  • Serpentine belt part numbers are actually a code telling you features about the belt! Reading serpentine belt numbers can help you find the right one faster and more accurately, especially when you don't have any help.
0:00 • Introduction to Belt Part Numbers
If you find the right belt number for your particular engine, you can use it to find belts by almost any brand, with Dayco, Gates, AC Delco, Bando, Michelin, and more being easy to read with either a US or metric PK number.
0:39 • Breaking Down a US Belt Number
Using this Dayco belt as an example, this guide walks through the numbers section by section. The first digit is a brand identifier, the second section is a pair of digits that count the ribs on the belt, and the final four digits give the belt length in inches, down to the tenth of an inch.
2:15 • The Store Brand Variant
Auto parts stores often carry a name brand and a store brand, with the store brand typically having a different numbering system to throw off some people. It's basically the same numbers rearranged, but without some friendly placeholder numbers.
2:58 • Metric Belts: PK Numbers
A PK number will have the letters "PK" in it, and provide the "effective length" in millimeters.
3:42 • How to Use These Numbers For Your Benefit!
Using these numbers can help you keep searches accurate, and show you options that the parts store or web site might not know even fits your vehicle, including upgrades!
    Where to find various belts:
Gates Fleetrunner, the green one with the "HD" suffix: amzn.to/3XDSPQj *
    Normal Gates Belts: amzn.to/3ERV2Qx *
    Goodyear Serpentine Belts: amzn.to/3TZ3UrV *
    Michelin Belt: amzn.to/3XtES7a *
    Bando Belts: amzn.to/3i4dTyT *
AC Delco Belt lookup: amzn.to/3tRtVyX *
I have chosen not to include the RPM belt. Do you homework on these if you're adding a supercharger or are making something with crazy horsepower.

Open question: Have you ever used a specialty belt like the green "HD" belt show here, or an "RPM" belt? If so, what was your experience with it like?

Greetings from Australia! As a Holden man myself I’m glad to see you have good taste in cars and own a Holden Monaro (Pontiac GTO). Here’s hoping she gives you many more years of service and continues to keep the Holden legacy alive.

Thanks! Although I have it off the road for now, I'm looking forward to driving it again. It's the most enjoyable car I've owned!

Dude you're fucking awesome no one else has a video like this out there that even explains anything about the belts. I ordered a belt from Amazon but it was too small I should have finished this video before ordering. Now I finished the video and typed in my PK number and my right size belt popped right up. And guess what Amazon said it was not the right fit for my car smh. Thanks man 👍🏾

Belt description like "BELT V6 STD 47.5"L J-SEC Part # 140672". Is it mean 47.5 inches OR 76.2 inches (from part #), what is V6 and J-SEC means? How to look for the right belt ?

Answered my question regarding that first number, and if there is a standard width. Time to order a belt and hope it fits on my downsized alternator pulley.

So I just bought a belt numbered K060900, which should then be 90.0 inches long. However, below that number on the package is says, 13/16" x 90 5/8" OC. So shouldn't that part number end in 906 for 90 and 5/8ths (0.625 rounded to 0.6)?
