Ah Jingles, you brought a smile to me today. I served on the USS Seattle AOE-3 in the mid 80's as a Quartermaster. The was helmsman for 700+ UnReps. I haven't thought that evolution in years. It really is an amazing task to have a carrier 50 yards to starboard and an Aegis class cruiser 50 yards to port. Thank you for the memory recall.
Akhtually Jingles, you can citadel a Gk or Preussen over range, because you have plunging shots, that come through the deck. The turtelback makes it nearly impossible to get citadelled on shortrange.
I haven’t played this game in years, and even *I* audibly said out loud “HE’S STILL THERE?!” when Maxxy turned from finishing off the first two battleships and found the Schlieffen loitering around in the EXACT same position as before.
"Hey! I'm up late enough to catch the jingles vid as it airs! Oh, a Des Moine is in the featured div?! Sweet! I hope he does well!" -My poor, unaware self. Having forgotten that this is warships and cruisers must be punished. Fantastic BB play though!
First thing that popped into my head. But there's also Stephen King's movie "Maximum Overdrive" that came out in 1986 so It could be a reference to that too
Gotta love the dispersion the Midway gets at 14:48 He only had two planes left for the second run and it almost looks like the two torps were launched at different ships! I know the whole "just dodge thing" is a bit of a meme but you could have fitted the State of Montana through that gap.
The ally CV player seemed to do fairly well at the end in terms of support. Suppose the only thing they could be caught for was maybe putting the fighters down a bit too late against the torp bombers, but still good assistance.
A lot of CV players seem to spend a lot of time going after speedy little cruisers and destroyers who are maneuvering against them, instead of their natural prey, a battleship that's got its attention elsewhere.
Great show, but ... am i the only one that noticed AbyssoAmerica,s comment about german ships in scapa flow in game chat? I loved it :D (Time about 1:40)
I feel like you watched the replay i just submitted to you based off your opening statement...lol I keep trying for a Jingles featured replay. After watching this one though, it was way more entertaining then mine. Well done to Maxxy. That end play was a " well I WAS going to die but since you offered such a compelling argument to live " moment.
AcTuAllY the GK and Preussen are Zitadelle magnets when playing the Yamato and the distance goes beyond 25 kilometers. Because at that distance, the shells just fall straight from the sky like ap bombs, launched from a plane, flying overhead. And the 30mm deck plating has no chance to defend against the nine 460 mm guns of this nice old lady.
Just unlocked the RB and regrinding my German BB and BC lines with the goal being to get the Ohio at some point. If a turtlebacked ship such as a German BB turns hard away from the incoming fire, they can get citadelled as it lifts the side facing the ship to expose the weaker armor below the turtleback.
Jingles, the turtleback becomes MORE effective at close range as the angle increases and goes over the 60° auto bounce point. It's definitely possible to citadel a GK at mid range (10-14km) where the impact angle is lessened relative to the turtleback. At very long ranges it starts to become harder again due to the angle of the outer belt increasing. The FdG and Other ships based on its hull are a lot easier to citadel at close ranges as the turtleback only extends a very small distance underwater so if they turn in it reveals the underside of the angled belt.
That one line from the enemy player in chat at the start of the game. "Why so many Germany ships? Did I end up in Scapa Flow?" Wait, Scapa Flow is Bri... oh. Yeah.
Stephen King was my favorite author when I was a teen. I read everything he ever wrote, and at a formative time, to the point that I re read those stories now and find I SPEAK like his characters. Stephen King had a hand in raising me.
not only did they introduce low bow plating battleships to confuse things up jingles, they also introduced battleships like slava, kremlin, petro, that have HIDDEN internal plates that in most cases stop even yamato and musashi shells. And we would never know about these hidden internal plates if the data miners didnt find them for us, because WG never intended us to find out...
Actually Jingles, the thing with bow tanking isn't that important if you're in a distance in which the shells are coming from above - like the case with the Schlieffen. As far as I know the Schlieffen is indeed quite good at bow tanking with 60 mm of icebreaker armor. Yes, the front deck armor is relevant (and just 27 mm), but more so the superstructure. And even the 50 mm of central deck armor is quite vulnerable against the Ohio shells.
I think jingles might have forgotten to mention that Salem and Des Moines are sister ships… but then again, we know that, right? Okay, jokes aside. That was amazing maxxxy well done!
It was still a bad idea, but I wonder if the two cruisers at the beginning were sailing in such close formation in an attempt to closely combine their air defence umbrellas. Make it so that any aircraft approaching were hitting twice the AA as they tried to conduct a strike on effectively a single target.
The complexity of the ships in the game mentioned near the end of the video is one of the biggest reasons I don't play wargaming games anymore. I just can't be bothered to remember the specifics of hundreds ships and tanks, how much armor they have where, what kind of armaments they have, what weakspots there may be... I used to do alright just knowing the general idea of each nation's line as well as the specifics of the ship I ran, but that wasn't enough anymore.
did u look at the mini map when the two US cruisers where side by side ? It only registered the Des Moines .. perhaps a sneaky way of getting into position for an ambush ???
Fun fact: divide the caliber by 14.3 and you know how much armor it can overmatch: 380mm/15" = 26mm overmatch. 406mm/16" = 28mm 457mm/18" =31mm 460mm/18.1" = 32mm 510mm/20" = 35mm Numbers aren't rounded, so everything behind the decimal point is ignored.
I guess its the same idea because you'd have to memorize gun calibers but if you know the gun caliber of the ship your facing, you multiply your bow armor by 14.3 to figure out the highest gun caliber you can bow tank.
Actually jingles.. Turtleback armor works exactly the opposite.. It's effective at short range and loses effectiveness the further back the shells are fired from.. Because on further distance the trajectory arc is bigger, which means shells are landing more perpendicular to the armor.. Probably also through the deck which means less armor to penetrate and less chance of ricochet.
that Montana must be pissed. shows up to battle full health against a single low health ship with the support of a team mate, only for that team mate to die follows by him lol
I've always wondered, why does WoWs measure armour in millimeters, and frankly not many millimeters, when the real versions of the ships had multiple inches of armour?
He says you will "never" ricoche or shatter if you overmatch... I have had my Yamato Shatter against a Minotaur. What did I not over match on that? Have to love World of warships.
If I had the knowledge of the replay system, I would have sent my one NC game where I got my first Kraken Unleashed, or my Iwami game where I chased the enemy CV across the entire map and got a Kraken Unleashed in the process in the Iwami. Or the game in my Iowa where I brawled a Moskva with less than 15k and WON!
World of logistics, the game we really need
I laughed just at the imagination of probably playing something like that :)
Supplies not shipped due to your requisition forms not being in order
Play foxhole
And this is why I like the Turn based Grand Strategy games like Total War
the ruzzians surely would need this game,
Ah Jingles, you brought a smile to me today.
Thank YOU for your service from a fellow American!
Akhtually Jingles, you can citadel a Gk or Preussen over range, because you have plunging shots, that come through the deck. The turtelback makes it nearly impossible to get citadelled on shortrange.
*Racking shotgun*
Yeah was about to say this, basically pretty hard to citadel point blank, easy over 17km.
Or use stalingrad
got more then 3 citadels from an angled G.K
A cabinet of shotguns is opened somewhere.*
Or with Alaska at medium range
5:47 looks like the Preussen unintentionally angled when it was dodging those torpedos so they at least know that big angry red triangles are bad.
I haven’t played this game in years, and even *I* audibly said out loud “HE’S STILL THERE?!” when Maxxy turned from finishing off the first two battleships and found the Schlieffen loitering around in the EXACT same position as before.
World of Logistics sounds like a fantastic AFK clicker. XD
His division members are acting like Flambass and Mr. G. Bromance at its finest.
"Hey! I'm up late enough to catch the jingles vid as it airs! Oh, a Des Moine is in the featured div?! Sweet! I hope he does well!"
-My poor, unaware self. Having forgotten that this is warships and cruisers must be punished.
Fantastic BB play though!
"Not until I switch it into MAXIUMUM OVERDRIVE!"
Just unlocked a deep memory for me.
First thing that popped into my head. But there's also Stephen King's movie "Maximum Overdrive" that came out in 1986 so It could be a reference to that too
You should have used the Turbo instead
"I knew I should have gotten the Turbo"
You win this time Krabs
Came for the Jingles video, was pleasantly surprised by the Holy Grail quotes, this makes the salt mines much more bearable.
Gotta love the dispersion the Midway gets at 14:48 He only had two planes left for the second run and it almost looks like the two torps were launched at different ships! I know the whole "just dodge thing" is a bit of a meme but you could have fitted the State of Montana through that gap.
My work day just got better. Thanks Jingles!
Great battleship play and situational awareness!
Great show, but ... am i the only one that noticed AbyssoAmerica,s comment about german ships in scapa flow in game chat? I loved it :D (Time about 1:40)
nice catch!
Noticed that one too, had me in stitches
Still the most infectious and genuine laugh on TH-cam
“its World of Warships not world of logistics”
*Me looking up from Gary Grigsby’s war in the Pacific*
“I’d play that”
Thanks for the excellent commentary once again bro. Awesome
Ahhh Jingles. I see Maximum Overdrive in the title and AC/DC Who Made Who starts playing in my head. Awesome.
I can’t even be mad at his division mate 😂 that was some AAA protection right there lmao
Great match. Well played! 👍
Actually jingles the front nose of the schlieffen is covered almost everywhere in 50mm plating
I like your reference to the Monty Python And The Holy Grail quote. I laughed so hard during the movies and the shows of Monty Python.
Great game , well played commander maxxi!
Just unlocked the RB and regrinding my German BB and BC lines with the goal being to get the Ohio at some point. Don't forget Jingles, wargaming also added ships with ice-breaker bows, so now there are ships you can only half overmatch from the front
That one line from the enemy player in chat at the start of the game.
"Why so many Germany ships? Did I end up in Scapa Flow?"
Wait, Scapa Flow is Bri... oh. Yeah.
5:00 achkually jingles, you can citadel a GK if they're turning such that the turtleback is less effective
LOL, nice Monty Python reference at the end Jingles..... Now I feel like singing.
Every salvo that the Montana fired that hit and dealt no damage just made my grin get bigger and bigger
DM and Salem obviously trying to confuse radar into thinking there was only one ship.
Stephen King was my favorite author when I was a teen. I read everything he ever wrote, and at a formative time, to the point that I re read those stories now and find I SPEAK like his characters.
Stephen King had a hand in raising me.
random Monty Python Holy Grail quote towards the end, well done Overlord lol
Nice "Holy Grail" drop there at the end. ;)
Agreed on sailing tto colse in WOWS IT DOES However Work when your Divisioned up & Mic Chatting so you can communicate those kinda maneuvers
That was a really well played game
not only did they introduce low bow plating battleships to confuse things up jingles, they also introduced battleships like slava, kremlin, petro, that have HIDDEN internal plates that in most cases stop even yamato and musashi shells.
And we would never know about these hidden internal plates if the data miners didnt find them for us, because WG never intended us to find out...
Gee a hidden buff to Russian ships what a shock for WG to do.
The sly Monty Python stabbing reference at the end was classic.
Honestly, World of Logistics sounds like a deceptively fun non-military themed RTS. I'd totally play it.
Nice Monty Python and the holy Grail quote at the end jingles

*"This is World of Warships, not World of Logistics"*
"Get down Mr. President"
-friendly Halland
Somebody sailing just off to the left, enemy to the right: "I want to turn out before firing so I can kite, but this guy's NOT LETTING ME!"
Cheeky little Monty Python reference in there 😁 always nice when I can be like, "I understood that reference!"
World of Logistics... sounds like a fun game :/
"...and I want her to think of me as her own dear dad. In a real, and legally-binding sense."
I think jingles might have forgotten to mention that Salem and Des Moines are sister ships… but then again, we know that, right?
Okay, jokes aside. That was amazing maxxxy well done!
Next Jingles upload with this title, can we get some AC/DC playing in the background, please?
Can't, copyright!
Jingles, I think you're talking about the British Dockyard Ship, the Tier IX Marlbrough
I have a problem. When a game called world of logistics sounds like a much better game then WOWs.
"This is World of Warships, not World of Logistics." 🤣🤣🤣 Genuine laugh aloud for me.
Thank you Jingles for another Monty Python reference
It was still a bad idea, but I wonder if the two cruisers at the beginning were sailing in such close formation in an attempt to closely combine their air defence umbrellas. As it was, the Salem ended up as spaced armour for the DM
Tier 9 Oiler in World of Logistics!
“This damage record didn’t stand for too long” Owner of the account Maxxy1944. Now under the name “BACKDOORBASTARD”.
Morning Mighty Jingles
Fun fact: divide the caliber by 14.3 and you know how much armor it can overmatch:
380mm/15" = 26mm overmatch.
406mm/16" = 28mm
457mm/18" =31mm
460mm/18.1" = 32mm
510mm/20" = 35mm
Numbers aren't rounded, so everything behind the decimal point is ignored.
I like this thumbnail
Thanks for the Holy Grail reference, Jingles.
I guess its the same idea because you'd have to memorize gun calibers but if you know the gun caliber of the ship your facing, you multiply your bow armor by 14.3 to figure out the highest gun caliber you can bow tank.
I almost choked on my breakfast because of that Monty Python reference.
Classic movie
That not fair I have sent in several high action videos that you don't seem to even check out jingles.
Jingles.
Full contact Chutes and Ladders will be a thing in 3026.
Hey Jingles!
I feel like I've seen this exact same replay before.
Great battle that
Very Entertaining!!!
Perhaps they were holding hands?
The Salem driver is my clan mate!
Calls a Des Moines a destroyer, now he is doing it on purpose.
World of Logistics needs to be a game
They'll never catch him... not when he shifts into MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE!
World of logistics?.... I'm listening
that Montana must be pissed. shows up to battle full health against a single low health ship with the support of a team mate, only for that team mate to die follows by him lol
I've always wondered, why does WoWs measure armour in millimeters, and frankly not many millimeters, when the real versions of the ships had multiple inches of armour?
MM1(SW/SS) Plankowner on USS Rainier( AOE-7) RASE DIV. Whatta you want to know about RAS?
He says you will "never" ricoche or shatter if you overmatch... I have had my Yamato Shatter against a Minotaur. What did I not over match on that? Have to love World of warships.
Where's your full health now sunshine? Lmao damn
Jingles, have you got your hands on Iwami or Hizen? I wanna hear your thoughts on them. Or maybe replays featuring them.
Jingles doesn't play wows any more, or at least he hasn't played in months.
I'd unironically play World of Logistics
I think it's called Hearts of Iron 4.
Gunwhiffer. Can we all just stop for a moment and admire the choice of name?
I’m glad you like my name for world of warships used to call myself Gunslinger but there is a ring to Gunwhiffer
@@hellstormgaming5508 Definitely. And way better than an everyday Gunslinger.🙂
Rampage? Yes.
“World of warships not world of logistics” i chuckled
I love how this dude is just show-casing his Ohio in between volleys😂 showing us all these views and angles and edges
What's round on both ends and hi in the middle? It's O-HI-O!
Never picked up WoWs, but i do enjoy the Happy old gnome commenting on gameplay. :D
in chat ‘ so much german ships, did i end up in Scapa Flow’ 😂
I see your headed towards the third daemon prince. If you happen to load all your knights up with their best equipment. That might be a good thing
Got a headache from the mouse scroll.!!
I almost got a stroke from this mouse scrolling from 8.20.. But gg..
Was wondering why there weren't more comments like this tbf... Thought it was just me to begin with lol
When I play it's all suprises (tend have bad awereness while playing)
