't explain how different unique and awesome this song is.
When I first heard this song I was really captivated! The cinematography of the video really matches the vocals perfectly and I love how it snaps into the very groovy chorus.
His reaction was the same reaction I had when I heard it the first time, it's melodically on another level, the whole arrangement and the way she sings is complex.

I work with a young vocalist who is your normal pop consumer - with taste - who likes complexity and layers who loved this when I played it to her. This is the ultimate crossover where musical complexity still touches people. An EXTREMELY IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE FEAT THESE DAYS!!! I’m still trying to get my head around 7 going to 2, 3 and on to 4 in one song with crazy jazz chords, not only on the piano but also the bass. Ridiculous stuff:))))))))
