I wondered if removing the molding was necessary, so I decided to do it your way and it was a piece of cake. I used a soldering iron to cut the plastic squares out and it went smoothly. Thanks for your video!
Hi Brian! Question, are you using the OEM crossbars? Or any other maybe bought on Amazon or similar? Because I’m thinking on buy the original crossbars on my dealer but seeing your video I’m changing my plans…Thanks!
I printed the procedure of installation in the website Nissan is recommended but it doesn't make sense to me why the molding should be removed and install new Clips and put back the molding. In your movie I see you didn't just the cut square and simply install the crossbar. Is that right? I just want to make sure. Also should I cut the square in Front and Rare ? Thanks
Nissan out of an abundance of caution probably wants to ensure the moulding is removed and NEW clips put in because they don’t know the age of the vehicle being retro-fitted for crossbars. If I’d seen any hint of rust or fatigue in the moulding I might have opted to do everything the instructions called for, but of course I didn’t. One must accept any repercussions that might occur when doing anything aftermarket and outside of Nissan Service. Take care! Murano Lover for life!
Were you crossbars OEM or aftermarket? I purchased aftermartket.. just now tried to install and noticed the crossbar doesn’t fit flush onto rail. Ordering OEM from dealer
For anyone a little confused, I cut just the square area around the screw and it’s a T-20 star but not T-40. And the cross bar fits in perfectly. I just did a 2019 Murano.

You mentioned you will show pictures of the cutout. Any chance you have additional videos of the cutouts and installation?
How did you get the loctite screws out of the side rails?

They are OEM from Nissan Parts.

bit
The screws are frozen into original holes. I have sprayed WD-40 around them. Do you think the factory put in lock tight. If so what do I do then?
I'm having the same issue
Did the wd40 work in releasing the screws?
@@cassanix9093 ever find a solution? I know its years later lol
@@luminari_productions same issue here.
