Another Japanese mom, recently showed how to make banana bread in a rice cooker, using the cake setting, now I have several bananas waiting to ripen a bit more. I the carrot cake did look delicious. So is the pipe cleaning something that is required by your city? Now I understand most people in Japan do not understand western humor, had a joke about cleaning a microwave, thought maybe another time. Here in Seattle the it get light a little and 7:30, so yes it’s difficult to get up, plus the last few days it’s down to -1 - 0c brrrr.

They likely do this to prevent clogging, bad smells, pipe deterioration, backflow, or water leaks that could cause damage to the apartment below. I think it’s a good idea to take preventive measures to avoid bigger problems down the line. I understand that western humor can be a bit tricky to understand in Japan! They are not drawers. I cleaned the bottom surfaces inside the cabinets under the kitchen sink and bathroom sink.🫧
