  • BMW M240i Upgraded With The Genuine BMW M-Performance Exhaust System With Amazing Before & After Sound Comparison
    A simple upgrade that we thought decided was worth a TH-cam Video. Whilst showing off some of the installation aspect we also talk through the upgrade and what we've done. We've filmed the standard exhaust sound so you can compare the audio of the new M Performance Exhaust as a before and after.
    At the same time as this install (Which we didn't film) we also installed some Carbon Fibre Mirrors and Front Grilles which is why it's outside our garage and not on our ramps! It allowed us to move the car round quickly when needed.

    Did you have to code anything being a 19 plate with the exhaust ppf ? (Think it’s called)

      @Carbonwurks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Adam! No didn’t need to do any coding after the install and the car behaved all ok. I think the customer decided to have his map tweaked afterwards to get it sounding even better!

    Hello great work and review there and making me want to upgrade mine! Do you know if it can be fitted on an M240i built 08.2018 thus with OPF onboard...? I believe so since there is no other variant of it - should still be a plug & play solution not? Thanks for any reply and Regards Cris

      Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for your comment!
      These systems I believe only fit the pre OPF cars. We can offer alternative systems however.

    This is amazing transformation! Would it be possible to do with my 2023 BMW 230i Xdrive (or something similar)? I already ordered M-trim rear bumper kit from 240i and would love to make dual exhaust tips on the both sides with improved sound. Thank you for any feedback in advanced!

      Glad you liked the video and thanks for your comment. I would say you’ll need something custom made as this is designed for only the 240i models which are pre 2019 I am told.

    I was going to do a Dinan midpipe and Dinan or Eisenmann exhaust on my 2017 M240i 6-speed, but I think I’m going to go for this M-Performance muffler upgrade instead. The police are cracking down on loud cars here in Vancouver Canada and I don’t need a violation ticket. They also give you a citation to have a dealer inspect your car, and will force me to replace my loud aftermarket exhaust with a stock exhaust system, which would end up costing me a big wasted crunch if cash. It’s hard to tell from a You Tube video, but do you feel this MPE sounds more aggressive than the stock exhaust in person! Also, I’m told by my local dealer that this exhaust doesn’t have an electronic controlled exhaust valve like the stock muffler dies, so that would mean the valve is “always open” so to speak, which is another plus for me. Can you confirm. Tgx

      It does seem world over governments are trying to crack down on noisy exhausts. 5-10 years time things may be very different.
      In short however, this is a non valves exhausts on this particular car, I believe some cars do have valves though depending on the year and exact model of this car.
      We since upgraded our mics to capture better sound, the difference is a deeper exhaust note and additional noise. It’s not as aggressive as an aftermarket system but a good option for those just wanting a little more than standard. Certainly a nice fitting and looking kit and the customer was very pleased.

      Thanks for your reply. It looked to me that there is no valve on that new BMW performance setup. You mentioned you had a “sensor” to plug into, so may I ask what that is if it’s not a valve setup? My car is a 2017 M240i, and apparently the one for my car is unvalved, too, which is good to me as I’d rather have it “open” at all times. My stock muffler sounds pretty good, but the valve rattles very badly on most cold starts, and that drives me crazy. The valve pin is in tact too, so it’s not missing or broken. I’ve watched quite a few YT videos regarding this rattling/buzzing sound with the valve. That’s the main reason why I’d like to do this same “upgrade”.

    How much does this cost? I've just got an M240i and looking to upgrade the exhaust to be more aggressive and loud

      Douglas Park in Glasgow will do you the backbox cheapest. Other method is gut the backbox and remove the resonator+small silencer for full ASBO

    Does it add some horsepower?

    • @Carbonwurks
      @Carbonwurks  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As this is just a rear silencer swap, it’s unlikely to add any more power. If it would, it would be a very small amount.

      It is more subtle than some systems but in person it does sound nice.

      I just did mine, and it is definitely a big step up in sound! Much nastier cold start, and it sounds much sportier in comfort mode. In sport mode, it adds a lot more bubbles and a bit more aggression. I'm now considering a Dinan straight pipe (resonators delete).
