When I first saw this as a kid in the cinema, I was depressed that all those Narnians were slaughtered at the gate. Watching this now, I hear their cries not for their deaths but for Peter to be safe. They believed in him and the siblings to very end, willing to give their lives for their home and the freedom of their people, knowing that they will avenge them

Difference is that, there was a part of me that believed Aslan resurrects. (And my gut was right).
The Narnians however, died tragically, and there was no other way to reverse it.

If Disney treat Narnia seriously, they had lot of potential to be succes franchise like Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones. Narnia had a lot of lore and history to dive deep in the story and if Disney+ make a series for this a lot of people gonna watch it, only if they choose the right Director and Writer

What makes it so tragic, is that not only does half the narnian forces sent in die, all while they cheer for King Peter and such and believe in them until the end, but also the telmarine forces. It's why the commanding guy is so hesitant to give the order, something Miraz has no qualms, is the minute the gate drops all the men will die.And you literally see a few telmarine men die by their own mens hands.

There’s something else to Asterius’ death and his will to sacrifice himself. When Trumpkin fell he landed on a Telmarine soldier who was about to stab Asterius from behind and he noticed only when Trumpkin was on the ground. Perhaps one of the reasons he stayed to the end was because he realized that he was already supposed to be dead due to that Telmarine soldier but he was saved by very unlikely circumstances so he gave it his all to let others save themselves.

Peter’s plan was always going to fail. His only strategy was to either attack and hope the castle would fall, or wait for the enemy to come to them. And pray the Narnians could hold them off.
It would have been much better if they had stayed in the forest and used guerrilla tactics to slow down the talmarin army. Even destroy the bridge they were building. Would have taken away their advantage of their siege weapons. And even the odds for the final confrontation.

While I love this as a battle scene, and absolutely adore the sacrifice and courage of the Narnians, I have mixed feelings about this as it never actually happened in the books and seems like it was added to the movies just so Peter could learn a hard, unnecessary lesson. However, that Minotaur is literally the definition of sacrifice, and let’s be honest, those fighting scenes are incredible. Also, as a HUGE Edmund fan, the Edmund scenes in this were gold 💖💖💖

Okay, there's one thing I don't get. At 2:26, when that Minotaur kept holding up that gate, and got shot. Granted that was the most heroic, honorable, and noble sacrifice he made. But I'll get right to the point, when the gate fell at that moment why couldn't another Minotaur lift it up? I mean, it's not like the gate was bolted down or it was unliftable, there were still time left to escape. I mean a Minotaur or two could have lifted up the gate easily, and let several other Narnians to escape. I don't get it, Minotaurs are known for their brute strength. They could have lifted up the gate easily, but they didn't. Do any of you out there totally agree with me on that?
I mean, ever since I first saw it in theaters that scene when those Narnians got trapped and got left behind it broke my heart. To this day it still gets me, I mean it can break anyone's heart or even crack a tear ask anyone. Also, all those Minotaurs and including the one who was holding up the gate has truly made up from fighting along side with the White Witch 1300 years ago. Wouldn't you also agree with me on that too?

It's a lot harder to lift something up than to keep it up. The first minotaur was able to use his whole body to keep it lifted as well. I think a few minotaur may be able to lift it back up, but it's definitely a lot harder to do and while everyone is getting shot at

That's because this battle never happened in the book. Most of the battles in the book were near Aslan's How, where Caspian and the Narnians had bunkered down. And at least, they kinda had to skirmish with the Telmarines a number of times in the book, as they had been followed and basically besieged by the Telmarines.
I also don't think they brought all the Narnians in this night "raid" in the movie, but probably just a hand-picked strike force.
