    How stupid is it that they would put something on the same table like that though, when it leaked I couldn’t believe how dumb it was to place something side-by-side like that. Also funny I never got probation, neither did someone else I know… And people wonder why I have such a strong dislike of the company. You’ll be fine though, LAN only makes people’s channels when they have nothing else to offer, a category you don’t fall under.

      The whole system is ugly. You have TH-camrs racking up views and therefore earning dollars by showing off free sets Lego sends them, putting the TH-camrs in the position of shilling for Lego. And that in turns undermines any pretence of objectivity or independence, making it hard to believe whatever the TH-camrs are pitching. (And it's worth noting we don't see the contracts and NDA's that are being signed behind the scenes.) I have a lot more respect for independent channels.

    Literally, the first rule of having content creators film an office/space is to make sure they know what they can and can not show, and any leaks caused by this are definitely the fault of the company. Lego is an almost 12 billion dollar company that absolutely knew better and is significantly more at fault. This leak is the result of multiple people at Lego failing to do their jobs, not a small creator. Shame on them for emailing you like that! They should take accountability. Reminds me of a lot of why former employees at Lego are quitting. These mega-corporations take no accountability.

    • @phxees
      @phxees 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I think this is too harsh on Lego. It appeared one of the perks of flying people in and putting them in hotels is to show them things that are yet to be released.
      Why would they bring people in to see what is already on store shelves? Additionally this is a big deal for Lego because they likely have a contract with Marvel on when sets can be released and leaks can jeopardize that relationship.

    • @SuperPrt123
      @SuperPrt123 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@phxees I do not disagree. However, I think you are misreading my comment. In the first sentence, I outline how it is their job to make very clear to the creators what they can and cannot show. Also, as I stated, multiple people failed to do their jobs, i.c. not supervising or allowing creators to film in spaces with unreleased sets, or they could even have required creators to submit videos filmed in their offices for approval before posting. I actually have experience in the content-creating industry. Only have about 2 years of experience but I know how these contracts typically work, and how much money and jobs brand trips represent. You have every right to think I am being too harsh on Lego but know I had better experiences working for places like Sonic (the drive-in, not the hedgehog lol) and Colourpop in terms of confidential information, much smaller brands/ PR teams comparatively. Heck, even Forever21 was VERY detailed about when and where (in public or not) you could shoot content for unreleased clothing and required approval for certain content like youtube videos or tiktoks. It's really baffling to me that they would not have clearer instructions and supervision for creators. I am ranting at this point but Poshmark didn't even let me be unsupervised in their office and I was not even filming content! Il Makiage (the nicest brand people ever tbh) just asked for no screens to be shown/blurred for Vlog content if filmed in their office. This communication with creators is just the standard.

    • @phxees
      @phxees 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SuperPrt123 I don’t believe you are understanding what creators are there for. Lego fly them in to see unreleased sets. Lego gives them printed or digital sheets of embargo dates. It likely says the name of the set and the date it can be shown to the public.
      At that point Lego did their job.
      It’s like me telling you two secrets on the condition that you won’t tell anyone for 30 days for one and 60 days for the other. I put the days on writing and give you my email address to ask me any questions. Then in 30 days you accidentally tell both secrets. How would that be my fault?

    • @koma-k
      @koma-k 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@phxees When embargo dates and NDAs are that important you don't stop at a printed sheet/NDA detailing dates per set - you also make sure that they are reasonably separated when interviews and presentations are filmed to avoid precisely this situation.
      So yes, technically the responsibility rests on the LAN members, but I'd argue that it would also be reasonable to expect LEGO to make sure everyone involved are aware *and* not placing models with different embargo dates next to each other when filming starts (which I expect can be fairly chaotic and busy, with lots of room for making mistakes).

      I agree that if a video is being shot on Lego premises then Lego employees must take all reasonable steps to avoid footage being taken that could be problematic. Again... on the friggin table they're all apparently sitting around!!! So this one seems pretty clearly a careless mistake of the creator and he got punished for it. BigL did not secretly hide some embargoed set somewhere in the room. Also, the creators very likely SIGNED something like an NDA before and where likely clearly told what's embargoed. Severals things to say :
    - You explaining that your channel is almost in chamble cause of this, and provide you a huge blow on reviews mean that your are LAN dependant. The LAN wont run forever, and if you are ban also like me, would it mean the end of your channel? As an advise, you should not rely on the LAN.
    - LEGO doesnt care about its own ambassadors. Ok, you are over friendly with TLG here despite the warning. Meaning you want to keep obviously your share of reviews offers. But wait, remember that the LAN doesnt care about you. A warning for 0.3 sec? 6 months of probation without review offers? This is just a lack of respect. Especially when everybody knows that certains LAN members are Leaking and sometimes even posting "oups i failed" on the LAN without any consequences. LAN is not fair.
    It really saddened me to see huge channel like you being so LAN dependant, giving rights to LEGO to do whatever they want knowing that contents creators would anyway bow they re head to keep free products. I'm sure your work deserve better than this.

Being a LAN is over rated and they don’t do nearly enough for the influencers etc in it that make them so much money they wouldn’t without their involvement. He may feel they treat him well, but they need to do more especially to inform these guys of what they don’t want shown in videos rather than tell them after & punish them hard. Especially for moments like this where no one has any clue they need to remove any footage etc of it.

    Sometimes corporations, (even those that you wouldn’t expect to),respond to things they were equally responsible for causing, in a way that is not reasonable. They are directly responsible for keeping sets that are not supposed to be seen hidden, not you! It doesn’t make sense that they would have multiple sets with different dates in a room together when they know people are filming. Honestly it’s primarily their fault seeing that they can easily see what happened, and you quickly corrected the issue as soon as you found it. They are only hurting themselves unfortunately by limiting a channel like yours from getting the new sets early. You do a great job on every video! And yours such a hard worker on this channel! We all appreciate you 😊! Hopefully maybe they can see they need to change the way they manage the process.

In my opinion a 6-month probation is a bit over the top (seeing as it was a honest mistake). LEGO and LAN's PR teams should make sure that should make sure everyone knows exactly what (and what not) they are allowed to show.

    That sucks, but it's really cool that you were transparent about it! kudos to you. That being said, I think it's awful they put you on probation due to their failure to conceal the set knowing people were taking video. I'm also disappointed in them because if this was leaked everywhere due to your video, that means you get them a lot of views/press, they should appreciate that at just the cost of a lego set. Unfortunately I know from experience Lego is ridiculously tough on people (I once ordered the harry potter book/owl set, was charged, it was shipped) then the next time I went to place an order they claimed I never paid for it, I provided bank statements proving I paid for it and they somehow disagreed and now claim I owed them money. They certainly have issues with how they treat some of their customers (and LAN members).

    *Understanding shoulder slap from a fellow small business-person*
    I've made mistakes in my own business that were similar in their ...errr gravity, and it makes a SO much more anxiety than before you made that mistake, worrying that you could do that again, and you probably were dwelling on it for weeks and weeks (or longer).
    Hate to say it, but you will mess up again, like it or not, no matter how you try, it is likely to happen again. (but the second time around, you won't care as much.) But worrying about making that mistake again could wreck you.
    so, now I'm understanding something I've been noticing in your attitude for quite a few months. but going to keep hush about what I noticed because it's no one's business but your own. I thought was because of you worrying about taking a certain financial risk. But, now I totally see straight through you in this moment. What happened has cost you way too much in stress! So, I just had to comment.
    First, sorry, I am not trying to give free advice or run 'your' business for you. (Pretend you asked me for my POV) My only goal here in typing this is to pass on some experiences that I have had. Running a business is already super stressful and the stress can make you physically sick.
    I learned the hard way, more than ten years ago, and that was after ten years worth of fretting, to weigh the tasks I could do in exchange for income against stress factors rather than only considering the money I would make. I think more carefully now about taking particular tasks/jobs. Like; is that a very reliable income source that you can't afford to let go? If it is a high stress task, are you able to fill that gap with a different income source that will be far less stressful and actually more fun? Maybe the funner task would make less money, but if it's much less stress on me, then I choose the least stressful route to my income.
    You are pretty well established in your own right at this point, so I think you have the privilege of being a bit snobby about what services/tasks you choose to perform. But what decision you make is your business of course.
    So, summary; Measure the weight/stress/burden of a task and compare it to how badly you need that income.
    And if you don't like this comment than just ignore it. I mean, I couldn't actually ask you first before I commented if you wanted a bit of advice or not.

    I don’t comment much on TH-cam but this video just shows that you’re a professional.
    I oversee a communications operation for a very large firm and it is inexcusable to have different embargo products in the same frame. That’s on Lego. It creates more work for content creators and slows the release of videos (which is bad for Lego). It creates situations like this one where an honest mistake takes place. If anyone should be put on probation, then it should be the Lego team that arranged this year’s event as that is some seriously amateur stuff.
    With that said, Lego needs to reverse their decision or, at a minimum, shorten the probationary period so you can start receiving the sets with a February 1 release date. You already missed out on the impending releases so that’s enough to send a message, if that’s what Lego was intending.
    As an AFOL and new dad (with lots of children in my family and social circle), I bought roughly $25K in Lego sets in 2023 across the Lego Store, third party vendors (like Target, Costco, etc.), and retired sets and pieces off BrickLink and eBay. I caught up and still have tons more to buy. This happened because of your channel. I won’t be buying anymore Lego sets until Lego reverses their decision or your probation ends. Lego probably doesn’t care since I am just one customer but it is a principled position to take. Please give us an update about the probation.
    Keep your head up and I look forward to your future videos.

They knew that they were being filmed and knew more information than you did about the sets in the room. If it was so serious then Lego would have done a better job keeping their sets hidden during a media event. Pretty harsh punishment for something not known explicitly in advance. Just my two cents!

    Long time follower, first time commenter. But I have to say that you and your fam are amazing, the best Lego TH-camrs, and I’m so sorry that this harsh penalty has been handed down! Hopefully 6 months will fly by and you’ll be back as a full time LAN ambassador. But either way you’re incredible and everyone knows that this was an honest mistake, with zero intention. Thank you for always producing amazing videos and having such a positive attitude! 🤗

    That's really unfortunate for you, and also seems kind of harsh for such a tiny mistake, but I guess Lego is just following their established rules for such matters. I will certainly keep watching your videos anyway, regardless of your LAN status. You're doing at great job!

    That sucks man, but I love how you are turning it into something positive instead and finding something else to occupy yourself with for that time.
    Also the "project" sounds epic, can't wait to hear more about it and see how it's going to turn out :D

    Turn lemons into lemonade haha. I think the biggest part of the channel (at least for me) IS the lego city and your original builds, etc. The reviews on the new stuff is cool but because of the lego embargo's that information is everywhere (including your channel) so yes I like to get your views on those sets/etc but those are my least favorite videos aside from just knowing about those sets, so if you still feature the new stuff when you are able to discuss it, that would be more than enough for me, so I'd say just do a video ON the embargo release dates to let people know about the new sets and what you think about them (even though you don't have them hands on) then if/when you buy the set you can have even more content with your hands on videos like you mentioned you could do multiple reviews in bulk in one video. I think this will work out just fine and looking SUPER forward to your move to more space, you'll be able to grow even further channel wise and have so many more options with what you can build and display, etc! Happy for you!

    So sorry to hear this, I think you were treated unfairly. Love your videos and your channel! I'm personally not as interested in new products and reviews, I enjoy keeping up with you and your family and your work on the city. Congrats on the 2400 sq ft, looking forward to it!
